  4. (Another) New Spector Day! Arrived on Friday.... finally after a 9 month wait (partly due to Brexshit).... Spector Euro Classic 4 in solid red! Gorgeous colour and plays beautifully. Sound great through my Class D with headphones but haven't had a chance to play it at volume through a rig yet..

  7. His usual recording/gigging gear at that time was Kramer Spector NS2 -> Gallien Krueger 800RB driven hard -> McAuley 2x15 cab. Most of his tone was from digging in hard on the bass and driving the GK.
  8. Mine from Thomann has just arrived. Only played it through headphones so far.... but it sounds awesome! Love it.... particularly for a bit of grind with 'authority'
  9. An accomplished bassist friend & I blind a/b'd a Super Twin against my Genz Benz Neox 2x12 with identical bass & amp set up and we were both surprised to find that we both agreed that the Genz sounded better and punchier. Saved me a lot of money in what I thought might be a potential rig upgrade.
  10. I had an all maple Melody Grabber MANY years ago. Had a unique feel and sound..... wish I hadn't parted with it
  11. But maybe Amy Crackhouse might have been better? I'll get me coat....
  12. .... to a Spector
  13. Dingwall and Darkglass.... You too can sound just like every other metal bassist!
  14. My faves from the early days of tributes in the UK were: The Six Pastilles - Sex Pistols tribute The Small Fa(e)ces - Small Faces tribute who were often described as "a little bit *profanity filter*")
  15. They don't exist anymore but my two fave names from the early days of tributes were: The Six Pastilles - Sex Pistols tribute The Small Fa(e)ces - Small Faces tribute who were often described as "a little bit sh*t"
  16. I like both for different reasons.... but I'd take Tom Johnston-era Doobie Brothers (with their mix of country, r'n'b and southern rock) over both of them. Almost like a melding of the two....
  17. Update on pickup issue from a major distributor & respected Spector & Dingwall user/player in the States: https://forum.fretnation.com/post/dimensions-and-fishman-fluence-pickups-11725548
  18. You mean your name isn't Justin Lukin?!? Damn... 🤣
  19. KISS Steely Dan Doobie Brothers Styx Journey Lake Kayak Chicago Ambrosia Alan Parsons REO Speedwagon, Kate Bush (only happens once every decade!) Winger House Of Lords

  21. UK Thrash Metal band 'Lawnmower Deth' have always had entertaining alter egos... Qualcast "Koffee Perkulator" Mutilator (Pete Lee) – vocals Concorde Faceripper (Steve Nesfield) – guitar Schizo Rotary Sprintmaster (Gavin 'Paddy' O'Malley) – guitar Mightymo Destructimo (Chris Parkes) – bass Explodin' Dr Jaggers Flymo (Chris Flint) – drums and, not forgetting former guitarist: Baron Kev von Thresh Meister Silo Stench Chisel Marbels (Kevin Papworth)
  22. He's the drummer ....
  23. I've always thought the vegetable 'Curly Kale' would be a great stage name..... I can hear it now.... "Ladies and Gentlemen..... please put your hands together for.....on the bass guitar..... CURLY... KALE!!!! 😉😁😆
  24. Believe me, it is ALL live. I've been up close with them live and at fan meets and there is no trickery involved. They are all amazing singers......
