It's a MIM but these are very nice.

I have a Squier JV 1983 Precision, a 1974 Precision which has been restored and a 2001 Corona era Precision recently purchased from this forum. All three cost under £600 each - having spent vast amounts of cash over the years on vintage Fenders I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Corona era USA Precision - it really is fantastic value for money with a great growls core sound and a superb neck. My '74 will always be my favourite as I have invested a lot of TLC in bringing it back to life and it just feels so comfy to play. If you can't find a Corona under £700 or you are on a limited budget and fancy something with vintage kudos and can't afford a JV era try a SQ era Squier - again superb Japanese instruments. At £350 it was a silly bargain, I have a battered and refinished JV I'd value at that. I think £650 is very steep for a Squier logo'd JV however, it sounds like he was trying to get you into an unofficial auction. I think you are well out of it - he didn't call me back or answer my texts. I bet it resurfaces soon. You are probably best off looking for something on here. Sorry to hear of your disappointment though.

I had a black one with a tort plate, this is very similar - mine was sold when I was a poor student hence my interest in this. He still isn't responding though so possibly a scam to get as many phone numbers as possible and sell them to a marketing company

I have had a chap called Paul Neild down the West Country refinish a couple of basses for me, he is here - [email protected] He did some work for me following me buying a P bass body from him off evil bay. I asked him if he could refinish a '74 P bass I'd bought in a dreadful state - stripped and scratch plate-less. He did this for £95 including stripping the nasty varnish, filling the various extra routs and giving it a nice aged sunburst nitro finish to match the original in the neck pocket. Great job, quick turnover and nice chap to deal with. I'm hoping to make a thread of the restoration at some point. Hope this helps and if you decide to deal with him tell him I sent you!
