  1. Well you could put a whole bottle of wine in it, which is more than you can say for a pint glass...
  2. The DiMarzio looks as if it might have come from a Vox Standard; quite a lot of Standards were cannibalised for the pup, IIUC.
  3. That's bigger than my teapot.
  4. Went for £72, it appears. Anyone here nab it?
  5. Vaguely reminds me of the Money Programme theme. Same writer, maybe?
  6. And one of those layered hats, I hope
  7. Gone. (Probably just as well, really...)
  8. It would be quite portable, I suppose.
  9. Nor me. Might be someone's perfect bass, though - at least for gigging.
  10. I'm very glad that's not fretless, and so is my bank manager... GLWTS!
  11. Including the invoice...
  12. Blimey. It even comes with symmetrical damage on the horns...
  13. I think it's probably a good thing Discreet hasn't found this thread yet
  14. Not a fan, partly because it's so obviously blingy and partly because of the reputation it has for wearing off. That may be because I'm behind the times though.
  15. According to my sister (she tried to learn a few years ago), bassoons are bl00dy expensive and quite demanding to learn. Also the whole wind-instrument transposing thing seems silly to me. How hard can it be to write stuff down sensibly?!
  16. That headstock's hideous.
  17. I have actually got a tripleneck bass, made by Krappy Guitars IIRC. But it does only have six strings - three strings on one neck , two on another, and a single lonely string all on its tod. No, I have no idea what it's for either. Microtuning occurred to me, maybe made to play with several "folk" instruments each with a different fundamental pitch.
  18. Probably just a sticker, but isn't this exactly where you'd expect to find wear from the forearm? Worth asking him for another pic, if you're really interested, IMO.
  19. Acoustic bass guitar. I don't mind the lack of volume, but the body shape's ridiculously uncomfortable and they seem very fragile. (Why I'm more worried than with a cello, I have no idea...)
  20. Part of the problem, for me at least, is that tastes change (more electronica, etc.) and the market is more crowded - not least because there's an ever-longer list of stuff to listen to. The rise of electronic systems means also that there's less point in going to see live bands, because the interaction between people just isn't there.
  21. That bridge pic... Painful to look at. (You was warned...!)

    Odd balls

I had a Retrovibe prototype for a Les Paul-style series of basses which never went into production. Moved on maybe four years ago (to DarkHeart, who didn't get on with it IIRC) - no pics, sadly.
