1. "Freewill" by Rush. It was transcribed for guitar and bass in a guitar magazine years ago, and was the only bass music in the house. I think I wore the cassette out listening to it repeatedly. Happy days. I can still remember most of it too.
2. a short scale Hohner P bass thing into a small Marshall 1x12 combo. Currently a Blade B15 into an Ampeg B2RE and a Hartke Hydrive 410. And loads of effects...
3. I've learnt pretty much everything from 'moving pictures' by Rush, but i think that's about the closest I've done to a full album.
4. Yeah OK, I'm in. I love 'Peppers'. Not transcribed anything in a while, so this should get me back in the swing of things.

Bass filth

Went for the BBM in the end. Lovely, warm, dirty sounds. Nice to have the blend function now too. Thanks for all the advice and links. BTW - anyone else notice that the lamp on their Ashdown pedals generate a tiny bit of noise? Just me then.
6. Yup, flats on everything here too.
7. I just read the title of the post and thought "what else could you do? Lie them on their back and play to the ceiling?" Silly me.
8. Just bought an EHX bass micro synth from Derrick, really well looked after piece of kit and a smooth transaction. Really genuine guy and clear communication throughout. Paul
9. I just bought a looper form Dave, really quick posting, even beat the Royal bank holiday. Top guy.
10. 439 hits, no bids? says it all really.
11.
The 3500 is 350 Watts into 4 Ohms, and 240 Watts into 8 Ohms. A single 4 x 10 Hydrive would be fine..1000 Watts at 8 Ohms. There are also 1 x 15 Hydrives and a new 1 x 12 @ either 4 or 8 Ohms. Check the website form more details. Maybe wait a while and see what other users have to say. I sure there will be more suggestions posted here in the next day or two.
My Hydrive 410 is absolutely brilliant, handles anything I can throw at it (including 5 string basses through octavers and synth pedals). Not too heavy either. Loads of headroom and detail for the money.
12. Buy my snake oil. I reckon I'll keep all of my old strings, then shove them in the compost heap for a week or so, then start selling 'relic'ed strings'. Just the thing for that vintage tone...
13.
shouldn't the compressor come first in the chain? after the tuner of course.
Not necessarily, I like my envelope filter to have the full dynamic range of my bass' output, then compression comes later. Horses for courses I suppose.

Bass filth

Hey y'all. A bit of advice needed, I'm currently trying to decide between an EHX Bass Big Muff, Ashdown drive plus, or the James Lomenzo hyperdrive. I've already got an MXR M80+, which I like to use for a little bit of crunch, but want something a bit more RAAAAHHHHHH in my main dirt box, and am swaying more towards the BBM, what would you do?
15. Also, don't never lose 'tha ONE' baby!
16. No, but I sometimes use bass strings to tie my hair back. That's the same innit?
17. I used to have one of these, free bumpage for a lovely piece of kit.
18. I'll go for the tuners please, both of my elephants need new ears! PM'ed
19. Yeah, +1 for anything 'muff' Some people hate the tone stack, but I think it works really well, dead easy to set up. Tried an ODB3 years ago, and couldn't get a decent sound out of it (for what I wanted). The muffs just sing with all that sustain.
20. Another area where age=cash is vintage studio gear. Compressors etc... from the '50s and '60s go for silly money. Surely there's an app for that?
21. Seen them twice (RTB and R30 tours) and loved every minute of it. The 'Bones tour was my introduction to the mighty Primus too. I'm away to see Primus this year, but can't really justify the ticket prices to see Rush again, as much as I love them. Hopefully they'll tour the next album, and I'll make sure that I go to that, but things being as they are I can't spend the better part of £100 to see a band for the third time. On the plus side, I get another night to practice [small consolation emoticon]
22.

[tongue hanging out avatar] LOVE that ampeg stuff.

24. US made Ampeg SVP PRO blackface. lovely piece of kit. Also MXR M80.
25. Nobody touches my bass. It is my bass. There are many like it, but THIS ONE is MINE. I'm not that fussed really, as long as I got it back then I'd be happy. Back to the OP, I'd like LEs Claypool to have a stab at 'Tommy the Cat' on my bass, as I'm not sure my bass knows this tune, and if anyone could coax it out, then Les can.
