  11. Good... The local gentry do this sort of thing regularly round here. Lord XXXX was fined £5k after he ordered a 300+ year old Oak to be cut down so that another 4 flats could be built on a plot. Each flat was about £200k. (sorry, couldn't find the article)
  12. I'd have a look at some of @bubinga5's posts - they generally contain some great performances. I'm scared to now as they generally result in me buying more albums....
  13. So we're both right..👍👍..

  17. Ashdown provide the best Customer service on the planet and they're built by craftsmen in the UK at very reasonable prices. Can't ask for much more - my next new amp will be an Ashdown.
  18. As somebody said above, generally, the only people who can tell the difference are other bass players and the various tests at Bass Bashes I've attended suggests that even we don't do that well on this front. Maybe there is some placebo effect when we play something we gel with - if that's the case with an expensive, vintage instrument then go for it. Many can get the same from low end instruments - I swear that the easiest basses to play I own are my Bass Collection Nanyos. Love the necks, love the tonal palette - makes me enjoy playing more - I think I play better.. A friend of mine did a blind fold test of Gibson LP style guitars and ended up buying the cheapest (which he preferred most). I used to take new purchases to a friend's for his opinion - he rarely liked them - he always preferred his own MM Ray - I couldn't get it, I felt it was "ordinary". Clearly what suits one, doesn't suit another. ATEOTD the instrument only has to please ONE person - the person playing it!!
  19. Lozz bought a Hipshot DeTuner from me which I'd bought for a project which didn't happen. Glad that it ended up somewhere where it's going to get used. I lent him a Squier PJ at the same time - I feel jazzes are limited - Lozz feels the same about Precisions so the progression into PJs seemed logical to me - gives him the opportunity to test the water before diving in. Usual setting the world to rights and chatting about the forum. We even discussed putting on another local Bash once the restrictions are relaxed.... I don't need to tell you what an asset he is to this forum - we'll inevitably do business again at some point....you could too.
  20. We all owe him a great debt....
  21. Kinky Boots - McNee and Blackman...30 seconds too late. Crocodile shoes - Jimmy Nail
  22. Superfreak - Rick James
  23. I wasn't being quarrelsome - just that there are so many great/ inspirational bassists that the many pointless lists which are churned out periodically are meaningless. That's why I suggested picking genre and looking at players who made a name for themselves in those genre.... Thankfully, bassists are now getting recognition for their contributions where they didn't years ago...
  24. Noel Redding didn't get the recognition he deserved...
