1. Just do it! Ampeg tone in a little box and plenty of volume for most situations. The head comes with a di and a very effective and discreet compressor. What's not to like? And, even new, you'll not be breaking the bank! Truckstop
2. Although I don't have the PF210, I have a Classic 210 and from what I've gathered they're quite similar in volume levels and tone. My little rig's loud enough to fill a fairly large room with plenty of bass in a 5-piece band and that was only with the volume on 6! I was thinking of nabbing the PF210 off Buff, but decided against it as he 210HE is so similar! Truckstop
3. Somebody mentioned Dave Meros but no-one's put any clips up! Spocks Beard are one of my favourite modern prog bands. Last great album was Snow, but also really enjoyed Feel Euphoria and Octane. Havent really given X much of a chance yet. Anyway, here's a clip with some lovely rich Rick tone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rdu0-6SXhA4 Truckstop
4. Argh, one of the things I've been gassing for for a while! And you're only around the corner from me (I'm in London Colney)! Alas, skint Bump for a lovely bass! Truckstop
5. I would still go with concrete floor but don't go right up to the edges. Leave about 4-5" around the cellar walls and pack it with high density foam before building a floor over the whole lot. Should stop the vibrations through the floor spilling up the walls too much I think? Truckstop
6. Or anyone elses bin for that matter. Truckstop
7.
today...some awesome metal alongside the best youtuber's home-made vid i've seen. the band being Dimmu Borgir.
Yeah, so that doesnt creep me out in the slightest Truckstop
8. Argh, I've been gassing for one of these for ages! Gonna have to wait until they start turning up second hand Truckstop
9. That'd be lovely if you could find out for me! Well want an expression pedal for use with the synths! Cheers Alex
10. +1 I'm using a boss me20b, which I'm well happy with, but I'm looking to get a dedicated octaver and delay because I find the ones on the multi fx a little lacking in power. Also it's nice to have lots of toys! Truckstop
11. Don't forget gumtree and lemonrock! Truckstop
12. Laney have some great gear. For a while I believe Opeth used Laney for the entire back line. Not sure if they still do? Truckstop
13. Another vote for 12 Bar! All we could do was set the drums up on the stage and the rest of use were on the floor! Such a wick night, no photos from the show because the room was so packed everything just ended up as a blur. Went home at 3am with cracked ribs and concussion after getting jumped on by the singer. Amazingly, bass ended up untouched! The changing room's the alley innit? Got one of my tattoos in that there alley waiting around for Ted Maul to turn up a few years ago. Another amazing gig! 14. Perhaps adjust your technique slightly and dig in a little more? Ive always been a pretty agressive fingerstyle player, but recently took some lessons to soften it up a little and now I can see how much of a difference it makes tone-wise. I play soft for more dubby, smooth songs and I dig in for more heavy songs but leave the amp on the same settings. Works for me! Also maybe try playing a little closer to the bridge and bumping the bridge pup volume? For what its worth, my PF500/210HE rig has plenty of growl and I only leave the gain on 4 and leave the controls pretty much flat. Truckstop
15. Cheers mate! Truckstop
16. Would anyone happen to know if the Octave function on the Boss ME20b is based on the OC-2 or the OC-3? I well like the octaver on the ME20b, but I was wondering it might be handy to have another different type for different songs. This one I find quite synthy which is great for when I'm covering songs like 'Crazy' and 'Pricetag'; but I was thinking another smoother one might be useful? Im asking if they're based on the OC2 or OC3 because I dont want to buy one in the future and find I've already got it on the MultiFX!! Cheers in advance! Alex
17. I think someone could make a bit of money by providing a catalogue of accurate tabs, dots and notation scripts via some sort of app for iPad. Charge £0.79 a song and you're laughing!! Get on it Bilbo! Truckstop
18. Brass does look nice. I like the old skool '80's Statii with the lovely solid brass bridges, and after a few years it develops a lovely patina and goes so well with natural wood basses. Truckstoo
19. Jeans and a tshirt is fine! I used to wear baseball caps, check shirts and beach shorts to gigs in my death metal band. Got some pics somewhere... Truckstop Edit: Found a piccie. no cap, sadly. Fell off within seconds at that particular gig!
20. I'm beginning to slightly regret selling my 5er. I didn't realise how much I like having a low B I guess I'm just used to ERB's having used 6ers for 8 of my 10 years playing bass. Truckstop
21. There's a great ART BCC (bass control centre) on sale here on the forum! Being sold by Eude, it's a great bit of kit. If I didnt already have my Boss ME-20b, I'd be on it! Multi fx are a great way to explore various effects and see how they can work for without spending too much cash. Most multi fx units have as many adjustable parameters as on single units so can be really quite versatile. Definitely cheaper and easier (don't need to buy loads of patch leads, noise suppressors, power supplies) than experimenting with single units. Anyway, Muse tone is possible with a decent fuzz. There's a couple of threads on this forum about it, do a search (top right hand corner) an see what it turns up! Truckstop
22. Funnily enough I passed on an '80 last year because I don't like the headstock shape! Fickle aren't I?! Anyway, let us know how it works out with the bridge swap innit. Cheers Alex
23. If you dont like the tone you get from the bridge, I'll have it as a spare for mine! Also, where's the rest of the Blazer? If it's in bits, I'll have that aswell! Anyway, I think you should expect an increase in sustain apart from that I don't think you'll notice a difference in tone at all. I mean, a different set of strings will make more of a difference to your tone! Fit it anyway because brass bridges look wicked! Cheers Truckstop
