  1. I haven't put my hands on it yet - in the post tomorrow. Seller says he took it to his local luthier who reports the truss rod is maxed out - some say it's just a matter of adding a couple of washers (though so far all I know is 5mm internal, no external measurement). One parts supplier suggested that Yamahas (well actually Ibanez) don't use single action trussrods. As far as I can tell this is. Anybody know better? (I'm assuming that @AndyTravis does). Photos to follow. I have absolute faith in Gary's work - he set up my HB Tele - and though I'm no expert, guitarists who have tried it have made positive noises.
  2. Love a green bass!! Pick ups look amazing - 3Ps and a humbucker??? Can't wait for soundclips...
  3. I think that @bubinga5 made a similar comment a while back.
  4. Just found the theme swap button. First impressions are positive.
  5. You wouldn't need to walk - they have trains and roads down South.
  6. I like it....sadly, I would probably buy one...
  7. Can't you cover the gouge by inserting something like a badge/logo in the first fret?
  8. 425x - Soon to be in the Travis' household??
  9. £300 is a very healthy budget nowadays - lots of basses in that price bracket. Try as many as you can before committing.
  10. I'm sure there are owners here who would like to know what you took off and whether it's for sale.
  11. Same as...and I use light strings. I'll need to scrounge some washers (if it's that easy), Worst case scenario I'll need to visit a local luthier (probably @gary mac)
  12. Yamaha BB615 - I'll be changing the strings. Somebody suggested "a couple of washers" on the truss rod - no mention of the size though. I'm looking at "Luthier supplies" between spending time here.
  13. Sellers says..."apparently the truss rod is adjusted to the max." What's the solution?
  14. I'm confused...when has this ever been a consideration when we bought another bass?
  15. I haven't got one...nobody's forcing you to voice your opinion.
  16. A very nice SBV which I do/don't want on Gumtree. https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/rare-yamaha-sbv-500-bass/1405867759 Please send help...... or used £10 notes
  17. They are quite difficult to come by generally (though there is one for sale in the BC marketplace) have you consider Schroeder? I have a pair of the Mini 8L cabs which are amazing - tiny little things that make a HUGE noise. If you're after lightweight and powerful I would highly recommend these.
  18. I'll do my best to resist but I can't say I'll be successful... I know this is a lovely bass - trying to stick to 5ers currently. Would you consider trades or p/x??
  19. Niiiice...
  20. Made in USA or Indonesia?
  21. If I needed a 4 string P bass I'd be tearing your arm off. Sadly I'm trying to stick to 5ers so will pass and wish you luck with the sale. Somebody buy this before I crumble and change my mind
  22. Can we now get rid of 3 of the 4 threads about "No trades" in "Items wanted"- I think you got your point across.
  23. There's a whole thread about the Nanyos here: You most likely to come across the 3 series - 301 is passive, 310 active, 320 active plus better woods and pick ups.
  24. If you can find one, the Bass Collection Nanyo SGC basses are a good buy in your budget. Very playable - great tones on the PJ (not so much on the JJ), nice necks, very well built. They are a bit 1980s but great basses all the same
  25. From the nut (the normally white plastic thing) to the saddles on the bridge. Nut Bridge saddles
