1. Hi All, Update, well we spent the most useful 5 mins in the last 8 years last night. Drums played and i got a nice volume over the drums, then we added the guitarists and cut there bass controls and there middle down a bit and then turned them up so they and everyone else could here them. Then had to add a little volume to the bass and turned the treble and the mids up on the stingray just a touch. This resulted in one of the most enjoyable band practices we have ever had, last week my RH450 was on 4.5 with a rs212 and rs210, this week 2.5 and we could all hear everything and all were happy. Moral of the story, turn it down, respect each others spectrum and don't start a frequency or volume war. Thanks all for the advice on the subject and obviously a common issue for us low end heros. Cheers Rob
2. I have one of these they are great and if you wanted to buy a new one it would cost an arm and 2 legs. Go on someone treat yourself.
3. That is ace, i have a PB57 Bill nash with light relic, but that is a relic and a half, it looks like king kong has been playing it!!!!!!!!, Do you ever treat the exposed wood on the back of the neck with anything? Good luck with the sale Rob
4. Cannot believe this is still here, yep a little battle scared but that's why its such a bargain. Someone just give this man the money, if you dont get on with it you could probably make money on it. Bass direct had one of these and wanted £1050 for it.
5. Hi All, Come along and enjoy a night in a friendly music venue. We will be performing a set of our own tunes and be supported by some great Oxford bands. Would be great to see any if you there and please say hello to me if you do come along. Cheers Rob
6. Hi All , Sorry i think i put this in the wrong area of the site so have put it here also. Hi All, Little funk made at the weekend with my new second hand Musicman Stingray HH (4 string, only way for me). https://soundcloud.c...for-the-tempest Enjoy i hope, Big Rob

Quote
MultiQuote
Edit
7. Thanks again all, I have been playing for a long time and have a few basses and have found my Bill Nash PB57 with added jazz in the bridge does cut well in the mix, however that said i have the HH stingray and can spilt the coils to a jazz configuration and this still at this time is not cutting through. I really think it's a volume down 15 minute chat that will get rid of the issue, i use no effects other than i little compression and with the advice here we should be sounding great once more soon. Some nights its spot on with just plugging in and go so we all need to work together. Cheers again all Rob
8. Pete i have the 3 eq stingray HH, any advice on how to eq this bad boy. Iain my rig is much larger than there silly combos also but i also want to retain my hearing for a little longer :-). I really am so glad that others are struggling with this. You try these things at home and they sound so wrong, but i suppose its taking the time to make it right in the mix that counts, otherwise gigs will get boring with just me in my front room and a little squashed. Thanks again all Rob
9. Will update next week on the outcome, turn down tune in and play is my plan hope it works. Also one of the guitar players is leaving and i think that will help lol :-)
10. Thanks again all for the advice, i think we as a band need to think about this and i think they will be open to it as we have been playing for some time. I think we have all just got used to come along plug in and go rather than thinking about it. It's time to use our brains and all these suggestions to get it right.
11. Thanks again for the advice and the knowledge that i am not on my own with this issue. Drums and bass sounded tight and great last night before the guitarists plugged in.... then hay ho the bass has gone. It's time for a serious look at this issue now, no more. Cheers Rob
12. Thanks all for the advice, The stingray seems to suffer more than my Bill Nash PB57 but i really want to make my stingray work. I will have to take control next band practice and look at amp settings and volume levels so we all have the correct amount of room. just seems like we are all in the same frequency, however I can hear every note of theirs and just a muddy boom from me trying to get over their frequency stealing. Its starting to depress me trying to adjust to cut through all the time while they watch me and don't bother even touching there amps. Cheers Rob
13. I have the 2 tc cabs so the top on is close to the ears, i think the guitarists must be pushing too much on my frequency. when they stop the volume of the bass is nearly too loud then, will have to ask them to drop the volume. Any ideas on how to set the room up should we set up in a line like at a gig?
14. Hi All, Looking for some advice really, i have been playing bass a long time and find that in practice and live i sometimes loose the bass in the mix. I have an RH450 and Rs210 and 2x12 cabs. Its not always an issues but even in the same practice room it seems to change from week to week. There 2 guitar players in the band and a drummer but is there any tips on how to set up the band in a practice room with a PA to get the best results and any amp settings i can look at to cut through, have boosted the mid but all seems to be getting muddy and definition seems to go. Would placing the amps in a certain way help and how do we level properly, sometimes it just sounds like the guitars are taking all my frequency, last nights sound with my stingray sounded really poor to me, I had brought the 2x10 to try and get things closer to the ears and thought i had hit the nail on the head then the next week i seem to be back to muddy and can hardly hear the bass (under half way on amp volume wise). Thanks for the help in advance Rob
15. Give it a chance it kicks in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mYioxBIwfs Rob
16. Hi All, This will be my first year, i would love to spend i shed load of money but the wife may have other ideas, i think she got two tickets to keep an eye on me. However i am really looking forward to seeing just bass everywhere will be great. Will be so much great gear brought to us by people that care for bass and not just unpack it and put it on the wall. See you there Rob
17. Thanks All, Will try and make some more soon then if it is liked. Cheers Rob
18. Hi Roland, Cheers for the feedback, will be laying down some more funk soon i hope. get your point with the bassline but only had an couple of hours to get this down in amongst family life. Will hopefully get some more time to focus on the next one. Regards Rob:-)

21. Fancy a trade for a boss br532 digital recording studio, boxed as new?
22. Mate if i had not just brought a $$ stingray i would have had this. good luck with your sale. You could try gumtree and the bassplayers market on facebook too.
23. This wont take long to go. Great basses at a great price.
24. Cheers Stingray Pete, I think my e string maybe a little close to the pickups as it seems a little dull at times even with the new strings i just put on this beast. Will try lowering that side a little and see how i get on, gap looks about 4 mm at the moment. Cheers again Rob
25. Thanks for the advice, i am already down to 2mm so probably as low as i need. Have not adjusted the pickups yet but think i need too. What's the best height for the front and rear pickups. many thanks for the help. Rob
