1. Nothing major, just silly mistakes. I played at one of my regular haunts with the trio variant of my main band. Turned up, setup, soundchecked - no issues. The landlord always complains that it's too loud anyway, even if the PA isn't turned on! Whilst we were doing the first set, my right ear seemed a little bit lonely, everything could still be heard, but something just didn't seem right with the mix. It was only when we put some music on in the break that I'd realised I had nothing coming out of the right speaker. Thought it was the ipod lead so swapped it, still not right... it only turns out that when I'd turned the desk around to plug in the singers in ears, I'd disturbed the connection from the right master to the power amp Plugged back in - problem solved, sounded much better for the second set! Then to add insult to injury, between the second and third set, landlord was complaining that I'd blatantly turned the PA up, and I was adamant that I hadn't... forgetting that adding the other speaker can make a difference!
2. Yep, my iPhone can be a bit dimwitted towards certain fingers of mine... The fingerprint scanner ain't struck either!
3. Cheers bud, it's absolutely spot on. I much prefer it to the Wal it replaced, which says a lot. I never thought I'd let that bass go. The only bass I love more is my friends pre EB '76 Stingray. Looks like it's been hit like a bus, but the way it feels and sounds is spot on - like an old pair of slippers! Sadly they never did it as a 5 It's still on the future shopping list though!
4.
Is that the one that was in the FS section here? It is quite possibly the best looking Streamer I've ever seen, absolutely stunning!
It sure is Used to belong to Kev. Absolutely amazing bass, and it no longer bothers my shoulder All it needs is a Hipshot on the E (apparently it's a tricky fit so I'll have to do some tweaks!), and it'll be the perfect bass It turns heads everywhere I take it... very much like the Wal it replaced!
5. Free to a good home, it powers up fine and works with the DDT left on. Last time I used it, it was over heating when it shouldn't have been and one channel was lower level than the other. Switched the DDT off and that's when fireworks inside it started going off. So no idea what's up with it. It's a heavy sod so I can't post it, but if you want to come and collect from Rochdale, feel free
6. Mine was good fun, but it just seemed to drag. Typical WMC gig where there's bingo before and between every bloody set (we did 3 half hours). But, the band sounded tight as a nut (sad really as it's one of my last gigs with them, if not THE last gig), the place absolutely loved it, we played Auld Lang Syne bang on time after having the room count down with us, and it paid well... And I was home before 3!
7. Landed my hands on this beauty in trade for the G&L. 2006 Ltd Edition Stingray. Just needs a polish, new set of strings and a setup
8. Theremin? Nah, haven't touched one for ages.
9. Most likely, I just can't be bothered with the constant replacing of one. As they say, do it properly first time... I've seen the locking Neutrik done once before, the bass'll have to have some routing done around the socket to make it fit, but I'm speaking to Brian tomorrow to discuss it as there's really not a lot of space for one.
10. Yep, common problem! Especially if the amp you're running them with isn't powerful enough. I've seen them run with Dynacord Powermate 600s before, doing gigs where I daren't take anything less than 1000 watts, and they've not sounded too great! I went out with one of the function bands I work with a couple of weeks ago, corporate event so needed all the guts I could get into the car. Took a 1200 watt powered Soundcraft desk and HK Actor sub too. Everything sounded crystal clear, and we were really loud too!
11. I'm still a fan of Dunlops. If poorly maintained (same goes for Schallers), then they'll fail. A little dab of oil every now and again keeps the bits that have to move moving correctly. When I moved the Wal on, it had a 14 year old set of Dunlops on, and they've never failed. The Streamer Stage 1 that I picked up from Kev came with Warwick's own Dunlop style, which he's never used as he's already said, he doesn't trust them. To be honest, given the weight of the bass, I was more worried about the strap button itself failing. Sent it in to have recessed Dunlops fitted, so the bass can take some more of it's own weight, and I was amazed by just how weedy the screw holding the button on was
12. Volvo V70 estate. Boringly reliable and stupidly big.
13. I've had enough of them going, so I'm sending my main one into Brian Eastwood to have a Neutrik locking jack socket fitted to it, as it'll be getting used 6 nights a week for 3 - 4 hours a night. I think a barrel would give out in no time
14.
Yes - I was being ironic... both nice basses and re. the post topic, I think the USA made Spectors suffer from the same eye-watering pricing as the German made Warwicks. I bought second hand and got a nice late 80s Streamer standard from WarwickHunt for about £900. For the record, 'standard' in those days meant:

German-made
Neck-through
EMG P-J
2-band

Oops, I'm normally quick to latch onto irony. My apologies! The earlier ones are fantastic having played a couple. Of what I own, the earliest is a '93 Corvette Proline from when they were made in Germany. £350 off eBay, and it sounds great. And again, good spec. Nice maple neck, German made, 2 band EQ with push / pull active... my '99 fretless Corvette Standard, as lovely as it is, wasn't even active!

Now gone

No thanks, had a 6 before and got another two 5s already
16. I've got a pair of Hartke 112s and love them. Dual impedance, 300 watts a piece, 14kg and definitely not short of volume or bottom end. I get no quibbles when using the octaver or going down to bottom As. You can pick them up new for around £700 the pair, much less second hand.
17. I've got a couple
18. Nothing new really, but gave the SSI a fretpolish, oiled the 'board and gave the body a quick clean / polish. Looks good! 19. I remember last year's mad Friday gig - hell! But, naturally we charged more and got it. But it was a pain in the arse. Oh, and the favourite, as you're packing up and going out, the drunk punter just arriving "Oh, are you done? Will you do us one more" ... yeah, if you sober up, pull my gear out of the car, set it up again and pay me a lot of money, I MAY consider it. I'm on holiday this year, and I have no regrets
20. I started it 8 or so years ago as in high school, no band wanted anyone who plays keyboards, and guitar was just a bit too common for my liking. My dad's a guitarist and bassist, and my brother played too, so I ended up having a go on bass. Locked myself in my bedroom with a Hohner B2a which was initially bought for my brother after my old man had shown me the basics, and that was it really. No one heard anything from me, although it had slipped to someone at school who played bass too that I'd taken it up, and out of the blue he came up to me and said "I don't care how good your dad is, you'll never be as good as me". He was a dick, that was my aim... it took me two months My dad was playing lead guitar in a band, and I was still in my bedroom dabbling away, and news came through that the bassist was out of action due to severe medical issues, and the general conversation on the phone was "Well, David plays a bit, but he's kept to himself so I've no idea where he's at" At that point, he got me up to speed with the set, passed me his prized Wal and that was my first gigging bass I ended up sticking with that band for a while, eventually needed a 5er, so he got the Wal back (for a time) and I ended up with a Peavey Grind 5, and eventually the fretless Corvette. Naturally, I thought I was pretty good, but nothing special. After another couple of years, we decided it was time I should start having lessons. This was after joining another originals band and getting out there and gigging, but that probably only lasted a year or so before I got fed up of it. Took a gap year after college, my A level grades (including music) weren't what you'd call great, but I was sure I wanted to play bass at uni, seeing as college wouldn't let me play bass for my main study (yeah, thanks for that Holy Cross!). Explained the situation to my teacher, and he agreed to get me to the point where I'd get into uni based on my audition... and credit to him, he did! Through uni, I started gigging more and more, and I made sure I went down the performance route, and in all the performance modules I was coming out with high 2:1s and eventually firsts (the degree I finished with a decent 2:1, despite getting a low E at A level!). I get to play with various musicians all over the country and get called back for more work too, and in the New Year, I'm off to the Emirates gigging out there. I think the bumpy road was an alright option! Oh yeah! And the bassist from high school bumped into me at one of the gigs I was doing recently and came out with "F*** me man, you're absolutely amazing!!"
21. EV are cracking, I use a pair of EV SX100+ and although they're 200 watts a side, that's probably 200 watts of continuous square wave With the system controller (xp200a I think it is), I've had over 500 watts a side across mine along with a pair of HK Actor subs numerous times, without any issue or the speaker showing any signs of failure. It makes for a cracking, compact "small" PA
