I used to have a Nightingale 'Harlequin' bass.....made by Bernie Goodfellow and Neil MacDonald in their workshop in Thornton Heath.... Lovely bass with superb action and a bold tone. Sold it to continue my Spector buying....

The Rex Brown has a very punchy, slightly scooped tone due to the EMG-Hz pickups and circuit. For a more genuine growl/grind with more mids I'd recommend updating the pickups with full EMG's....

A real picture of the 'actual' bass will follow at some point... EDIT Jan 2010: This bass has now been sold on purely because I need the money for a major bass purchase. Didn't want to sell but needs-be....

I have 37 basses & 7 electrics..... I don't consider it a problem.... and I love every one of them.
