1.
The OP asked: Have you had this problem, and what did you do about it? Can you train a drummer like you can train dogs, kids and spouses, i.e. by using a reward system? Or what? Actually re-reading this, the OP question is rather drummer-bashing, so it’s not surprising what has unfolded. Shame Davo
I've finally read all of Davo-London posts and as someone who is actually has worked pro on both drums and bass, I couldn't agree more. The drummer is the driving force of a band and drummer has the most physical part in the band. It's not easy, as bassist getting fed up being told that bass is 'easy', I thought you guys who know better... anyway rant over... I still think lessons is the key and anothet non-drummer telling him, might not go down well, unless you a mate
 2. Get lessons! A drummer who can't play in time is a singer without pitch.
 3. I play drums and bass and have professionally.. should we have a drum subgroup then, or a singer, saxsphone or other?? Keep it simple... Bass. If I want drums or other, I go there. I also like basschat for what it is, as most bassist unless they play professionally have the chance talk to other bassists. In a band you might get 2 guitarists or 2 singers or sax or horn players, singers.. but not bass
 4.
I'd second that, just learnt it having never heard of the band before my bass teacher suggested it and it's a really good fun line to play, especially the prechorus section.
NO doubt tunes are fun. I've learnt that for some functions. I learnt this for fun http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvuVFHTvdaY

 6.
I'm also interested in this - pretty sure a PJ is my ideal bass... but it does seem hard to find one I can afford!
The price of the bass is a crazy deal for the sound.. these era of basses are king
 7. based on what you've said.. have you considered this?? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/163069-1983-japanese-squier-precision-jv-serial-number/ It might tick all your boxes
 8. Nice i little comparison.. The only thing I would say is when using the Jazzes , P/J or warwick is that really you need to compare the use of the pups/EQ, as they will sound different at different setting. I can't remember the last time I've used my Jazz full on both PUP and I've never used my P/J Pups on full together.. I think this doing it this way is a good example of this, but doing it with four basses would take alooooong time.. mind you there is along of waffle.. p.s. start listening from 2:34 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6Cd98DH__U
 9. try and pick up some secondhand pickups, then if you don't like them, you easily sell them on for the same price
 10.
Hmmmmm… Not sure I can help with the direct question, but I'd of thought an A/B box with volume pots for the inputs would of been a better option. In fact, the old trust Boss LS-2 will work a treat - 2 Inputs to 1 output with a separate volume pot for each input so you can balance them to match pre gig.
This is the route I'd go.. I've used the LS 2 in the past and it excellent for this.. You could have had mine, but I sold it last year
 11.
I may be wrong on this, but I'm sure I've read several times on here that musical instruments like guitars are not covered by the insurance that you can purchase from couriers. You'll pay for the cover at the time of booking, but you'll come unstuck when you try to claim. Read the list of exclusions very carefully, and maybe contact the courier direct to ascertain exactly what is covered. Like most insurance companies, they'll try their hardest to not pay out.
I agree you have to check the fine print.. some do, some don't
 12.
As per the demo White P-bass is best for the whole track...then the Jazz. The SD P and the Warwick come nowhere. IMO.
+1 I think this will be amplified as time goes on.. i.e. in 10/20yrs time the P and the Jazz will keep sounding even better
 13.
If you can come over to SE1 I've got a padded gig bag you can have for free. It's never been used. It might offer a bit more protection.
Considered yourself PM'd and thank you
 14.
1. if it's under £500 or so why not. Over £500 it starts to get to the point where picking up a secondhand case to send it in makes sense. Stick £30 on the price and find something second hand. 2. easy way:ask a shop for the box that fender or whoever post their basses out in. hard way get box from bike shop. Wrap gig bag in cardboard, in a self constructed tight box. place that in big box with either bubble wrap or something to keep the inside box away from the edges of the outside box. 3.
I'm would definitely post it with insurance like I have when I posted a bass cab this year. I'm selling the bass for £380..
 15. Thanks this all sounds good, how much would this cost approx?
 16. I'm currently selling by bass and I'm usually of the mind that if I don't have a spare hardcase, I won't post it. So I ask two questions:

Am I right?
Or is there a safe way to post a bass without a hardcase or a cheapish way of doing it?
17. Hope you had a good christmas BC'ers All PM's replied, still available to those who can collect from Lee (nr blackheath/greenwich), central london or stations in london. Maybe able to meet to help with your travels with me doing a small bit of driving. BUMP
 18. I'm away till 2nd Jan.. so you can come and see it then, unless someone decides to buy it .. :-)
 19.
In all fairness,it's not actually £125000. It's £12,500. Still ridiculously expensive, I grant you, but all the same ...
I meant even at 12.5K..
 20. unbeliveable.. I can't imagine someone speading that money on bass for heaven's sake. Even if I could, I wouldn't and I love rickys.. Dreamworld
