  1. I’m doing Queen songs at the moment too, but more 70’s ‘flat key’ stuff (somebody to live, bo’ rap, don’t stop me now) just to learn how to read again after the ‘brain drain’ of long covid.
  2. Red white and blue ball ends are a Rotosound thing, I think they're the roto nickels.
  3. t strictly DISCO but I'm not one to pass up the opportunity to post something from the canon of Frank Zappa. I didn't post the album version 'cos it's just a bit sterile compared to this great live version.
  4. Then of course there's this classic...
  5. I've always considered this very heavily influenced by Disco... https://youtu.be/Ijk4j-r7qPA
  6. Seriously I do something very similar with my drive units and I've found the DOD 250 to be really great at thickening stuff up. It's a really common design and very similar to the MXR distortion plus (as well as many others), so there's bound to be cheaper clones of it around.
  7. Also The Cure, The Jam, and let's not forget that Rush unleashed the Moving Pictures (Tom Sawyer, YYZ, Red Barchetta etc etc...) in 1981.
  8. I like 500K pots in Jazzes cos they're a bit brighter due to the extra impedance.
  9. Glad you've got a result you're happy with. I prefer 500K logarithmic for volumes and Linear for tone.
  10. I used to, but found the tension was unbearable (I suffer from sporadic tendonitis in my fretting hand), so I found that I had to drop a dress size to get them playable, which felt wrong. I paid £15 for a set of Olympic flat wounds from Amazon and found they're a much better fit for my playing.
  11. For people who like the LOOK of the bass guitar, but not the SOUND of the bass guitar.
  12. I was thinking the same. Best sharpen the edges just in case...
  13. More than a couple of nods towards a certain Carl Thompson...
  14. I think the context of his advice is everything - he;'s talking about improvising, not simply playing a tune. If you're playing a tune that punters expect to recognise, then you'd better be sure that it IS recognisable. If you're improvising over the chords then we can start to blur the boundaries of what's right or not.
  15. Best stand-alone DIs I’ve used were the sansamp paradriver and. Dave Hall VT2. just my 2p worth.
