  2. Had the pleasure of doing business with Stew - highly recommended and a credit to the forum 😀
  3. That's certainly my view of the brand anyway as a 30-something year old. They are a bit archaic.
  4. See also - Sadowsky. To my mind, their decision to take the above approach has diluted the quality of a brand which would once have had the same reputation as Fodera etc.

  6. Di Marzio are on the verge of releasing a Relentless J pickup/set. I saw Billy Sheehan mentioning it somewhere within the last week.
  7. I have quite a bit of experience with the A&H apps and can give you the following advice (apologies if it sounds obvious) 1. Have your IEMs on a stereo mix if possible. That way you can pan the guitars/vox left or right and keep your bass central. 2. Are you sending any FX to your IEM mix by mistake? Bass could have reverb applied mistakenly? I only have a select few channels saved for quick access on my apps but periodically I will add them all and check to see if our mix engineer might have tweaked something by mistake. 3. Is the gain input for the bass channel on your desk set too high/low if you PFL it? 4. Have you tried plugging the bass into another channel to see if it might be the preamp on your usual channel at fault? 5. Check your GEQ/Compressor on the mix app to see if it might be interfering with your tone. I hope this helps somewhat. I've heard that earphones with ambient ports sacrifice a bit of low end at the expense of stage bleed, which is desirable for some.
  8. Went back to J with flats for most of my live gigs and wow, what a tone!

  14. I love the La Bella Deep Talking flats. 760FS, 45 to 105. The perfect flatwound IMO - so balanced from high to low.
  15. A quick update - I think the NYXLs are now my round of choice! Fantastic tone and feel!
  16. I used Squier CV basses for years and was proud of the name on the headstock. Sometimes I would play at festival gigs and the soundman/other bassist would say 'wow' when they saw I was playing a Squier and not a Fender. My basses were modded to suit however with CS pickups etc, and I don't think there is really any discernible difference in tone. Essentially it's just a string vibrating within a magnetic field wired to a tone control and output jack. However, having bought a few US Fenders recently I can say that they are absolutely better instruments all round. The necks on them are superb - I love the quartersawn maple, satin finish, rolled fret edges and lightweight tuners. The hardware on a whole is much better - the bridges have channels to ground the saddles for extra stability, the pickups are great and the basses themselves feel very lightweight. Despite my stubbornness for years, I am now a convert to US Fenders
  17. Are those Fat Fingers attached to the headstock?
  18. Three here, plus dep work. 1. Large scale concerts and shows nationwide - mostly weekend work 2. A regular Thursday pop gig which doesn't clash with the above. 3. A bi-monthly rock band gig with friends.
  19. Level 42 and Mark King are awful. Horrible sounding bass playing and warbly Butlins vocals.
  20. Rock, Metal, Punk and Grunge from the Kerrang era (early 2000s)
  21. After 15 years of playing wedding cheese I started a band with a great bunch of guys to play all my favourite music from my youth etc. We do about 1 gig a month but it is the most cathartic experience every time. Wish I had done it 10 years ago!
  22. The ZS10 are great VFM, think they are about £40 on Amazon for a triple driver universal fit earphone. Highly recommended!
