In my last band much of the time I’d be using shared or provided rigs going to FOH PA so all my eq/sound came from my Preamp/DI pedal, as such I carried a back up for that. In my current band, for our one and only ever gig that we intend to do I’ll take a backup amp as it will be a pub gig with vocals only PA.
That will be my approach Paul, at the moment I don’t need a 5 string bass, and won’t get one until I do, but should the need arise I’ll have to focus solely on it to get the best out of both it and me. I’m be sure at some point it will happen.
Well whilst I can order one online I’d really like to just be able to go to a music shop and tryout/buy a Squier Classic Vibe 60s Jazz Bass, so I might well show some restraint and do exactly that as my end of lockdown treat. Would just be nice to spend an hour or so in PMT Northampton whiling away the time looking at instruments & amps and trying a few out - though I’m pretty set on the CV60s.
Casey Jones burgers at Euston. Some Saturday afternoons me and my mate would get on the train to Euston after the lunchtime beers just to get a Casey Jones burger. Yum! 🍔
For me it’s wanting a different sound, only to realise once the initial buzz has worn off that I only like Precisions & Jazzes, P/J basses at a push tho preferably not active.
I know that feeling only too well. The thrill of a new bass gives a quick buzz, often followed by the realisation that you prefer the ones you already had.
Bass and guitar, though I’ll only ever describe myself as a bassist that can play guitar as although I’m fairly good on rhythm guitar I don’t really feel proficient enough on the instrument to ever call myself a guitarist.
