      Absolutely, depends what suits.  I prefer the timbre of notes on the thicker strings wherever I can so dropped 4 suits me fine, other people play six strings and never leave the first position!

      You're sure you need a 5 string, or would a 4 string tuned BEAD work?  Many immediately think they want/need a 5 just because they want the low string, rather than thinking about how little they use the G and instead drop tune.

      ^^ We can't do much about people flipping for profit, but I'd like to think the team would agree to pull listings of anyone that tried to do that, particulalry if it a quick turnaround.  Thats awful.

      If used and not overpriced, buy it.  I never see too much benefit in trying something, aside from making sure it is free of defects etc, I never know whether or not the instrument is right for me without several hours playing.  If condition and price is good, you should get your money back so youve nothing to lose!

    Assuming you wanted the bass, would you buy a 5 string that weighed 10.4lbs?

      Absolutely.  I had a 12lb bass once that would have proved a little too much over a longer gig I would think, but anything under 5KG/11LB should be fine unless you have back issues, as long as it balanced well and you don't use a seatbelt as a strap.

      They're great strings, just wish they had more gauges.  Very limited selection and nothing for people who don't tune standard at all.  Used them exclusively until I started playing in Drop B

    I'm pretty sure the crap crap crap strings that came with my kit bass is a 0.135 B.... I'm getting new strings before I go at the nut now i have feeler gauges. Everything needs to go lower by a lot. Question is, how much would I regret a 0.130 B ? much less clank, much less rattle, much less boom?

    I assume real strings will actually have more *wire* in them than what came with the rather price conscious kit :P

      less clank, less rattle?  You'll get much more of those things the lighter you go.  I hate .135 and use .125 or 1.30 depending on the bass.

    Wow, Prosteels may well be the worst strings I have tried, its like having the mids on -15 with a boost in the bass just to further emphasize those missing mids
