John Entwistle used an 8 string bass on occasion, two songs which I can remember offhand are - You (off Faces Dances) Trick Of The Light (off Who Are You) I *think* he used one for the intro of 'Success Story' too, but I'm not sure about this. Great sound anyway Hope this helps! Danny

AFAIK the guy has stopped making guitars and basses as custom orders. He just makes them now as a hobby and sells them when he's done. Luke Ward has one I believe, a Precision Bass, you can spy him on the Bravewood site with it if you look hard enough! I'd love one too myself, but sadly when I got in contact with them I was given the bad news!

I had this same problem with Internet Explorer 7, on this site and others. Firefox is normal though, hence my change of browser!

I've bitten the bullet and put a set of Rotosound Jazz 77 flatwounds (45-105) on my Warwick. Recently I've been wanting a more vintage, thumpy sound as opposed to a hifi sound, and as I've got an approximate EQ I thought I'd back it up with a nice set of flats! Initial impressions - they feel a lot different, even to the TI flats I have on my fretless, they're quite grippy actually which is a good thing. The tension is also noticeably higher than the rounds I used before, the D'Addario Prosteels. I find that playing nearer the neck helps even out the response that I was used to. Haven't tried it through an amp yet, but through my Pandora PX4B it sounds great - no sharp high end, even when the treble is rolled up full, and a nice even response across the strings. Happy customer here so far

You'll need some sort of preamp/interface in order to convert the signal level output of your bass to line level. An active bass will only have a slightly higher output than a passive (in most cases), but in order for you to make the most of your Line In, you'll need a Line Level signal.

You could of course buy the official Fender aftermarket ones, although they require a more permanent installation. They'd certainly look (and sound) the dogs if you had a Fender. [url="http://www.basspartsresource.com/bhardware_mutes.htm"]Linkage[/url]

A fretless is always a useful tool to have in your arsenal. You never know when the time might come when ONLY that sound will do, especially if you're used to playing sessions. It's also a great skill to be able to play fretless in tune, and as you know when you go out of practice for a while, it's very hard to slide back into your usual patterns (pun absolutely intended) I'd keep it just for the purposes of being a more versatile bassist overall! Hello all, I may have to ship my SVT-4PRO head and a rack case within the next few weeks, and I was just wondering what the best way to do it is? It's a heavy beast, and I'm not sure every courier would carry it. Would the rack case be strong enough with a couple of layers of cardboard to protect it, or would I need something stronger? Thanks for any advice guys, Danny

I'd say out of those three you mentioned, definitely yes! Flea is just an imitator (in more ways than one it seems )

Mine is 34" in length. I totally agree with 'paul, the' above - I bought my Warwick on a whim a few years ago and didn't get on with it at first, however now I've grown so attached to it that when I play another bass, it just feels odd.
