1. Better looking than most Fender basses, IMO, but I bet it tended to neck-dive.
2. I guess moving the bridge might be the way to go?
3.
Status Hotwire flats 40s - 100s on my Ray (though it is a fretless). Plenty of zing and low - medium tension.
No Ray here, but I do like Status Hotwire flats.
4. Heavy metal is bad for you, folks. Proof right there...
5. No sillier than a flying V.

7. I remember seeing it on eBay and managing to restrain myself from buying it - but not from giggling a lot when I first saw it. Sadly, I still have no funds. Hey ho. Good luck with the sale
8. Nice one
9.
Dont know why these are so hard to sell? it took me ages to sell mine and they are pretty good basses
I don't like the headstock design on G+Ls... maybe I'm not the only one?
10. Pics please
11. Good for you I have two cajon kits sitting about somewhere...
12. What's the scale?
13.
Anyone seen this? http://femurdesign.com/theremin/
Superb! Thanks
14. Thanks guys. I'm not affording anything at the moment, though... Merry Xmas
15. I don't know anything about these. It's in Spain. Not expensive for a US-made Peavey. If anything, suspiciously cheap. I can't read Spanish, so I stuck the description through an autotranslator, and saw nothing to ring serious warning bells. (It said something like "the pots need cleaning, the strings need replacing, and the case is battered but functional".) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peavey-TL5-USA-Pre-Cirrus-Original-with-case-/271716859738?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_186&hash=item3f43963f5a
16. My understanding is that the lute is descended from the oud, yes. The name certainly is. But I'm not honestly sure it's always possible to pin down antique-style instruments to specific categories anyway... so for me, this is a member of the oud/lute family (based on body shape, neck without integral frets, the steeply raked pegbox, etc.) and that's as far as I think I can go.
17. James bought a scratchplate off me. All went well, with good comms. Thanks!
18.
Bump - £250. Getting seriously cheap for a near mint Godin with gig bag
It would probably help if you edited the thread title
19.
Is it a [s]Balalika[/s] [s]Balaclava[/s] [s]Ballystringything[/s] Balalaika, I know it's a wooden instrument thing!
Nope, they are triangular-bodied. This seems to me to be a lute with only a single set of strings.
20. Do the black nylon strings work on a bass with magnetic pickups? If they do, the ebow should work with them. But it might be a bit muffled because the coating might damp the string core somewhat.
21.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the pics of this
This
22. Lovely! Sadly, it's way out of my reach, both in price and skill - I'd never do it justice Good luck with the sale
23.
Madness?
Not complete madness, he only got six of them. Still ludicrously overpriced though
24.
GayBay?
Indeed.
