2.
the range isn't brilliant though, i get to say 40/50 mtrs from the receiver and a iget a deffo kind of "delay" in signal, but isn't too much to worry about.
"You canna change the laws of physics" Takes time for your note to get through all that air, both ways, no matter what radio system you use.
 3.
This one.
but hasn't he used up all of its notes?
 4.
Mark King used to play one of these before he got his first ever Jaydee! Not many people know that!
OMG I have something in common with Mark King I bet his was slung higher than mine thogh

 6.
That one would be on my list, along with the P bass of George Porter,
+1
 7.
That was a Fender Jazz - with flatwounds on!!! Read it in an old interview in Bassist mag many moons ago. (or it might have been Beat Instrumental).
Ah now you come to mention it ... several takes on the Danelectro with its round wound strings, a few broken strings put the Danny's out of action (no strings available) and a final take on the Jazz. I remember that issue as I found out that both My Generation and Wishbone Ash's Argus were both done on a Jazz when for years I'd has GAS for thunderbirds to get "that" tone
 8.
They're available over here as Jim Deacon basses, exactly the same as SX except for the logo on the headstock! Hartnoll guitars sell the P for £109 delivered.
Well yes and no .. Many threads on this subject. Jim Deacon (and "Noname" ) do that nice 62 P and a basic J but nothing like the 75 style jazz SX do in this series and the rest of them.

They do a White P for about £120 and a nice 75 style jazz too. Under £200 delivered.

 11.
Hmm... doesn't bode well when your agent can't get their *own* email address right.
"oh we just had the entire site re-done" In 100% Flash ... hummmmmmmmmmmmmm
 12. Agent looking for covers and (shock horror!) originals bands. Nothing to do with me (other than we'll be registering with them) but worth a look I reckon http://www.soundmusicpromotion.com/ Edit The email on the site is wrong It should be soundmusic-at-hotmail.co.uk and not .com OG
 13.
Andy Fraser's Gibbo from 'Alright Now' and whatever Entwistle used on 'My Generation'.
Er yes and no Yes to Andy's EB3 but I'll pass on Entwhistle's temporary Danelectro Entwhistle's very early 57 P bass (number 2, I think), his 62 P bass, his Buzzard The Funk Machine, of course Robbie Shakespeare's Steinberger And from a little closer: Rich's Shuker 5 and Dood's Shuker Doodle 7 string and Doodlette 6 string. and about 1000 more ...
 14.
Far too poor at the moment, especially with the Barefaced Vintage looming over the horizon... Dunno about the price. I'm by no means an expert, but wouldn't the Hayman be a bit more desirable than the Shergolds in that list (older, rarer, all that stuff)? I know what you mean about the neck plate. I'd like to see underneath. It looks like a small mammal might have burrowed in and used it as a bed, and then as a latrine.
The Hayman (always raised snigger there) 4040 was considerd as good as a P bass at the time. It was a credible workhorse bass and a forward looking thing with those perspex bits and the coating on the fretboard. The Modular bit was revolutionary, of course. A bit gimmicky for a working bass thouggh. I'd not be surprised to see this go for upwards of £250 (but please don't offer it to me for £300 if you buy it )
 15. I had one of those way back when. I'd forgotten all about it but the pictures reminded me. That may well be it It has a coating on the fingerboard - some kind of polyurathane (?)which was different to the contemporary basses (maybe the Ric 4001 had that too?) Felt very fast and comfortable. Yep it had a huge bridge and pickup "smoked perspex" cover. That was slide fit so you could change a string. You can see the screw holes where it had neck pup cover too. They matched the scratch plate. I remember it weighing a ton and having an odd smell when things got hot on stage .. Don't remember how it sounded....
 16.
I dont agree there. We have done gigs for £2000 and still get treated badly by venues. Nothing you can do really but i wouldn't say its based on how much you are getting paid. I guess if you are a big unit they might take you more seriously but from my experience its down to the person running the event. We have encountered some right cows over the years but also a lot of nice people that understand you aren't lower than the rats in the kitchen. Again, im only talking about the circuit/level we are on.
Ah yeah but isn't that where you are dealing with a venue rather than a punter? Venues like that - clubs etc, have a band in three nights a week and you are just another supplier like the milkman or soft drinks delivery. We deal with the punter - sometimes for 18 months before their darling's wedding. We build a relationship and guide them gently through the organising of our 400th wedding and their first or second. Totally different deal. The experience above where everything went right and the agent had it all organised is not unusual (Hey Rich, remember the London "free vodka bar" gig? No? not surprised ) That is how is has to be on those big deal events. More Harvey Goldsmith than "Tracy the wedding planner" but then that event probably cost 100 grand all in. oh and +1 on the "playing weddings" thread
 17.
Heh, thanks for the plug, Oldgit! Was tempted to do it myself!
You are welcome
 18. We do our own Disco thing if it's needed. Two fo our guys stay on and do it. they ar ethe ones who house teh PA so it works out well. they get paid extra too. It means the organisers don't have to hire a DJ as well as us and thus it makes our fee easier to justify. We also have to make sure they know that if they have a DJ we'll be breaking down soon after we finish and what the means fo lighting and gear movement, and not hanging around til the party ends ...
 19.
,I would rather have a great gig and a few quid in my sky rocket than getting a wedge and not enjoying it, but that's just my two penneth
Yep.. We aim for a compromise where we enjoy it and get paid a reasonable amount.
 20.
Or alternatively, get a minter and drive over it in your car
Of course! a Roadwarn jobbie ... pass me that sander .......
 21. Back up for grabs
 22. We have a meeting each year and set guidelines for the Minister of bookings (me) to follow. ie we generally play three types of gigs, mostly. Weddings, birthdays and charities. We have a base fee (plus expenses) for each type and seldom drop below that. Certain things can justify a drop in the price, or, indeed, increase it. Anything vaguely unpleasant or in a tricky place will get a boosted fee. If they pay, fine. If they don't that's fine too as something else will come along for that date. This way no one in the band gets uppity about the fee for a gig. As I do all the booking and pre-gig liaison with the punters I can see the advantage of agency organised gigs but we never do them, even the ones where we get offered loadsamoney because they don't book us early enough to get in our diary. And, the most important bit, they are generally unpleasant gigs to play. The type where the punter treats you like staff and the staff of the venue treat you like sheeet. We have a few venues we don't play because of that. I like Rich's situation. They play covers but they play what they like how they like. There's no money in it (on an annual basis) but they have lots of fun, a pretty big following and play nice venues to adoring fans. Worth it's weight in Roscoes, that.
 23. Here you go Squier 5 string P-shaped Jazz bass ,.. for good money. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=514639
