1. I've got reasonably small holdall (well, my dad HAD it... he doesn't know yet). In it I just keep all my ancillaries such as extension leads, spare speaker leads, box of batteries, iPad clamp, clip on fan, strings etc etc.
2. It just doesn't fail to impress! All I've heard from fellow musicians is about how good it sounds too, in comparison to the G&L (and that isn't a bad sounding bass!) I've got some little bits of work planned for it, but for now it's spot on! Work it's having done is a new jack socket, as unsurprisingly, barrel jacks don't last. I'll probably get it routed out and have a locking jack fitted, and I need to sort the scratchy volume pot when I get round to it... it works though!
3. Update from Mr Wilfer himself, the bass dates to November (so either I can't count correctly, or there's a flaw in the letter being the month number ), and the bass is solid flamed Maple with a satin oil Ocean Blue finish. Took it to a jam night tonight, and it sounds incredible. With a slight bias towards the bridge, with a slight bass lift, it really punches in the low end, yet it'll really sing in the top end, very fretlessy if played with a smidge of vibrato - lovely!
4. Worth a listen guys, really good live band!
5. Well, as I've gone crawling back to Warwick for my main workhorse, I may as well update here! '96 Streamer Bolt On (pre LX), previously owned by Sambucadan on here. 6. As much as I love the G&L, I've been finding it's just not me, and naturally, I've gone crawling back towards Warwick. After much picking and choosing / weighing up the pros and cons between Streamers, Thumbs, Corvettes and Infinitys, I managed to land myself a cracking deal with this beaut. It's a 1996 Streamer Bolt On (Pre LX) in Ocean Blue, with gold hardware. Had to go down to High Wycombe for it, but, well I think it was worth the trip! It needs a little bit of work, but it's an 18 year old bass so that doesn't worry me. New volume pot and jack socket are the first thing, it's just been restrung too, then it'll be getting a Hipshot and some of the marks touching in, and then a good polish. We had a quick look with some polish yesterday and it's a very glossy finish. Even better! Looking at the body, I think it's solid A flamed Maple, though I've e-mail Warwick with pics and a serial number for them to confirm. Either way, for £600, I'm a very happy chappy!
7. Ouch! That looks erm, interesting! However, looking at the twist and the location of it, it looks repairable by a GOOD luthier, IE, someone like Brian Eastwood (noted for things like the Bender Collision bass). I popped into Steve Curtis in Manchester too, and he's got a Streamer Stage in at the moment with a reversed bow in the neck, which he's in the process of straightening - I've seen him bring back some things which I'd say were well and truly gone! With the right guy, that could potentially be one of the cheapest acquired Infinitys yet!
8. Another Aguilar TH500 user here, and again, get a great slap sound out of it
9. Pictures as promised. 10. If you're looking at this, you probably know what these are. Introduced around 2006 / 2007, these were Ashdown's attempt at hitting the Class D market. The amp is 500 watts at 4 ohms (two 4 ohm outputs - CANNOT BE BRIDGED), and it's very light. It features programmable EQ and compression, and there are numerous channels and presets which you can use, or set your own presets. I bought it as a backup to my Hartke, but then I moved to the Aguilar and have an MXR pedal, which I can DI out of if I ever need to, so the poor thing's just sat gathering dust, and as I'm saving for a new bass, I need to get rid of what I can. Condition wise, I've been using it out of it's casing with some rubber feet, and it's in near perfect condition, with some scratches on the side, but I've retained the external case which is a bit battered, but still perfectly functional. £120 plus postage (collection from Rochdale welcome) takes it.
11. Another vote for Hercules, I think mine was about £50 for a double, but well worth it!

13. Yeah that's a common way to do it. Depending on which PA I'm using for a gig, I don't always need a crossover. If I'm using the smaller rig with a little desk and 1000watt rack amp, I'll use the EV system controller, which is basically EV's own crossover. The inputs are simple left and right from the desk, and then there's a left and right output for the tops, and then 2 mono outputs for the sub (so if going active you can send to a pair, or to different power amps if ising passive subs). The big desk (soundcraft powerstation 1200) has a dedicated sub out with a sub filter, with that I just feed the tops with the desk and then use the sub out to a single sub. The best thing to do is check the instructions. They'll tell you whether your desk has a send for a sub or a sub mix.
14. I've had this for a good few months now, and it's been a joy to own and play, but I ended up with Warwick lust again, and snapped up one I've always dreamed of, so sadly, I've not got the space (or money) to keep two, so I've got to let the G&L go. So the bass itself. It's a 1997 model CLF serial code, USA model in Blueburst, with chrome hardware. Sadly the previous owner lost the cert of authenticity, so date wise I'll be taking his word for it, but he's a trustworthy guy who knows his gear well! It's a solid Alder body, with a hard rock maple neck and fretboard. Passively, it sounds absolutely great, but given the amount of switch and knob configurations, there're so many sounds available from the preamp and pickups. The pups are all standard issue G&L Humbuckers, with their trick electrical circuit. The 3 knobs are volume, treble (cut) and bass (cut), and in passive I believe one of them becomes tone... The switches are pickup select (3 way), series / parallel (2 way) and then passive / active / active treble boost (3 way). The only real blemishes with it, which don't bother me given the age of it, are there are a couple of chips on a bottom left edge (covered by forearm when playing), but they're just before the burst, so should touch in without too much issue, and there's some buckle rash on the back. Other than that, the action is great (for my taste anyway), the neck is nice and fast, and also arrow straight. I'm after £800 for this beauty, and I'll really miss it, but I've got more outgoings than in at the moment too, so it needs to go. I'm based in Rochdale, Lancashire, but I'd be willing to meet someone with it within reasonable distance, or if you PM, we can discuss courier, but ideally, I'd prefer collection! It also comes with it's original hard case, which admittedly has seen better days, but still works! NOW £800
15. When was Rather Be by Clean Bandit / Jess Glynne? I've not heard many bands do that yet, but it's been on the radio a lot recently.
16. I'm pretty sure I play more 5 than 4 nowadays! They're just so practical when it comes to funny keys I've got GAS for a Warwick Thumb or Infinity though, so if anyone wants a 5 string US G&L... I best behave there, I've not actually got it in a for sale thread!
17. And it's gone Mods please lock.
18. For band work I prefer 15s. I've got a pair of HK Actors which are 15". I've only been using one with a 1500 watt vocal PA, and it just takes a bit of pressure off the tops (EV SXs) and adds a lot more depth. You do need a good system controller / crossover though. Otherwise you're just giving a sub a full range signal, and they tend not to like that...
19. Bump! Dimensions externally are 54.5cm wide, 42cm in depth and 19cm deep. For internal dimensions, take just over 1cm off each of them and there you have it Make me an offer people, I bust my car recently and have to pay to fix it's broken nose
