1. I managed to kill my MB amp last night. The sound went but the power light stayed on. 5 mins later it's almost bursting into flames. Smoke shooting out of the vents like nobodies business ha ha. Thing was, I never drive it to clipping point and I don't really push the power section 'that' hard either!!! Oh well, it was good while it lasted. It's only 3 years old though I wouldn've thought it'd last a lot longer than that. I'm wondering if there's any point at all in contacting Proel/MB about it. Edit: I took it apart to see what had happened and I'd done some serious damage to the PCB, talk about chargrilled!!! Loads of components had melted etc... I took a series of photos of the innards, so i'll email them to MB at some point and ask them about their supposed miniscule component failure rate.
2. Guys I've got this great ibanez blazer which i'm considering selling on. It's a really solid bass, but i've decided to go back to 2 main basses permanently, being my spector and my ripper. I really don't want to sell it but financial reasons prevail. It's the first version of the blazer with the jazz style offset body and pbass neck. It's natural ash with a one piece maple neck and black scratcher. Really good look and sound. This has a massive humbucker @ bridge position and as such really growls. It's in excellent condition for a 28 year old bass. It'd give it a 8.5-9/10 in terms of condition etc. It's been set up by Dave Dearnaley in Cardiff who changed the nut out to a brass one and polished/levelled the frets. He went all over the passive electronics as well. He really knows his stuff and said that this bass easy stands up to early p basses, rings like a piano he said. In fact he didn't want to give it back to me!! The tuners are the classic sweetheart style and are rock solid. Maximum stability. Stays in tune forever!! All in all a beautiful bass with a beautiful sound. Comes with own hardcase. £250 + postage "Corr it's bleedin lovely" "A headstock for the discerning gentleman" "Untill it's sold, Max is taking good care of this bass"
3. Hey all I've got this ripper bass and it's a beaut. I love everything about it, the sound, the feel and the playability. However, the tuners I feel could do with being upgraded for more stability and accuracy. Not that they're bad or anything, but I just feel that a tuner upgrade would really seal the deal. Something with a high gear ratio and as lightweight as possible. Hipshots anyone? I was wondering if anyone knows of direct gibson replacements, tuners that wouldn't require any drilling/mods. I'm going to have to get the tape measure out and do some direct comparisons between tuners, but if anyone's got any helpful pointers, holla yo!

10. I had the protection circuit go on my MB amp before. It was as a result of a very long jam in a very warm room with poor ventilation. By the time I got home and let it cool down it worked fine much to my suprise. That's the only hiccup i've ever had.

12. That thumb rest looks really practical. I'm liking that! That would really open up the tone options on say a p/j set up.
13. OBBM ftw, in fact i've just given bassic cables a shout out on my albums thanks list
14. It's gonna have to be south of heaven or hell awaits!

20. Amps: Fender BXL 15 combo thingy (rattled like nobodies business, still, it did the job at the time) Trace Elliott GP7 (blew this one up and had it repaired many a time before I retired it - nice sound) Fender bassman 135 (sold on, regretted!) Boogie 400+ (sold on to CK, regretted!) Markbass 450 slim (still my current head) Trace 1x15 (moved on to Nash I think) Fender 4x10 (pawned it off to a shop for a compressor and some cash) Markbass 1x15 (sold to Higgie) Markbass 4x10 (sold to Higgie) Berg NV610 (current cab) Best looking amp - Definitely not the MB. It's gonna have to be the stealthy look of the boogie.. Loudest Amp - Boogie 400+ without as doubt. This amp can demolish anything at a 1000 paces. I could never get above 2 on the master. Best Live Sound - Bassman 135 I guess. I liked the twang on this one. Bought it from a mate after many years of twisting his arm. Best Studio Sound - Markbass/NV610 Just recorded my debut with this setup Most Commented Upon (positive) Live Sound from Punters - Bassman 135. Well the guys in the band dug the tone. Most Frustrating Set Up to get a sound out of - They all sounded cool imo.
21. How did the dredgetone work out Higgie? Nice set up. Those cabs look familiar as well ;-)
22. Yo. Pontypridd here. Welcome.
