  1. ITEM NOW SOLD One Tech21 Para Driver v1 preamp/DI pedal. Recently scored a second v2 of this pedal, so offloading my original v1 backup. In good condition, no fancy Tech21 tin though I`m afraid. The Para Driver is imo one of Tech21s best pedals, due to its sweepable mids - choose between 170Hz & 3.3kHz and boost/cut to shape your sound. Other controls are Level/Treble/Bass/Drive/Blend. The Drive is great, can be set to a hint of "unclean" for a better word, natural tube sounding drive when you dig in, or full on distortion-filth. Set your sound, then when gigging take this with you, no matter what amp you use FOH gets your sound as you intended it. £140 gets this to your door within the UK. No trades thanks.
  2. Now Sold A rather nice US Standard Fender Precision from 2016 up for grabs. Weight is 4.05kg/8lbs9oz. Custom Shop Pickups, graphite strengthening rods to aid neck stability, Fender lightweight tuners, black Fender pickguard, all standard aside from the strap-locks - not locking ones, just different - and the bridge, which has graphite saddles to aid tuning stability. The bass has string-through option this after-market bridge doesn`t prevent that. Comes with Hiscox case with key, and case candy inc truss-rod adjuster and allen key for after-market bridge. A previous owner has had ashtray covers on it, and a non-Fender pickguard too, so there are some extra holes on this bass, only the ones for the ashtray over the bridge are visible, as shown in pic 3. Additionally as per the last pic there is a slight gap on the neck-pocket. Pictured with it is a 1mm plectrum which can`t fit in the gap, so it`s not like its mahoosive or anything. No trades thanks. For anyone wanting to try it out am in Hemel Hempstead (J8 on the M1).
  3. One Hiscox Standard EBS Case - fits Precision/Jazz etc In good condition, all clasps work, all feet are present, lining all intact, comes with a key. £75 gets this to your door within the UK - up to you to get it through your letterbox as am sure the courier won`t try that.
  4. For me if there are a few knocks it’s mojo, probably more likely to entice me to buy, but where it looks like it’s been tied to the back of the pickup truck and dragged around town that’s me bailing out. Both of my gigging basses have a few knocks, down to the wood. This was def a feature in me buying them.
  5. Nail/head. Those guitar-folk just can’t handle being Number Two. It also seems to really get their goats that no matter how much super gear they buy the singer strolls in carrying nothing (where the guitarist has all but moved house with the amount of gear they have) and all the attention is on said singer. The smart ones learn to sing lead vocals imo, to stop this bane of their lives.
  6. Looks a similar colour to Nate Mendel of Foo Fighters early 70s Precision, which is Candy Apple Red.
  7. In general I’d say so, we only seem to argue amongst ourselves in Off Topic
  8. I know exactly what you mean, for me a 410 is the bass cab, something about multiple speakers all going together that just makes a much nicer sound - irrespective of volume I should add.
  9. Not at all. Although I`ve found some treasures along the way - Vintage V4 Precision/Korean Squier Precision - and realised that in amplification I`m happier with less expensive (but much better sounding imo) Ashdown ABMs, with basses my preference is for the US Standard Fender Precision. Ok not super expensive, but for me the 2012-16 Series are the best I`ve ever played, much better than any Mexican/Japanese/other US that I`ve had. So I have 3 - one for home use and recording, the other 2 for gigging. I could easily gig with MIM Fenders or Squiers - indeed I have - but to me I want to play the best instrument for me, so I do.
  10. I do, but my one I use is V2 and the original backup is V1, I scored another V2 to keep OC/DC happy.
  11. I can’t remember the exact ratings but the ohmage of the Barefaced 410 and 210 are worked so that if paired each gets about the same amount of power per driver, so not pushing one cab too much. He’s a clever chap is Alex, makes his gear from a users point of view rather than a manufacturers.
  12. I lasted til Sun 20th, when I bought a backup Para Driver pedal. Ooooops.......
  13. The Barefaced are warm/vintage sounding, if looking for hi-fi sounds or crystal clear, sharp highs prob not the best cabs to get, but they really nail a more traditional bass sound, classic rock, Motown, ideal for those.
  14. The Markbass 610, if you can find one, is a good cab. Really light, doesn’t seem to have the top-end roll-off that some of their cabs do. Like Jack above I had the Barefaced 410 & 210 for a while. Ultimately they weren’t the right cabs for me but that’s not knocking them, in terms of portability difficult to beat and easy to use the 410 for rehearsals and regular gigs, drag out the 210 for the big stuff. Additionally the amount of sound that comes from them is immense, I just needed sharp top end and like their name suggests they are a warmer more vintage sound.
  15. You may be nearer the truth than my offering above 😁
  16. A 64lb 4x12, that would be tempting aside from the fact they’ll probably be a gazillion pounds.
  17. These ones are run quite well, Blue. If you “win” on the day you play the introducing stage, next year you play the main stage. Yes all the other bands are the named acts but it’s nice that lesser known bands get the opportunity to play the main stages. Those stages are massive and you get full sound check until you’re happy, rather than a 15min run through. Ok you’re on first on the main stage but we still must have had 1200/1300 people in for us, was quite chuffed with that.
  18. The themes to The Professionals and The New Avengers were written by Laurie Johnson. Both seemed to have good bass presence so i reckon he had to have tinkered on the bass at some point to have it that far up in the mix.
  19. I think if I had 3 grand hanging around that was fully disposable income that I could spend on a bass I’d buy a second hand 2012-15 US Fender Jazz, possibly a Rickenbacker and possibly a Gibson Thunderbird. I’m sure I’d have to search to get all three for three grand but I can’t think of any one bass that I’d want to spend a whole 3Gs on.
  20. Fully agree, those 3 are great theme tunes - just go duh duh-duh to anyone of a certain age and they know it’s The Professionals. Even seeing a Ford Capri makes me hum the theme tune with a daft smile on my face.
  21. Not used one but we played with a band whose bassist had a Taurus rig and it sounded great. Cabs were really lightweight as well.
  22. Yes, back off the treble and mids and it`s got a nice warmth and spongeyness to the sound. I`ve just bought a second one, was delivered today so was putting it through its paces and that was one of the sounds I ended up with, nice and Ampeg-like I thought.
  23. I can play one slap bass line and one only, This Is Not A Love Song by Public Image Ltd.
  24. Not heard these ones but my fave which I always recommend are the Fender Custom Shop 62s (not the regular Fender 62s). Amazing pickups.

    Geddy Lee pedal

Yep, a bit like rhythm guitar really, filling out the sound and making sure the backside of the song doesn’t fall out on lead guitar solos. Having trebly/driven sound really helps this.
