1.
Playing shows is cool - low input high return stuff (except this one which is high input). I like doing them for the reading practice but couldn't do them all of the time like some do. But this is a challenge so I will enjoy it.
I know what you mean. I have done countless shows (on Cello not Bass) and there is a certain amount of pressure to perform well (It's called musicians union rates). The 'dots' vary enormously in difficulty, as indeed the quality of the copies, most originals are handwritten and then copied! Some of the stuff will be a breeze to sight read, I'm thinking 'The King and I' and others a bloody nightmare, thinking 'Parade'. After two band calls and a week of it though you've got the thing well and truly nailed and go to bed every night humming the catchier tunes (which is irritating when your'e knackered). I haven't done JCS, but love him or hate him ALW is a master in this genre! Good luck with it LC
2. As usual, the sight of a USA P in this particular colour/condition gives me trouser issues! It's a beaut and at a very fair price - good luck with the sale. LC
3. Ah yes of course.....LemonCello is more about my 'cello playing that an Italian digestivo!
4. Cheers Keiran, Amalfi Coast??? I'm from Cardiff via Essex......no-where near Barry Island! Gary
5. Hi Froggy, How old is the Amp and is the 15" the Celestion? Might just drive over the bridge and get this if as Leslie Crowther used to say "the price is right" Thanks, LC
6. Cranes have just had a lot of stock in which isn't represented on their website. Lot's of squiers, fenders, epi's etc and Hudson, their own brand. Gamlins have a good but limited stock - Cort, Fender, Squier etc. Cardiff guitars only carry second hand basses in the shop but are worth a look depending what you are after. They have inexpensive beginner stuff to vintage Fenders. Simon also knows what he's talking about and is a great guy to deal with. LC
7. Beautiful Bass. Great price too...good luck!
8. Lovely basses these. I owned a black one back in the early '80's that I bought in New Zealand. Sooo wish I'd kept it. Good luck with the sale! LC
9. John Entwhistle (Simply a legend) Neil Murray (Whitesnake - A bit 'dated' these days but listen closely to Neil's basslines and you will be pleasantly surprised) John Paul Jones (Another Bass legend, although JPJ wins first prize for worst hairdo in a public place for his appearance in The Song Remains the Same - utterly bouffant)!! LC
10. That's a knee trembler!
11. Thanks for all the info guys, really appreciate it. I did have the matchstick trick in mind tbh but interesting that they might be too soft! Cheers, LC
12. Bought some Shaller strap locks for my Squire P. The new screw is too skinny for the hole made by the old screw. Trying a fatter screw doesn't work as it won't fit through the hole in the strap lock? Any ideas peeps? Frustrated of Cardiff
13. Oh bugger....I'm liking this!
14. Hiya Waldo, This still for sale? LC
15. My first E Bay purchase (and last) was a couple of years ago now. I bought a Violin for £50 buy it now , advertised as 1 thing (google confirmed new price circa £200) but when delivered was something else (google confirming new price £50). The instrument just wasn't what was advertised. Invoked the dispute process and got my money back, but left him a few choice words in the feedback section. This is a much better, friendlier place to buy, trade your gear! LC
16. +1 to the above. What he can't do on the Bass isn't worth talking about.
17. Stunning! I've been looking at a re-finished '76 Jazz (without the original neck plate) and maple neck. £1500 is a very fair price for an original '70's Jazz in this condition. I'll be winning the lottery on Wednesday and I'll get back to you then! Good luck, great Bass.
18. Hiya, Does it have castors? Lc
19. Dave is a good guy, very reliable. Loving the P Bass I bought off you recently, got some Hybrid Slinkys on it now and it sounds the nuts! LC
20. Ha, Spent last evening working it out and now got it note perfect! Off to rehearsal tonite with it..... LC
21. Is the Bass still on hold Max? LC
22. I bought a lovely SB600 in New Zealand in about '82-'83, a black one. Kept it for a couple of years and swapped it for a hard 'Cello case. What a knob! LC
23. Just seen one of these on Soundslive and liking it I am! Slightly intrigued about the thick neck and how that would feel. It also has uprated PUPs. Anyone tried one/got one? LC
