1.
When I was at school any instrument that used electricity was taboo. There were no rehearsal rooms, let alone the stuff you get in schools these days. ...
This. And drums as well.
2. What does it sound like? (Not after a sound sample, just a couple of words
3. I bought some flats from Graeme. All very smooth and with good communications. I'd be pleased to deal with him again. Thanks
4. I had a very brief go on morgano's Warmoth when I bought his Hartke kickback, and it's really nice. If this is a matching neck, it'll be lovely
5. I'm not generally a fan of Antigua, but I do like that. I think it's the way the edge of the scratchplate echoes the edge of the body.
6. BC member tommorichards had an Epi Blackbird for sale a couple of weeks back.
7. I'm old enough that it was classical-instruments-only if you wanted to do music at GCE or A-level. (I think back then I agreed, as well. What a ditz I was.)
8. pretty... Would an Italia Mondial Classic float your boat? Black. Cash my way.
9.
... I've been looking for a cheap unlined fretless. I'm bloody tempted to go for this: http://www.thomann.d...ser_b_stock.htm But, perhaps I should hold out for something better.
I had one of those or something very similar, bought four years ago so the model might be different? Excellent for the price; the nut needed lowering and the knobs were cheap and not very straight.
10.
Might be neater and easier to open up the pocket by a millimeter then reduce the neck.
I'm surprised. Is it really easier to open up the pocket than to get at the sides of the neck? How does that work, please?
11.
I have a few irons in the fire but I'm just not feeling it lately. I'd like an upright gig but I don't feel good enough to try joining anyone decent yet. Without sounding like an arse I can play it and I'm sure there are many players gigging on elec bass at a similar standard to my upright standard but its a long way off my normal ability on elec bass if that makes sense?
Join somebody sub-decent, and drag them up with you
12. I bought a Westone P-pup from Alan. Nice simple transaction; all as advertised, arrived quickly and decently packaged. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again. Thanks Alan
13. Lou touring Sally Can't Dance (I think) and sounding quite unlike his usual self. Prakash John on bass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uc26EFI1_nw
14. Bump for a nice guy and trustworthy seller.
15.
OK it's not the prettiest Jazz in the world, but nothing a scratchplate wouldn't sort. The price seems fair to me, & the sellers' description is accurate. Here we have an established member trying to get shot of some stuff (for very good reasons) & getting stick for it. Is this really on? P.
I agree. I've dealt with John; he's a nice guy and I don't think he deserves this sort of sniping.
16. Keep your eyes open on eBay. There are a few floating about.
