1. Not sure if it's what you're after, but Mo Foster's "Seventeen Watts?" is a good read about his early days and bands he played with...
2.
The worst thing is the large number of w@nkers you get to meet. Having said that, I was thinking the other day of how I've met nearly all my friends though music in one way or another.
+1
3. Great fella, very easy transaction and super fast delivery. Bassninja
4. Many fabulous bluegrass/flatpicking g**tar players do lots of stuff in G, moving the capo as necessary to retain the shapes and have access to open strings. Difficult to get the bass runs and ornaments if you're in, say, C#...
5. The Old Girl, my '73 Precision. Badass & EMGs, a real workhorse. Possibly the best £325 I've ever spent.
6. Nice one, Al. watch those royalties roll in...
7. OK. Band meeting... Albi the racist dragon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-jVAHAuiS4
8. I bought a Zoom B3 from Dave. Top fella, easy transaction, bargain
9. 1980s, Laney job (Linebacker? Can't remember...) It sounded as if it was sealed inside an invisible duvet. And me with a mullet and a short strap trying to 'slap that thang'. So cruel...
10. Just a maybe, but I shifted one of these on eBay a couple of years ago for £40 odd. Perhaps try there 1st, unless you're wanting to spread the love to another Basschat brother/sista? (In which case, I have just made myself look a mercenary b*****d like Lard Ulrich). Curse my damned honesty
11. Flippin' fast delivery, even in dicey weather. Good comms, straight up bloke. Happy with the flats exactly as described. Would def deal again
12.
Wow, that raised the bar for pointless, tuneless fret-wittery a few notches. Tho the Mingus/spacehopper combo is oddly fascinating...
Glad to see them wearing helmets, but no knee/elbow pads? Blue Peter will be very disappointed. Jimmy Haslip's whistling badger duet? I'm on it...
13. part 2... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=gHkBpjbzBuA
14. Now searching YouTube for Charles Mingus on a spacehopper. Standby...
15.
A lot of Behringer stuff has quality issues so I'd stay away from most of it. Having said that a lot of guys here love the sound of this, http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/BDI21.aspx
+1 There's quite a bit of sniffiness about Behringer, but on a £50 budget they're worth a look. Used on fleabay is a good option if you want to try stuff out. You'll find better build & audio quality elsewhere, but probably not at £50ish.
16.
Q. How many musicians does it take to change a lightbulb? A. Ten. One to change the bulb and nine to stand around and mutter, "I could have done it better than that".
We have a winner...
17. I'd guess the people who are motivated to turn up for the event are into Hooky's playing, so for them it may well be a 'Masterclass', but why stress over it? Personally, there's as much room for him on my iPod as Jimmy Haslip et al, and the bass world is probably a better place with him in it. The Beatles with Manu Katche or the Stones with Chad Wackerman, now that makes me feel queasy.
18. Welcome, from leafy Midhurst
19.
I've got the 2x10 version and it's the best combo I've had so far. Have a BUMP on me!
+1
