1. I had a '83 Fullerton made '57 RI P bass that I bought from a shop in Chelmsford that didn't come with a case or gig bag. I took it home in a bin liner as it started to rain. When I sold it, I met up with the buyer and he brought his own gig bag to take it home in. He didn't want the Hiscox even though I had priced the bass to include the case. Win/Win.
2.
Yeah definitely. I suppose people that play basses as a solo instrument and do lots of clever things on it probably don't have any desire to play guitar, but I personally believe bass is a support instrument in a band and I like being that support. There is nothing better than dropping out for a few bars during a song then coming thundering back in and seeing everyone in band smile because everything sounds so good. I'm not a particularly flash player (but nor I am a root notes only all the time kind of player) but I love the idea that without me playing it would sound rubbish!
This is so true. I love noodling on my acoustic guitar but bass is where my heart is in a band situation. I used to get p*ssed off when someone would come round to my house and see the bass and say, go on, play me a tune. Twunts. It don't work like that. That's why I bought a guitar to shut the 'ckers up.
3. I've signed up again. I joined up for this year as I just want to embarrass the tight gits at work who gave me sod all the last time I did it. I put into everyone elses' charity but they gave nowt the last time. Just because the fat bird in accounts had a better tash than me after 2 days, never mind a month. I'll beat her this year, I've bought a strimmer just in case she's in the lead again. I hope to double my last amount at least.
4. I would get it setup by a pro, I'm sure that will sort you out. The right set of strings and a good setup makes the world of difference. If not, shoot yourself.
5. I would like to try a 4 string.
6.
I have just been out only to come waltzing back in to this thread to find it up to five pages.....
Well, there's nothing wrong with your sight reading.
7. This is why I love this forum. Nice one guys, I've learned something new and useful today.
8. No, I was wrong, it's going a bit flat now.
9. This is coming to a crescendo.
10. I've just borrowed a Legend branded P bass from my niece. It hadn't been used for years. I've given it a shim, a clean, new strings and a set up. I'm enjoying playing it daily as much as my RA will allow. With my limitations, it would be daft to spend out on a more expensive bass, it wouldn't make me a better player or relieve the RA.
11.
Makes me want to get the tools out!
The court order has ended now? Cool.
12.
Can't hear anything any more.

13. The worse place I played was the Royal Hotel, Redcar. The stage was so small, to fit on it, I had to take a light fitting off the wall so I didn't hit it with the headstock. I was playing a Washburn Status headless at the time. The venue was at the front of a run down hotel which we were allocated a room each for the night. There was no door on the communal toilet and shower room and the rain dripped into the bedrooms. When I finally drank enough to try and get some sleep in this sh*thole, I got into the bed and it was damper than a puddle of p*ss and smelled as bad. The drive back to Essex from Teesside was memorable for the stink from my bleary eyed bandmates as we tried to get warm from the van heater. The joys of gigging.
14. I thought that the Goto201 was pretty nice but then I was used to BBOT and R*ck bridges. So what do I know. Anything was an improvement on both of them.
15. Love it, nice work.
16. I was knock out buy a guitar, not a bass. The girl rhythm guitarist in my indie band in the early '90's caught me on the head with her headstock during a gig. I went down like a sack of sh*t and was out for a few seconds. She gave my a couple of Feminax for the pain. Made me very stoned for a few hours and I played like a c*** for the rest of the gig.
17.
no i want the best i can afford, yeh the are alll playable but why would you want budget anything..nope wrong ,get a really good guitar and keep it for years when you get bore sell it for same has you bought it
Capital Offence.
18.
Nothing to do with Washburn my friend....Miller is the name, and they're made in Germany.
Thanks for the reply. I was misled by google. Got a link?
19. Very nice. What's the history of these basses, I've not seen one before. Washburn I believe?
20. I keep coming back to look at this. I'm definitely in love. . Just stunning.
21.
Fab! Wish I Still had pics fro that long ago!
Thinking about it, that '75 P bass cost me 10 weeks wages back then. 10 weeks wages nowadays, would buy me almost any custom bass I fancied. How times change.
22. That is a lovely looking bass, good score. I have been having a look at their facebook pages, some lovely basses on there.
23. Utterly mad and brilliant at the same time. Well done.
24. Good luck lads. Good choices I'd say.
25. That looks lush. How did sound live? I bet it was great given the mods.
