I felt much the same around a year ago, the band I was in came to a head, and I haven't touched a bass since, nor had the urge to. I'm saving for an electric guitar instead as I'd flogged all my thin stringed things, and I'm going to get in another band as a guitarist. So, maybe you need another instrument to revive your interest in music?

I actually preferred the tone of my old wood necked Series 1 to my graphite necked S2, however, so I'd agree its very subjective! The graphite was a far nicer playing surface and felt great, though.
And I would opt for a fun musician over a bunch of dull musicians.
And me. Much as I can appriciate the beauty of mastery of the works of JS Bach, most days I would rather listen to the Vandals.

The sale for this fell through so its back up for sale. Neck and body are seperate at the mo, and as getting a bass to the post office is an issue for me I'm breaking it for parts so to speak. Status neck with tuners for £250 + postage, Aaron Armstrong pup and the John East BTB01 preamp for £70 + postage. 'owzat? Update - Status neck now sold, the rest is still available.

The Squire 70s telecaster with P90s I bought for around £160 new last year was the best sounding guitar I've owned. Build quality was far better than the Mexican Fender's I've had too. The only things that let it down were the components - nut, pots, tuners and bridge were all a bit naff.

Belcanto Golds cost me a good £130 for 4 too I doubt they would work well on a bass, far lighter guage for a start not to mention the scale length is probably different.
I've never seen House, but my Mum reckons I'm just like him. Is that good or bad?
Rest assured, Gregory House is brilliant.

Stainless frets really didn't work for me, tone wise. They can "sprout" out of the fingerboard too. Even though I can develop a weeping rash in hours if I'm wearing a nickle belt, playing with coated strings on nickle frets minimised contact enough to enable me to play for 10 hours a week or so without issue.

RATM were the most exciting band ever when I started getting interested in music... In fact, I think I might have to stick their debut on this afternoon to while away some time.
Don't be daft, Mark King using high-slung headless basses is about as cool as it gets. Mind you, he also looks as cool as owt with his headed basses. I noticed this year though that he looked like a dwarf when he was playing the Kingbass MK II! I'm not just sure if thats because I first saw him using a headless Kingbass though!
If you say so

I carried a Warwick on my back once while riding a GS125 to a mates house years ago. Nearly took off!

I've got a motorbike. I can fit a bass, a trout and a perch in my backpack.

Have you considered not wearing a dress?
You'll be lucky...they all seem to think we're a bunch of dicks across there especially Argghh, who should perhaps change his change his user name to 'Vitriol'
That's not true at all. I think you'll find its more a case that people can express their opinions in the open without flame wars happening. Or getting banned. Or moderated. It's certainly not a "them" and "us" thing, though, because a great many members on there are members here too, myself included. So it would be more accurate to say: "a lot of members of finnbass and basschat think there are a lot of dicks on basschat" Of course, that's like any big forum though. The vast majority of users are diamonds, but there are always a couple, and generally some people like 'em, and some people hate 'em.
Harmless monkey business IMO.
Ah ha! But that's where it all gets more complicated. Because in actual fact, the monk was a rapist but we didn't know. Ah, the mysteries of life! -
If you don't judge someone by their actions what do you judge them by... their intentions?
Something like that. Obviously its not as black and white as my statement, but for the sake of a poor analogy lets imagine a general good egg, lets say a monk, who has never hurt a soul in his entire life, has given all his belongings to the needy, helped the infirm etc etc etc yadda yadda yadda, gives into temptation one day and gets drunk, steals a traffic cone, wears it on his head, then steals an old womans mobility wheelchair and does donuts in the monestary car park. Is he a good person or scum? -
What would it matter if he did? You can't judge a persons worth based on their actions, or can you?
That entirely depends on how fluffy the kittens are. -
Ermmm...how else are you supposed to judge someone?...that's like saying that Pol Pot shouldn't be judged too harshly just because he killed so many Cambodians....seems to an awful lot of psuedo philosophers here with very little grounding in reality...wish i was as cuddly and nice as all you nice guys.
What I'm saying is people make mistakes. I've made tons of mistakes in my life, and anyone who says that they haven't is either a liar or a saint. And to be fair, stealing a bass isn't exactly comparable to genocide, is it? -

I guess I just don't revel in the hatred of other human beings that I've never met as much as some people! For all I know this guy might run a kitten sanctuary. -
As Peter so aptly put it in another thread, you can't judge a persons worth based on their actions. To be honest I find your inability to consider forgiveness under any circumstances disturbing. As for my feelings towards the guy - I don't have any. Why? I've never met him, don't know him, or anything about him besides what I've read on the internet. I won't be buying any basses off him, but I'm in no position to judge.
I should add this bit is best read in Darth Vaders voice. -
Its people with attitudes like yours that let murders and paedophiles roam free on our streets after a so called 'life' sentance. Attempting to steal that amount of money is not acceptable or forgiveable under any circumstance and yes, of course by me voicing my opinion loudly i am 'hiding something'. Get a grip and wake up to reality guys, people like this are scum, they have the mentality of a thief, have no respect for fellow man, and will not change. And for people saying he will pay back the delivery charge? you must be joking, and i hope him failing to pay the shipping charge will open the eyes of some people on here. However of course if he does turn up with the £200 or so, then il happily withdraw that comment, but it will not change the undying fact that he is a thief.
As Peter so aptly put it in another thread, you can't judge a persons worth based on their actions.
