1.
I just listened to some sound clips and i am kind of set on the M80 now :-/ I just really like the distortion, mainly due to the dry/distorted blend knob. Sorry and good luck with your sale!
I absolutely love mine, as do plenty of others on here. I've just built a pedal board with a looper switch, and have placed the M80 outside of the loop, so that it's always on, no matter whatever else is going on - it's become such a big part of my sound.
2. Geddy Lee. In an entirely non-sexual way. Shame on you all...
3. Thanks for that. More power to your elbow!
4. crikey! It would need to come with neil peart for that price.
5.
Which he inherited from Frank Zappa no doubt as Franks compositions are littered with Lydian devices.
Oh yeah, Zappa too. Vai may be a leeeetle more accessible though...
6. Sorry, but that's really a bit vulgar. The only people that should entertain plying a double-necked anything are Spinal Tap and Siamese twins.
7. I've always run pedals in line between the bass and the amp, and have never had any issues. I run a rack compressor on my FX loop, but only because it's in the same case as the amp head, and that's the tidiest way of doing it. Everything else sits on the floor and goes straight into the inut socket on the front of the amp. Sounds good.
8. Lydian = Steve Vai, it's one of his preferred modes to solo with. Don't know if this helps or not.
9.
Hey man. I'd recommend listening to some Dhafer Youssef:
That sir, is superb. Simply stunning.
10. ...and yet someone has bid? I blame the parents.
11.
Flat, flat, flat. Although you will feel like a leper at bass bashes, when you're surrounded by people solo'ing on zingy rounds....
Do we need a 'flat bash'?
12. Try this: Basschat groove library
13.
Spade connectors will do you. But I solder the wire ends before I put them in anyway.
+1, surely tinning the ends of the wires with good quality solder will ensure a better connection. If your wires will take the temperature required to heat it up then go for silver solder. Hmmmm, shiny.
14. I had 'A Love Supreme' on in the lounge today, and Mrs_5 came in and said "it's too busy". She like Coldplay...

hey

Welcome to the forum, it's dead handy for questions on just about anything, also some pretty crap jokes.
16. Wowsers, that's in REALLY good nick. Not looking to buy at the moment, but it's so purty - have a bump on me.
17. For me I'd say the maple neck looks better, but that's just me
18. 1) Good, the fact that you can 'dirty up' either the highs or lows, and then blend between the two means that you can tailor the sound to different amps / cabs. 2) Alright then, PM'ed
19. Hi All, I've just bought a bass big muff and am retiring my Ashdown Bass Drive Plus. It's the one with independent distortion levels for high and low frequencies and comes with the original box but not instructions, but to be honest, it's not rocket science. In really good condition, no crackles or pops and the VU meter is still attached and works perfectly. I'll post some pictures up later on tonight. Looking for about £40 posted to mainland UK. Cheers, Paul
20. I've been in similar circumstances (though not for a few years). Fortunately back then I had a few irons in the fire' and could ditch bands who were just 'playing at it' - no pun intended. These days I'd be tempted to do it, purely because you like the material and it's local. Plus it's a paying gig. Even if they mess you around gain and you end up walking, you'll be a more experienced bassist with a bit more money in your back pocket/mattress. On balance I'd do it. Cautiously.
21. "Freewill" by Rush. It was transcribed for guitar and bass in a guitar magazine years ago, and was the only bass music in the house. I think I wore the cassette out listening to it repeatedly. Happy days. I can still remember most of it too.
22. a short scale Hohner P bass thing into a small Marshall 1x12 combo. Currently a Blade B15 into an Ampeg B2RE and a Hartke Hydrive 410. And loads of effects...
23. I've learnt pretty much everything from 'moving pictures' by Rush, but i think that's about the closest I've done to a full album.
