1. Just got round to listening to this, the Warwick star for me was awesome and the alembic second but for different reasons.
2. two sets of windings or a tapped winding on an output transformer for a valve amp = economics or a solid state amp that doesn't really care what your impedance is = economics.
3. Buy a mid 70s P and post pics so I can feel like I bought it.
4. Bought mine yesterday. I think it's superb. Very versatile, the toneprints are good (although the spectra comp hasn't worked for me yet) loud enough to cause my wife to threaten divorce and a headphone and blanaced DI out.
5. In my experience anti depressants are great IF they are used to get someone to a place they can attend therapy and work on what the real issue is. I also don't hold with traditional long drawn out therapy techniques. I've seen dramatic improvements in my own mind with NLP and the like. Depression is no joke, we burried a friend of mine a couple of weeks ago because he took his own life.
6. I was listening to the sound of an EL34 arcing itself to death. Now listening to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6hF6Wvs2ko
7. Huw that is superb. Might have to pull my synth out of the cupboard.
8. totally left field but see if you can go and see an NLP practitioner rather who can really help you help yourself and then you can get off the meds. Failing that buy Anthony Robbins book Ultimate Power and help yourself.
9. Bernadette is one of my favourite basslines of all time.
10. Despite having 'played' the bass for some time I'd actually go t no where with learning to play. I'd have periods where I'd practice something random everyday for a couple of weeks and then would not bother again for months. This pattern has existed before in other things I've tried (apart from drums that I worked really hard at when I was having lessons). So I thought that a teacher was needed to get me on a path and give me the motivation needed to be consistent in my practice and learning. So yesterday I had my first lesson with Chris (dudewheresmybass from this forum) and we quickly established where I was in terms of fundamentals and where I wanted to go. We were working on some blues progressions with syncopation and it became clear I'd lost the ability to read music and play at the same time. So that's what I'm doing as home work. Since leaving his place at 9 last night I've done 3 hours practice
11.
So yes, looking at it this way is all good.
Nice one.
12. When you listen to some isolated bass tracks from records you love the bass sounds are often a lot noisier than you'd heard with the other instruments on top.
13. At the risk of becoming your unpaid therapist
I've put a lot of effort in learning their tunes and recording some of them which entailed a very steep learning curve and a lot of graft.
Did you enjoy this process? did you only do it because you thought you were going to get fame and fortune or because you wanted to?
So I'm a bit gutted tbh.
A perfectly natural feeling but get your greiving done and focus on what's next for you.
Also feel like a bit of a dickhead thinking we could get the old magic back.
Dare to dream, a life chasing your goals is a life well spent. Think about what part of this you really enjoyed. Learning songs? Writing songs? Rehearsing? Gigging? Now think about what of those you really want to do again, think about how god you felt and how good you'll feel next time. You should then have a plan. Either start a new band (think about how exciting that will be looking for people, meeting new guys, forging friendships), put an ad up in the local shop saying you are available etc. You've been given an opportunity to do something that YOU want to do, seize it and stop feeling sorry for yourself
14. I was always drawn to the TC Electronic stuff but given the fact I rarely leave the house with my bass and if I do there is generally an amp to plug into I thought them too expensive. At £325 I'm probably going to get one of these for home and jamming with my pals. Starting selling off some drum stuff on the Ebay to pay for it
15. I jsut read the youtube comments. Oh my!
16. The majority of my drum practice was spent on a practice pad playing rudiments to a metronome at all speeds. It's amazing how hard just hitting left/right/left/right is at 60 bpm for 10 minutes.
17. I think I'm going to have to cut bits off my bass so I can get a mono.
18. I want a Mono but my bass is slightly too big for one.
19. I don't get any fret noise with mine at all, might be worth checking your setup. My deep talkin flats feel so nice under the fingers, so smooth.
20.
Closely followed by White Stripes' 'One Nation Army'
Do they have a bass player?
