  1. I had a Zoot for a while - very flat neck IIRC. I think that we're spoilt for choice for home grown Basses. I've owned many on the list - loved my GB Rumour - probably one of the best basses I've ever played and Bernie is a pure gentleman. Also had Overwater/ Wal/ Shuker/ Status - all quality instruments which I'd have no hesitation recommending.
  2. Prefer the Paul Anka version TBH.... Back to Black - Amy Winehouse
  3. I would like to see what the consensus (here on BC...🤣😂🤣) is on this track. It's on YT more than once - each have several million hits. Not your "typical" slap.
  4. I posted on another thread about leather pickguards - a la early Wals. The materials are cheap (£5ish) but getting a professional finish is beyond my basic skills and toolbox.
  5. I had a four string in pewter but it was a late model with BBOT bridge instead of the high mass bridges which come as stock on the earlier models.
  6. I've owned both the Fender (above) and a Spectorcore (also above) - been disappointed by both. They seem to have many owners, for a short time and get moved on. Mine eventually sold - via my buyer - to somebody on the continent - hopefully they have a better experience than I did.
  7. I have that same bridge on one of my custom builds - bloody heavy - mine suffers from the opposite of neck dive - body dive??
  8. What type? v
  9. Unless you disagree with me....obviously.😉😉
  10. OP seems to be taking this well... It would really bug me.... (sorry....couldn't help myself)
  11. I have a Markbass Head in something similar... Just checked the labels - Black Rat
  12. Hot Pants Explosion - B52s
  13. Fat bottom girls - Queen
  14. Mirror in the Bathroom - The Beat
  15. Oops upside your head - The Gap Band
  16. Girls, girls, girls - Sailor
  17. Good... The local gentry do this sort of thing regularly round here. Lord XXXX was fined £5k after he ordered a 300+ year old Oak to be cut down so that another 4 flats could be built on a plot. Each flat was about £200k. (sorry, couldn't find the article)
  18. I'd have a look at some of @bubinga5's posts - they generally contain some great performances. I'm scared to now as they generally result in me buying more albums....
  19. So we're both right..👍👍..

  23. Ashdown provide the best Customer service on the planet and they're built by craftsmen in the UK at very reasonable prices. Can't ask for much more - my next new amp will be an Ashdown.
  24. As somebody said above, generally, the only people who can tell the difference are other bass players and the various tests at Bass Bashes I've attended suggests that even we don't do that well on this front. Maybe there is some placebo effect when we play something we gel with - if that's the case with an expensive, vintage instrument then go for it. Many can get the same from low end instruments - I swear that the easiest basses to play I own are my Bass Collection Nanyos. Love the necks, love the tonal palette - makes me enjoy playing more - I think I play better.. A friend of mine did a blind fold test of Gibson LP style guitars and ended up buying the cheapest (which he preferred most). I used to take new purchases to a friend's for his opinion - he rarely liked them - he always preferred his own MM Ray - I couldn't get it, I felt it was "ordinary". Clearly what suits one, doesn't suit another. ATEOTD the instrument only has to please ONE person - the person playing it!!
