Ta! John
That's Ok ta, I'm sorted for now but if you want to sell it on here you'll do better with pictures... or a link to a webshots gallery or somesuch
 2.
I am new to the forum but have been viewing for a long time. I am offering my 1975 Sunburst Precision (Maple Fingerboard) for sale. Before I put it on e-bay I wondered if any any of you guys out there would be interested? I much prefer the active sound of my Stingray so the precision has been under my bed in a hard case for the last 5 years! It is in good condition for its age. In terms of price I'm probably looking for around £1200. They seem to be retailing at about £1700 - £2000+ in the west end! My name is John and I live in Cranbrook in Kent - feel free to give me a call if you are interested and we can take it from there. Tel : 07968 714140. If anybody wants a demo or trial I'm more than happy to oblige! Thanks for reading!
Hi John and welcome .. Pop up some pictures? Ta
 3. Brilliant. I always assumed a Bongo would be a modern sound but that's almost upright sounding in the bit where's he's playing with his thumb.
 4.
Thanks for the tip. I think as I get older, I sweat (sorry, glow) more! Haha. Now this has changed my reasoning about gig clothes - let me give you an example. On a recent gig, I ended up mega sweaty as usual, flat out punk bass gigs tend to do that plus if you're a natural sweat-machine, well, it's ten fold. Anyway so I got mega sweaty, ended up extremely pissed and woke up on a random sofa, having slept in said sweaty clothes, overall situation normal, that top then went in the washing basket, anyway it came to the next gig and...shameful confession time, I thought f*ck it, I'm not getting a clean top sweaty, so I got the previous rancid one out of the basket, put it back on and played in it again! The plus point of this is you can dodge buying a round all night cos no one wants to get near you to challenge your skinflint ways. HAHAHAHA!!!! I think we should have a poll - how many gigs in a row, have you played in the same, stinky, sweaty, damp old threads. Haha.
ha ha 2 minutes in I'm "glowing" like billy-oh on most gigs. My previous gigging suit jacket came from a chariteeee shop and lasted about 15 years without cleaning before it mysteriously shrunk over 6 months or so and had to be replaced with a bigger one (now 5 years old, 15 suited gigs per year ...) I wash the shirts each time though .. I've started to catch a wiff of "glow" off my bass strap now though ...
 5.
Generally yes, but not always? The Sadowsky preamp is all boost isn't it? I suppose that means that their knobs don't have a centre-dent! Si
Yup, I had a bass with a Sadowsky VTC circuit for a few weeks and there was no cut... and no indents, detents or pepsidents involved ..
 6.
My apologies. Charlie Parker sold his usual alto just befor a concert to buy drugs. Dizzy and some other band members scoured the neigbourhood to buy him a new new sax. The only one they could find was a Grafton plastic sax. He played the concert and Ornette Coleman followed later.
The Grafton is a perfectly fine sax in the right hands, especially if it's been coated with Charlie Parker's mojo It was an attempt to make a sax using what was then state of the art materials. I wonder if we could get Status to try .. Now that would be a horn ...
 7.
That post by Teej is about the most sensible thing I've read this year. Kudos to him.
+1 As I said at the start - define "success" To me Teej just has and he is clearly happier than Robbie Williams with all his Major Record Company Millions.
 8. +1 to all of string cleaning (with the possible exception of the Brut trick) Wash your hands before you start playing, wipe you hands during the gig, maybe between each tune. I'm lucky, I like Elixirs and they last for ever for me. The funny "wet" feel takes a bit of getting used to though. If you try them go for the Nanoweb. The Polyweb were Gore's (of Goretex fame) first go at this and that means the strings will be years old. They also feel like strings wearing several condoms. Really horrible.
 9. Normal for active basses' tone pots. It seems to be the "neutral" point between cut and boost ...
 10. Maybe it's Love's Candle? That sounds more funky ....
 11. So nice to hear good news .. I never get the chance to crank my MB/Berg rig .. It's always on about 1
 12.
Yep...well my Orange is the same no matter what....so for my Orange it doesn't matter which I go for. I think cos Im trying to get the smallest and loudest 12+12...it may as well be a 4Ohm...hmmm... Only think is...If I go for a 800 MB head...thats 800W going through it...OUCH LOUD!
If it makes no difference I'd get the 8 ohm one simply so that you can add a second cab later for the trannie amps, should you want it for whatever reason. Jorg tells a tale of someone sticking 1100 watts flat out through one 1212L, in their garage ... "it coped for a while" was the summation. I assume the guy's neighbours then shot it, or him ...
 13.
I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but it's an old standard in romantic relationships: <snip> Then, the master-move: The palm-off.
ooh er..
 14. Well done .. Hopefully you'll not find him sabotaging your drum kit when his new band plays support to yours .. or worse, you get to support his new band as it tours the stadiums of Europe ..
 15.
Put an ad in the "for sale" section here. Either get a PayPal account, or specify that you will only accept cash on collection. It will reduce the size of your market, and probably the amount that you can get for it, but at least you'll manage to shift it. Another option is gumtree. S.P.
Or electronic bank transfer or cheque or postal order ...
 16. Don't valve amps give you the same amount of ooomph into 4 or 8 ohms?
 17.
What's the definition of perfect pitch?
Banjo > skip > 25 meters
 18. Not mine ... ebay link
 19.
Did most people who own the 1212L go for 4 Ohm?
I did but then I'd wished I'd got an 8 ohm so I coud add another for thr height and stack, not for the volume.
 20.
I doubt it'll sell unless it is the size of a bungalow and has 3 dummy speakers in it
Ha ha That's one thing the OP should consider .. the little Schroeders or Bergs or Barefaced will keep up with a Marshall full stack but people will be looking for the rest of your stack 'cos it will look a bit silly in conventional terms
 21.
I have excessive gear but I have trouble parting with stuff. I need to get to grips with selling on eBay really, I have two good guitars and a good bass that have to go really.
Sell them here ...
 22.
I'm pretty good with photoshop, but then I do use it for my job. I was considering getting my Status upgraded by Sims, so I did a mock-up of what I wanted. These are my before/after pictures:
should I give up now?
 23.
I can't sell it as it was bought by my parents as a 21st birthday present.
There you go, another good reason to never pay for your kids' instruments .. Make them work for 'em like we did
 24.
A Mars bar would've done! Now I know you're willing to offer more I think I'll just wait it out I know what I have isn't excessive, but I feel that I don't use the little that I do have. Finances aren't an issue, so in that respect there's no problem. I'm just curious to find out how other people approach this, and hopefully grab some pearls of wisdom regarding gear acquisition. There's already been a few! Mark
Ha ha you just need another outlet for your GAS .. Saxophone's pretty good for that..
