1.
(that said mine is better loved and pristine)
As someone who is very particular about my gear, Dave is one of the few people I would lend my gear to, I know him well... Yes it's been it's been gigged lot (FT player), but very well looked after. I've seen it, heard it, and played through it many times and it's great and in a good condition. You do know the thing with a rip isn't the amp
 2. I'm waiting for the sold post in about 5mins.. Davey boy, I'm looking forward to hearing the new rig at our next gig mate..
 3.
It appears that the markbass tube 800 is lacking enough support on this forum, suggesting a blind purchase might be too risky. Maybe going that bit extra and opting for the Markbass TTE 500 is an option. Anybody got any reports on these?
I guess it's your call. If you want one amp then it might be nice compromise, but for the money , you could get either The LM2/3 secondhand and a tube preamp like a sansamp/ DVH (i think that's them) or a terror bass or streamliner.. I think main love is actually for the LM2/3 really or something else, not even the tube really.. After using the Terror, I don't think the MB Tube does enough.. I'd rather the LM with my sansamp to go further I'd say MB doesn't do tube... they do natural and warm very well
 4.
Thanks Adrian, the current condition is evidence that its previous owner took great care with it! Hope you are doing well and keeping the gigs rolling in! This is now sold, by the way!
I'm good mate, gigs aren't going too bad.. That was a quick sale...
 5. www.mikedolbear.com there's lots of drummers on there!
 6. This was my previously amp and I took it out of the MB 1x15 cab and it was very well cared for, it's a great amp... and also andyonbass is a trusted guy to buy off.. That's a very good price!! If I wasn't trying to buy another bass, I'd have it back

 8.
We are a metal band from Cambridgeshire. We are writing a new album and need a dedicated bassist who can bring their own style and creative mind to the band, someone who wants to have lots of input. We would like a motivated person with a professional attitude to write the next album with us and possible pre production late next year. We are not a covers band, we write and perform our own material. We have regular writing and rehearsal sessions along with gigs and maybe a mini tour. Own transport and equipment is essential along with a good sense of humour. If you are interested or would like to find out more details please get in touch and I will get back to you asap. Thanks Lisa
A bit of detail on the band might help you get some more interest.. website, soundcloud, myspace etc
 9.
I use heavy gauge 50 - 110s, and whenever I buy a bass, it is invariably strung with regular gauge, 45 - 105. I really notice the difference in the amount of bottom end that just isn`t there with the regular gauge. Some might say that it`s all in the mind, but when I took one of my Precisions to band practice, with regulars on, my bandmates all enquired why I`d changed my settings, and could I change them back, as the big bottom end wasn`t there with the new settings. Give it a go. If you don`t like them, sell them on here. I`ve done this a few times, just make it clear how long they were on the bass for, and price them fairly. You`ll lose a few quid, but not the whole lot.
+1 I went to the 50's it was good the 55's ain't bad either
 10.
A mate of mine uses a TC and we both agreed the little mark 11 has the edge over it. But it sounds like the streamliner might be a better buy over the tube 800. Whats the point of having a tube preamp unless unless it has the desired effect. The only other option in the same price range might be an Ampeg svt 7 pro thanks
I've never gotten on with the TC's I find them to fiddley.. I would like to try a TC head with MB cab or BF cab though just to see if I felt differently.. I have no love for the TC cabs
 11.
+1 to that. I inevitably find that the tones I really don`t like on their own work really well in the mix. I`ve only ever heard a Markbass amp at quiet volumes, and would probably hate it loud, but every time I`ve seen one being used with a band, the bass has sounded fantastic. They just seem to "fit".

I think that was the goal for the Markbass cabs, hence why some people aren't keen on try outs. They tend to sound good in the mix but a little odd on their own.
I think it's the best way round.. Most people 'think' they know how the amp/cab should 'sound', in reality you don't really know until you play at a gig or two.. Markbass is very good at fitting in.. They are marketed as the working musicians rig.. and that what it does and very well.. I think Mark tube is really if you like MB, but want a a 'little' bit of tube, if you want something different, try something else..
 12.
Have to agree here. If I've made a commitment, I follow it through. Even if it's a charity freebee. Currently in 4 bands (got out of Nos 5 & 6 recently) It works okay, have a Google diary that is shared between the bands. All the gigs go on it so at any point, anyone can see if a dep is needed and gets it sorted. Main band does about 20 a year, the others tot up about another 20 between them. Only went pear shaped once and ended up doing four in two days, but lucky as it was afternoon / evening on both days.
this does annoy me.. think people are missing the point.. If the gig has been given the respect of not just fobbing it off, rather finding a suitable dep (not any old player), I see no problem, but I would bet money this comment is made by someone who hasn't worked as a full-time musician and it not a case of just going to the best paid and sacking off the your regular work. All the people who work with me say that I give 150% and learn all the songs and I'm the same with deps I choose. But at the same time you have to take every opportunity.
 13.
Surely, if, as you say, the freedom of the market is sacrosanct then if I'm not happy with a price I can negotiate in public, not in private, or stand on a soapbox complaining about the prices. I don't see how you can have it both ways. It sounds like you want this freedom to be only on your terms.
+1
 14. A agree with chris b If a gig is more money and your playing keeps a roof over your head, you do the gig that pays the most. However, you don't leave the band high and dry and you provide a suitable dep, or come to an arrangement. I would never bail on a gig, but at the same time, I might change my plans if I got paid more. I do the same as I would allow to be done to myself
 15.
The freedom of the market is sacrosanct. Profiteering? Who are you to determine what is excessive? Comrade, this isn't some socialist enclave immune from the ebb and flow of the free market. I don't sell much stuff, but if I think I can turn a profit then I will. It's no-one's business but mine. Let's say I pick up something locally for silly money and sell it on here for a reasonable price. Am I wrong? No! I am enterprising. The item was sold for a fair market price, and the price I obtained it for is none of your business. I have no obligation to share my good fortune, I don't owe any of you a damn thing. This overinflated sense of entitlement really sticks in my craw. Goodwill? This is the same place which is the number one (in my experience) source of lowball offers whenever I sell things, so it cuts both ways. I am a capitalist pigdog, and I'm happy to be one. Not happy with a price? Negotiate in private or walk away. Don't stand on a soapbox with a megaphone outside someone's shop complaining about the prices.
Although this technically correct. I think some people forget the amount of money is saved on this site for advice and general 'goodwil' equates to much more than few extra quid on selling an item. I do believe what goes around, comes around.. I have no issue someone profiting from the the sales here, but I don't think it's the real reason BC was created.. People trade on here to full fill GAS and it's great. The ones that are reasonable with prices here are known quite Quicklinks and they can trade easily.. those that try to squeeze every penny in the long run don't, both ways I wish people would keep their prices up on the FS thread, as it helps when selling on and also helps novice buyers, but I don't blame you if you don't.. THF if I didn't know if a price was reasonable, I'd set up a thread asking what would be reasonable price..
 16.
I’m in several bands. There are occasional bands and they are at the end of any queue for my time. There are a couple of working bands and there is a pecking order. The band that works the most is the cover band which I can easily dep given enough notice. Everyone must know and accept that you might not be able to do every gig that they get. It helps if all the bands are organised and are booking several months in advance. I bought my 2012 diary in August. There are no prima donnas in my bands, which helps a lot. Gigs always come before rehearsals. First in diary gets it, unless a better paying gig comes in later. You should be able to dep out up to a couple of weeks before. I won’t move a gig within 2 weeks but be very nice to everyone because emergencies sometimes happen. Always be positive, happy and very sorry when you can’t do a gig. Know the numbers inside out and always sound better than the deps!
+1000000 do this and you'll be fine
 17.
Of the 3 bands i'm in, 2 of them have members who are also in other bands, do session work, dep, whatever, so I haven't hit any pressure to be monogamous. I run on a first come first served basis gig wise, no particular priority of one band over another, so far so good.
Yes
Just be straight with both bands, and keep lines of communication open. If you end up in two bands, each of whom averages - say - one gig a month, then it doesn't take too much date-juggling to avoid conflicts. If you end up in five bands, all of them actively gigging, then contact chris_b and ask him how the hell he manages.
Yes
I was in 9 at one time. First come first served, as it were. Noone complained.
Yes I think the big is issue is what you want out of it and what you can give.. I work freelance and have an originals band and the originals band knows I take paid work first in general.. however, I will not not screw them up last minute either, there is respect for both of our time.. You need to be $hit hot on your diary ( I use google and sync to my Phone), and usually both bands soon realises that it will work if people book things early and value each others time.. You'd only have a problem if both bands want to rehearse 4 days a week I was in an original band years back and the singer hated that I did freelance work as he felt I wasn't 'committed'.. but when we started writing and recording in the studio he soon realised that all the other gigs/sessions I did made me the on of the strongest members in the band, which helped everyone. Bottomline, is if you play more you can only get better... give it a go and see what happens
 18.
Ha, it's perfectly possible, and I don't even own it yet. I want the compact rig for convenience, and the 8*10-all-valve rig as a penis extension Slightly off topic, but how do these Barefaced compacts fare against the Orange compacts? There's a bass terror amp and compact cab for sale on this forum that is local to me, and I'm slightly leaning towards that route, however a good friend has both cabs and in his experience the Barefaced is the better of the two?
Depends on what you want.. The Terror Bass with BF are great. I've currently got the TB with sp210 which is great, but I met a another BC'er with a BF Midget and the TB and I want to change it for midget... looking at your Myspace, I don't think the orange will hit all the spots.. Head down the direction you're going.. get the compact and then maybe later the midget or another compact.. The guys at BF with give you good advice
 19.
I'm pretty chuffed with this offer! If the sale of my huge ashdown rig goes through as planned tonight, I should have the funds in my hand to order the barefaced compact tomorrow. My plan is to own, one practical rig for rehearsals and small gigs, which would be an Orange Bass Terror 500, on powering a Barefaced Compact, and one monster rig which would be an all valve head powering an Ampeg 8*10 classic for bigger gigs and when we travel in a van. Might even think about getting the Midget on top of the compact seeing as that's what people are recommending.
I think after you get the compact, then the midget.. that 8x10 will go
 20.
I think it's pretty rare that pre-amp tubes die; you'd probably get a lifetimes service out of it if you're lucky.
Very true
 21.
i plan to going from one markbass cab to two so I am considering moving up from the little mark11 to the little mark tube 800. Has anyone tried the 800? if so what are the opinions on these amp? are they a good upgrade from the little mark 11 many thanks
You could still use the LM2 with two MB cabs very nicely.. the Tube800 is nice, so I've heard
 22.
Just to add to the thread......A pair of Barefaced Midgets? They are fitted with superior drivers to every other cabinet mentioned in this thread and well priced for what they offer. Smaller, louder and lighter too. I don't own a pair, I just own one. (which I use on its own, or with my Compact.for bigger gigs) But I think a pair must be great option for someone looking for a lightweight solution. Frank.
+1 try these, if you don't like the after a month you can get your money back.. it's a win win senario Either 2 midgets which are ultra light or the super 12
