2.
Funny you should mention the bridge - I talked to Jon about it - its a Gotoh - works well enough, but I have a Hipshot fitted on something else, which I really like - I'll wait a bit though. The neck is the best I have ever played, btw.
Jon fits that Gotoh 203 to the JJB too .. Looks Fenderish but works a load better than the standard bent tin bridge just a shame it has hose extra holes.. (from a retrofitting perspective I mean)
  3.
So do this mean mine's not a singlecut and I've been misled all along?????
OOOOooooooooh! Someone's spilled treacle on that bass!
  4.
And oh look - he's "improved" that one by hitting it against a wall. What a clever boy. J.
I asked for the serial number - it's a 1991ish MIJ 57 RI ... er.......
  5.
Not sure if this should go to the eBay section, but it's not really an auction, they've got a shop but i didn't find this bridge on their website. Anyway, what do you think? It looks rugged, like an unbranded Gotoh or something...I'm looking for a bidge for my MIM Jazz but it looks like this one requires some DIY - not my thing AT ALL lol... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Bass-Guitar-Brid...%3A1%7C294%3A30
You may be lucky and get a decent bridge for under £10.. personally I think the bridge has such a big effect on the bass that a little more investment is worth it, especially if it's not adding holes to your bass and tus can be removed later. On this one those forward screwholes will add two holes to your bass .. If you don't mind that then a Gotoh 203 may be a better choice as it's a really good simple bridge that looks like a Fender one but a bit thicker and more solid. If you don't want any extra holes I'd suggest a Gotoh 201 at under £30 on eBay instead. I've done this a few times with "bent tin" bridges and it will make a big diffference to your bass.
  6. I bet your band tell you you are too loud even when you are fine in the mix (on the dance floor). My band did when I switched to the MarkBass and Scroeder (they still do now I have Bergantino cabs) It will be the audability.. +1 on the filters. Have a chat with Mark at Bass Direct and describe what sound you are looking for and he'll be able to recommend some settings as a starting point. It's a totally different way of dealing with the sound and needs a few clues
  7. Where do you park your scrunchie on this one then?
  8. Nice one.. Congrats and welcome to the Shukerillos club ..
  9.
How do you build a single-pickup passive generic bass for £1700? Either he's telling a little fib or someone's ripped him off. Either way, what an idiot!
maybe it's a Shuker JJB with a Fender Precision decal?
  10.
I feel this is a little unfair - remember the guitar uses the HIGHEST QUALITY components- sounds like a bargain to me...best see if I can sell the Shuker quick....
Gosh yes

  12.
Bump for the bass !! Hi Simon , easy to answer here ! It's very difficult to get a precise year from Bacchus for the vintage series but yours is approximately from the mid 90's. Mine (N* 1 Bass) is a 005 and it's from 94/95 , yours I think is a 95/96 or 97 the latest. Hope this will help and good luck for the sale !! Guys don't miss this one , at this price is sure the best JB vintage like you will find. Cheers from France Fd
Thanks Dario!
  13.
Good luck with the sale Si, I'm sure she'll find a good home!!
Thanks Derek. Thanks for lending me your words too
  14.
I wish my 62 MIJ P bass sunburst with tortoiseshell and strap pin on headstock werent modified to PJ with EMGS.....
PJ's Ok
  15. Wonder if he found it in his uncle's loft ....
  16. Got this from Derek DJ2257 a few weeks ago and it's really nice. Well worth the reputation that Bacchus basses have but I really must wake up and smell the java "OldGit, you don't get on with jazz basses" So here it is .. £495 plus postage, or delivery, which is what I paid for it. The only (PX) trade I'm looking for is a '62 re-issue MIJ P bass rosewood board / strap peg on headstock. Preferably a mojo'd up older one. Here's Derek's original advert info: ---------------------------- BACCHUS (JAPAN) BJB-62 JAZZ BASS - VINTAGE SERIES The bass I have for sale here is a stunning replica of a '62 Fender Jazz in a very accurate fiesta red. It is in excellent condition having only a couple marks on the body - I would rate the condition as a good 8/10. The neck and fingerboard are both unmarked and the frets are in great condition. Playability is everything you would expect of a Bacchus - the bass is effortless to play with a nice low action. The sound is pure vintage Jazz. The attention to detail and materials used are of the highest quality. Japanese luthiery at it's best. The body is premium alder (2 piece). The finish is nitrocellulose. Bacchus made pickups. All hardware is Gotoh (I think). The fit and finish is perfect - has a nice tight neck pocket! A gigbag is included. -------------------------------------
  17.
So it's a Pete Wentz signature model then?
Can't be .. they are only £199 new here... or am I missing the "twist" bit ...
