2. Testing the water a bit, looking to move on my 2013 Warwick Custom Shop Streamer Stage 1 5 string, in Nirvana Black oil finish. This is one of the new improved Warwicks, now they've pulled their fingers out again, and one of the first of the new range (serial number dates it to 14th Feb 2013). Produced in their custom shop, it features AAA Flamed Maple wings, with a 4 piece Wenge Thru-neck, Wenge fretboard, and Warwick's signature bell brass frets with invisible fret technology. It also has the broad neck option from the custom shop, giving it the spacing of a 4 stringer. I've got small hands and have no issues getting around this, it's one of the most natural feeling 5s I've ever played! Electronics wise, it's got a 3 band MEC preamp, with a pair of MEC Humbucker Soapbars. Very clean, open and hi fi sounding, and there isn't a sound it won't do! It also has a pull pot on the volume which bypasses the preamp, though the pickups are actually active, so it's never truly passive! The hardware is gold, with the Warwick 3D bridge which is cut out of a solid piece of brass, as well as the brass 'Just a Nut 3' The strap locks are recessed Dunlop locks, which will be included as part of the sale. I also have the Warwick owner's pack with warranty card, manual, unopened cleaning cloth etc, and a genuine Warwick aluminium / ply flight case. It weighs a bit but it's the ultimate protection. The bass isn't particularly light either, around the 5kg mark, but balances beautifully. No neck or arse dive. Only reason for sale is I've got a hankering for an Infinity or a possibly a Dingwall. Cash is king, but try me for trades. Conditions of trade - it MUST be high end, it MUST have 5 strings, or if you've a 5 string Infinity NT, that'd be swell! Based in Rochdale, it'd be quite heavy to post so ideally I'd prefer collection, though I hike up and down the country a hell of a lot for gigs etc, so meeting is an option. £2500 ONO This is also the exact bass played as by Andy Irvine in Warwick's official demo video, and previously owned by BC's very own Kev https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U12vvP1rkys More photos are available on request.
3. Selling our Peterson P150 (again) as it's now surplus to requirements having downsized the portable amp to a PJB and I'd rather this went to a good home. We've had it probably around 15 years now I reckon, and it's never missed a beat in the time I've had it. It's done theatre shows, folk gigs, the occasional bit of rock and functions too. It's always sounded great. It's got the 12" EV driver which these amps are noted for, and it's also had a recent service too to make sure everything's top notch. Condition wise, for it's age it's great. It has a complete set of corners and the casing, whilst it has various age related marks, is solid and in relatively good condition. I'm based in Rochdale, Manchester and looking for a £350 cash sale only I'm afraid. I'll upload pictures later.
4. I couldn't possibly comment Muzz I've managed to find a decent enough piano score where the bass part is identical. Played it through, no issues there and it's a bit of reading practise - all good
5. Mods feel free to move around as appropriate. Does anyone have, or know where I can get a bass transcription for Michael Bolton's When A Man Loves A Woman? I've laid hands on a piano reduction but it's not great!
6. I'm selling a 2006 Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray, Limited Edition model. Ash body with a nicely figured maple neck and rosewood fretboard. Black with matching headstock, which has a couple of slight chips in it. Otherwise, it's pretty much immaculate as it used to be owned by a collector, and I've only gigged it two or three times as well. It's got gold hardware, and also the 3 band EQ rather than the usual 2 band. Comes with original hard case with limited edition badge, also included is a white pearloid pick guard. Also includes Schaller (or schaller copy - not sure) strap locks. Only selling as took it in trade for my last bass, but it's spent the last 4 or so months in it's case under my bed, surplus to requirements. £1000 based in Rochdale, can look into postage, but collection preferred. I also drive up and down the country quite often, so meeting part way could be a possibility too. I'm going to add too, I'm looking for a straight sale only. The only trade I would possibly consider is an NT Thumb 4, but cash is king in this instance! 7. Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday - so bloody busy I've purposely scratched good Friday out as it'll be my birthday family meal (and my drummer and singer are both out on separate gigs anyway!), and I've nothing in for Easter Monday yet.
8. I'm playing at The Fleece in Horbury near Wakefield with The Undecided this weekend. Never been before, looking online it looks alright, recently refurbished. Sports oriented so probably quite a lively crowd too. Also can't gauge the size or shape of the place, so working out what PA I'm taking is a bit of a pain! Could be interesting! http://www.fleecehorbury.co.uk/gallery-8215.html
9. Just got in (popped to a jam night afterwards), and it was absolutely spot on! Sounded fantastic, everything was very tasteful and no OTT playing, and Judith is a great laugh too! We waited around a little bit at the end and ended up having a good chat with Lee, in good spirits as ever talking about gigs, bass, music etc etc!
10. I'm going to see this gig at The Met in Bury on Thursday - looking forwards to it!
11. Reluctantly I'm selling this Warwick Streamer Bolt On 5 stringer (predecessor to the LX range). Only reason for sale is I recently had to buy a new car, and as this was bought as a backup, it's not getting enough use and is first in the firing line to recover some funds Recently setup with a new set of coated Elixirs, and given a deep clean and wax. The body is a lightly flamed Maple, finished in Ocean Blue oiled finish. The neck and fretboard are Wenge, and the hardware is Gold. 2 band MEC active EQ with MEC pickups, recessed straplocks (strap attachments included). It's one of the earlier handcrafted models, so has a lovely shape to it, it's not too heavy and balances fantastically. Given its age, there are one or two marks on it, I've photographed the two most superficial ones, there's one by the neck pickup where it looks like someone's nail has previously gone through it over time of anchoring on there, it's been used (and looked after) for a good 12 years before I got it, and then there's a mark on the back which I've tried to photograph. The hardware is also starting to pit and fade, but it still works absolutely spot on! The neck is smooth and fast, and there are no sharp fret ends, and there is plenty of life left in them. No case, collection preferred but I can post if required. £700 based in Rochdale, Lancashire - also willing to meet up within reason. 12. I'd be willing to courier it, it's how it got to us so can't be that bad.
13. Aye it's cracking, but just surplus to requirements. I'm open to offers too!
14. Bump, still here after numerous time wasters.
15. I'm selling this on behalf of a good friend of mine who's not on BassChat, but I can vouch that it's come from a very loving home and plays like a dream, but is just surplus to requirement at the moment. The guitar in question is a Taylor T5 Custom Hybrid Guitar, with a Hawaiian Koa top. I'm not very good with guitars, so I'll cheat and link you to the website. The instrument itself is in immaculate condition, and has the original hard case too. The singer in my main gigging band plays the Standard version of one of these, and I can't describe just how good it sounds plugged directly into the desk, so I imagine this will be even nicer! £1995 based in Manchester. Feel free to get in touch with any questions. 16. Definitely use your ears, also experiment with where you anchor if you're playing with fingers, naturally it helps if the sound you're aiming for is appropriate to the genre of music. My default position is more towards the bridge, and what I do is I set the blend on the pickups to bias slightly towards the bridge pickup. My action is fairly low, not so low that it's clattery though, but it works well with playing lighter, I also make sure that with my fretting hand, I'm fairly light with my fingers there, and I try and actually land on the fret itself, not somewhere in between.
17. I find Mustang Sally really hard... not to get bored and slap it that is Hysteria and Rhythm Stick I've always found pretty easy, the trick with Rhythm stick is as light as possible, makes it easier to go much, much faster! The hardest I've ever had to play is probably Lopsy Lu, Stanley Clarke. It's a case of not getting messy when playing it though, not touched it for a while!
18. That sounds bizarre. I use a pair with a ToneHammer 500, and one thing it sure ain't short of is volume! It sounds like one thing you could've done is lost certain frequencies that cut when you played with the EQ, it does happen. How're you connecting the cabs to the amp?
19. Oooh go on then, lots of bands to have a look at and get liking! www.facebook.com/theundecidedofficial There's what I'd consider to be one of my main bands for the last nearly a year, I joined as a dep in April, and whilst Ben still gigs with them, I find myself picking up a lot of work too, it's more of a collective than a band with two lineups, depending on what style of music's wanted. I'm also going to be cheeky and put my personal page on, not much activity since the beginning of the month, as I've not really had any playing work the last few weeks. www.facebook.com/davebbass
20. Just been and tested it, as it was a friend who told me. Mine definitely fits, and zips. There's not much room for anything else, but it does it... unless the pocket in the M80 double is bigger than the standard M80, but I don't think it is!
21. I've turned up to gigs in the past and opened cases, shortly followed by "Uh, that's not my 5..." - Always makes for a fun time re-evaluating what you're playing that gig, especially when the 4 often didn't have frets on it either
