1. I have on occasion searched the web for Japanese slap bass battles.
2.
They don't always snap, they are just more likely to if string-through.
I should have said haven't snapped yet
3. FWIW I've through strung mine and they haven't snapped. I was very careful and the angle doesn't look 'that' bad.
4. I'll have a look at the output trannies tonight, I have a feeling they are nothing special. Thanks for the advice.
5. Morning all. I have had in my posession a Moody BA40 Bassman head from the 60s http://www.grouseguitars.com.au/sold/moodyba40.htm for many years and have only used it once for guitar through a Marshall 4x12 (and it was glorious). I know it's a little shy in the power stakes but I'd really like to get a cab and play my bass through it (I have a feeling my P with flats is going to go very nicely with it). So any recomendations as to what cab I should get or build? Obviously it's not going to be ultra versatile but I'm not with a band and have a Sansamp for home recording if I need something different. Ta

7. I put Labellas on my P bass in December and it was a revelation, that bass will always have flats from now on.
8. The Aria weighs 5.1kg (11.2 lbs) I thought it would have been more. That's with the strap on.
9. Once this record is finished I'm going to weigh my basses.
10. Was using GStrings but had trouble with the E plus trying to tune a guitar at a gig jsut did not work, had to go to the car park
11. This is a fascinating thread. I've got a 2 octave controller (and a full size stage piano) and have used VST instruments for my synth parts. I've not done it for a long time though, the alst thing I did must have been 5 years ago and I was using a lot of very low sounds.
12.
You need a cheap electronic kit for a bit of home practice.
I've thought about it a lot. I've got a V Drum practice thing that I do my rudiments and stick control stuff on http://www.roland.co.uk/products/productdetails.aspx?p=715&c=62 Trouble is when I played drums last month my feet didn't work any more It's a shame as I used to be OK at it.
13.
It took us years to find a drummer who was good but only into the odd get together, mostly they at least wanted a gigging band, luckily we found a decent one in the end, I'd like to set up a similar thing closer to home but the thought of trying to locate another drummer is putting me off.
That would have suited me down to the ground. I'd do that now if I had somemeans of practicing at home.
14. I have been a musical fraud for years. Learnings songs, playing the same stuff over and over, not knowing any of the notes on the fret board etc. I decided to change that this week and have started working hard. I'm not instant on the notes yet but I know where they are with a second or so thought. I've been learning the actual notes in scales (and the intervals to make them rather than just learning it parrot fashion) and then applying that to the fretboard rather than just learn a shape (which I didn't really know either). I came home from work, found the chords to a song I liked and gradually built up my own bassline based on the chord notes (not just root and fifths based on shapes). I've got a good book on Scales am going to have a lesson soon and am generally feeling good about it all.
15. http://www.levysleathers.com/product;cat,828;item,662;Straps-PM48NP3 I got one of these for my Aria which is super heavy. It's much better than the regular Levy one I had before.
16. I stopped playing drums to play the bass (although I still have a very nice 60s Ludwig kit). Most drummers I've met have been rubbish exactly as you describe. People just don't listen and it's fairly easy to learn a couple of beats and have at it.
17. Bad luck, there must be a way to keep your fingers 'conditioned' might need to invenet a little device you put your fingers in and it rubs strings over them
18. Good luck with the gig. I drove myself to hospital once and got my arm put in plaster. Had to file it down as I was unable to change gear with it the way it was and my van was in the car park.
19. Is the singer the tiny one who wears glasses?
20. The chances are I'd be replaced on any album by a good session musician anyway
21. The first one reminds me of Pavement and I love Pavement. Second one had me in mind of Alanis Morrisette for some reason.
22. Very eas yto deal with, no issues whatsoever buying my bass from Austria. Came well packaged and quickly.
