  1. Thanks again all for the advice, i think we as a band need to think about this and i think they will be open to it as we have been playing for some time. I think we have all just got used to come along plug in and go rather than thinking about it. It's time to use our brains and all these suggestions to get it right.
  2. Thanks again for the advice and the knowledge that i am not on my own with this issue. Drums and bass sounded tight and great last night before the guitarists plugged in.... then hay ho the bass has gone. It's time for a serious look at this issue now, no more. Cheers Rob
  3. Thanks all for the advice, The stingray seems to suffer more than my Bill Nash PB57 but i really want to make my stingray work. I will have to take control next band practice and look at amp settings and volume levels so we all have the correct amount of room. just seems like we are all in the same frequency, however I can hear every note of theirs and just a muddy boom from me trying to get over their frequency stealing. Its starting to depress me trying to adjust to cut through all the time while they watch me and don't bother even touching there amps. Cheers Rob
  4. I have the 2 tc cabs so the top on is close to the ears, i think the guitarists must be pushing too much on my frequency. when they stop the volume of the bass is nearly too loud then, will have to ask them to drop the volume. Any ideas on how to set the room up should we set up in a line like at a gig?
  5. Hi All, Looking for some advice really, i have been playing bass a long time and find that in practice and live i sometimes loose the bass in the mix. I have an RH450 and Rs210 and 2x12 cabs. Its not always an issues but even in the same practice room it seems to change from week to week. There 2 guitar players in the band and a drummer but is there any tips on how to set up the band in a practice room with a PA to get the best results and any amp settings i can look at to cut through, have boosted the mid but all seems to be getting muddy and definition seems to go. Would placing the amps in a certain way help and how do we level properly, sometimes it just sounds like the guitars are taking all my frequency, last nights sound with my stingray sounded really poor to me, I had brought the 2x10 to try and get things closer to the ears and thought i had hit the nail on the head then the next week i seem to be back to muddy and can hardly hear the bass (under half way on amp volume wise). Thanks for the help in advance Rob

  7. Hi All, This will be my first year, i would love to spend i shed load of money but the wife may have other ideas, i think she got two tickets to keep an eye on me. However i am really looking forward to seeing just bass everywhere will be great. Will be so much great gear brought to us by people that care for bass and not just unpack it and put it on the wall. See you there Rob

  12. Fancy a trade for a boss br532 digital recording studio, boxed as new?
  13. Mate if i had not just brought a $$ stingray i would have had this. good luck with your sale. You could try gumtree and the bassplayers market on facebook too.
  14. This wont take long to go. Great basses at a great price.
  15. Cheers Stingray Pete, I think my e string maybe a little close to the pickups as it seems a little dull at times even with the new strings i just put on this beast. Will try lowering that side a little and see how i get on, gap looks about 4 mm at the moment. Cheers again Rob
  16. Thanks for the advice, i am already down to 2mm so probably as low as i need. Have not adjusted the pickups yet but think i need too. What's the best height for the front and rear pickups. many thanks for the help. Rob
  17. The easiest thing in the world, would like to get my action lower still, stingray Pete do you have any advice you could give me. Its good at 2mm but it does start to fret buzz if i go any lower.

  19. The neck looks alot darker than mine is that just age ot has it been treated in some way?
  20. I have an HH version with the same SLO neck, they are great and the necks are really good and the nut width is more like a jazz. However the thickness of the neck is more like a P bass so the best of both world. Good luck with your sale, should not be here for long!!!!
  21. Well all here was my approach and i at happy with it: 1: Hold down 1st fret with a capo (or wife or child like i used) and the last fret. 2: Measure the gap between the E string and the 8th fret. 3: I had no gap so had to raise it by turning the truss rod wheel to the left 1/4 of a turn. 4: Measured gap again with feeler gauge at 8th fret trying to get a 0.3mm gap, gap was 0.3 (luck). 5: String height seemed and felt high to me at 2.4mm (the suggested height by most videos on you tube). 6: Adjusted the saddles so the strings were 2mm from the fret-board at the 12th fret. All seems to be working fine. This is the first time i have ever done this in 26 years of playing as i thought it was voodoo. I would suggest to all to not be afraid of this it was easy as, If you follow the instructions above i don't think you can go wrong. String height on the saddles is personal preference but i like mine low.
  22. Hi all, just picked up a great stingray slo special HH 4 string. Have put a new set of 30-90 strings on and all is good, however the string height seems a little high to me, however between the 1st and 4th frets there is a hint of fret buzz. At the 12 fret the gap is about 2.5 / 3mm. what would be the best coarse of action in setting up this great beasty. thanks in advance for your help. Rob
  23. Thats just too radical for me, good luck with your sale however, sure someone will snap it up soon.
