1. Not got the new one yet but I've only just read the Freebass "review" from the one before. Could you please review it again and concentrate on its unique features: the clarity of sound and the models? That review was all about the benefits of wireless, any old wireless. That's like reviewing a Dingwall or Squier and just talking about the benefits of the bass guitar over the double bass.
 2. Ah I know that awful feeling when a fantastic custom bass just doesn't suit you .. Condolences and good luck OG
 3.
I know this would be asking a lot of myself to organise since I've never played in a band before let alone tried to start one.
Sir Humphrey "That would be a brave decision, minister" It's a long thread but there's a chunk on the non playing stuff you have to do if you form a band. have a read through from the start. It's probably not the easiest thing to do if you've never been in a band. Unless, of course, you formed a band with other musicians that had done it all before and know the ropes ...

 6.
Been busy recently, which is a nice change. I've had a recent revelation... my action has been too low. I've been getting a 'barking' on all my basses which has irritated me a bit recently. I raised the action on 'em all, and the barking has gone and now I just get a lovely roundness with a bit of growl when I dig in. Fab. Anyway... Played at South Shields Amphitheatre with the Billy Mitchell Band on Saturday night. It should have been great... 600 people there, fantastic KV2 PA.. but the sound was awful. Really disappointing. Punters enjoyed it, though. Sunday afternoon was a gig with The Caffreys on the right side of the Tyne from the last one, at North Shields. That was fab too... lots of familiar faces and new people. First band gig in six months (due to illness). It was a blast. Here's a clip...
That's great Very nice bass sound too
 7.
Cheers dude! Yeah I'm looking forward to having the LED's - was playing a gig the other night and the kindly engineer would "smoke" me every time I went near the drum riser. Now not being able to see fret markers is generally ok (I usually just aim in the general vicinity of the right fret/string), but I couldn't see the bleeding neck either!!!! I'm thinking of these as landing lights. Haha!
My band call them idiot lights They are a big hit with the punters though when I go amongst them. Oddly enough they seldom comment on the superb workmanship of Mr Shuker's fabulous sunburst or the hand carved neck profile and perfect balance. They very rarely comment on the tactile inner harmony of the parts of the bass working delightfully together to give a natural resonance rarely found in a "normal" P bass but they regularly say "Ooooh look at the lovely little lights" ...
 8.
Was just wondering who near where to i am could put a high gloss on a bass and its head stock? Also would this be expensive to have done? Any info welcome By the way im in Gloucestershire
This guy is in Bristol but it's custom paint jobs so a plain high gloss may not be his cuppa http://www.randomworx.co.uk/spraypaint%20gallery.html However any custom car or bike shop should be able to do it.
 9. Nah! terrible bass ... Buy mine! But seriously, that's a deal for a MIM P
 10. Played a rocky barn dance for a brass band and their visiting mates from a vast band from Germany ..... They'd been there 3 days and had been playing and partying almost non stop however they were all still up for it. My co-frontman and caller and squeeze box bloke Steve was panicking like mad beforehand because of the potential language problems but it was Ok as most spoke pretty good English, even though it was Wiltshire. The Germans had no problems either... In the break a little Umpah quintet did a turn and filled the dance floor with lots of people dancing Tyrolean Waltzes, Polkas and a kind of Birdy Dance chicken impression After the break I switched basses and got caught out with the tuning. Normally I tune them before they go in the case and then just make sure it's oK one I get them out. I'd not had a chance to do the P5. It came out well flat according to the tuner in the zoom MFX. I tuned it and we were off. It sounded terrible so I was playing the whole tune on just on the B and E which were in tune and trying to work out what was wrong. After the first number I realised that the zoom shows the sharp notes by adding a tiny fullstop after the note letter in tehdisplay so I had tuned G and A to G# and A# ... Doh! Still suffering from big nasty dentistry on Tuesday so severe jaw ache too .. thought I'd finally started cracking up ... Great gig though - we even had three encores, one of which was a stomping and clapping one:) That doesn't happen very often
 11.
Mrs Zero warns dancers to be sure they're not wearing unsuitable shoes, but unfortunately the other day one woman wore shoes that came off as Mrs Zero was demonstrating a dance with her. Woman fell, Mrs Zero fell with her, trying to keep her up. Woman was OK, Mrs Zero is still feeling the effects two weeks (and two barn dances) later. We're doing a barn dance in a real barn in a couple of weeks, but it appears to have a flat floor so should be OK...
Yeah we get fallers. No major injuries as yet ... .. Make sure they have the right licences and insurances for that barn. The Fire people are inclined to worry about lots of power and lights in real barns ....... And why do organisers insist on putting bales on the dance floor, even like ours last Saturday - in a village hall... ? They are just the right height to catch people out.

 15. I think you'd need the all in one outfit and nail polish too though
 16.
At a conservative guess I’d say at least 8000, and realistically it could be up to as much as 15,000.
Wow, Where do you keep them all? forme currently 4 EBG's and a EUB so a total of 1554
 17.
Jon Shuker one of the best kept secrets in the High End market. (www.shukerguitars.co.uk) The price includes Postage and Packing by DHL for next day delivery to anywhere in the UK Mainland. International postage is fine but it will be chargeable.
Welcome! Jon's no secret around these parts, try a search I can't see an asking price..... EDIT oh it's £1350 and in the sub title.. That doesn't always show so you may want to add it into your original post.
 18.
If you make basses as nice as Graham's I don't think you need cheap tricks to draw punters into your website, give a new member a break!
Sorry, that's how it looked. Maybe if he'd waited a few weeks before blatantly plugging his business he would have got a different response.
 19.
I brought a Epiphone EB3 bass about 7 years ago for about £300, which was discounted at a trade show. I had the choice of that or a Mexican fender for about 10 quid more. Now it looks as though you can pick up an Epi for £200!!!! Mexican Fenders go for £450. I thought the price of things has gone up???? What with the recession!!!! What's Epiphones game?????????
Er 'cos they are a one trick pony and not that good where as a P or J is a versatile jack of all trades ...
 20. ... and anyway, how come you have tieme to do a forum, twitter, myspace and all that if you are busy making guitars? My favourite bass maker doesnt have time to scratch his ,,.. er email.. let alone do stuff like that ..
 21. Ah you are making the classic mistake of thinking anyone will even notice if you make a mistake (other than you band mates but you can control them) Unless you make a huge bloomer such as starting something verry loudly in C rather than G (guilty!) then they really won't and anyway, it's only rock and roll... If you were the lead singer or guitarist or even the drummer you'd be much more exposed than we are bumbling along undeneath it all at the back. That's whay some of us do it. It's a classic joke about being able to gig two weeks after getting our first bass but there's some truth in it
 22.
Well there’s some dispute about who played what on what. Don’t you think Jamerson pips Kaye at the post for his improvisation skills and right hand technique?
Welcome to basschat mate. If you do a search on this topic (JJ Vs CK) you'll fine acres of it to keep you amused ... The forum has a poll option, just add it to your post. However the cynic in my thinks you've read a book on driving traffic to your website using articles and forum entries ....
 23.
I've tried Jam sessions, quite a few of them. The standard of playing was very high indeed, but it came from the most unsuspecting people. I don't know if i'll ever do one again, at least not until i'm a bit older and get the due respect with that. Gig-wise, i do a lot of them and every time i put out a good performance. I'm a confident person, always have been, but as soon as i have to gig i get the most terrible exaggerated response to nerves/excitement which really does take it's toll on my playing I've yet to conquer that.
Jam sessions vary considerably. Near me there are some that just seem like normalg ggs with highly skilled players who know each other and know the tunes and the versions. They are one type. Then on a different night there's one where total beginners are welcomed and gaffs are frequent. Both have their character. Don't be put off, just get around a few and sus them out. Meanwhile here's the Weekend Warriors location list: http://www.mia.org.uk/ww_locations/
 24.
LOL, I'd watch Coopers, BRMs, Westlakes, Brabhams, Ferraris, Hondas and Loti from the 60's every weekend, that drifting style of driving is just the best IMO!
Yeah me too but I'd prefer it if they had today's safety stuff ... The death toll was had to cope with back then.
