1.
I've decided to bin plan A, B, C and D and I'm going to sell my cabs and invest in a Barefaced Compact - possible two for the full on gigs!
Buy before chrimbo and you'l save £100.. check the website
 2. The super light option is a sansamp or similar if the PA and monitors are good
 3.
This -
4.
Great for someone who fancys one, they are great cabs. Not so great for someone that was thinking of having a change and getting some different cabs. Mines just been devalued! I don't think i will be the only one that isn't amazingly impressed.
I think the bigger picture is if you love your cab there is no problem. TBH the secondhand market is crashing as people have less money anyway, so you're no worse off you can still trade for the same quality of cab. And if they decide to drop the price of the midget.. I just might put it on the credit card and not wait till next year..hint hint That said they are well worth the money..
 5.
If you haven't yet heard the combination of a Compact with a Midget, be prepared to be amazed. Astonishingly good rig which you can carry across the car park in a single, easy lift - one in each hand.
This is my dream rig.. I'll be getting the midget very soon
 6. I gig by tube and car... Markbass Head can go in your gig bag and the cab 2x10 can go on a foldable trolley from homebase B&Q etc Or the Promethean is a good travelling combo (1x10) with 500w when plugged ito a 2nd cab another very lightweight cab is the Barefaced midget then you can buy any lightweight head (markbass, Genz Benz, Orange terror bass, Swr etc) It can be done without screwing up your back. If you need more power buy a secondary cab and get a lift or try the barfaced compact with lightweight head Any bigger gig, you usually could DI into the PA
 7. I know this a bass forum, but but with my drum hat on, it annoys me when they always advertise it a different way round from the way it's usually played.. i.e. upside down. The way Chad plays it is the way it's usually played
 8. I can't actually believe this is a thread.. It's an Avatar!! not really a point for discussion.. I'm going to scratch my ar$e x
 9. I bought a hand made relic jazz.. I intended it to be my back up bass and it's my main bass not.. It looks battered, but actually don't care it sounds amazing and better than some actual old J's.. do what I did and... let your ears decide not some idiots like us on basschat.. you're playing it not us
 10. I've decided to the micro synth.. I'm using it on a new project and realised I was mad for considering selling it
 11. Turning up with a bass and amp and only to find they wanted me to play drums on that gig.... That NEVER happened again.. I always check
 12. I'm convinced the 'bass face' has a close correlationones er... 'bedroom' face .. regardless of if it's hard rock or a funky groove
 13.
I had a Fender Aerodyne Jazz, which had P/J pickups. The J pickup wasn`t that good, and hummed like an angry giant wasp. So I installed a Seymour Duncan Hot Stack - hum-cancelling - and it really changed the character of the bass, much more what I wanted. The sound of the pickup was still the same, though seemd to be "more" of everything, and that blasted hum weren`t there any more. Got the tip from reading about Duff McKagan - he uses the SD Hot Stack - good enough for him, good enough for me,
+1 I changed J of my Aerodyne to a Qtr Pound and it was lovely after that.. get a shop to do and it'll be fine..The bass gallery do a great job.. If you only hate the J pup change that then work from there
 14.
House and garden or the his Mrs
15.
My wife's a legend so we have basses and snowboards on the walls and she let me redesign our garden so it'd be easy for me to wash down and dry my kitesurfing kit. All she asks is that I don't leave crap lying around where she can trip over it. She's defo a keeper.
Please take pictures :-) sounds awesome

 18.
Which one will have them in full view in the living room
Would love to convince the mrs to do this
 19.
I mostly play with fingers but I do like those Big Stubbies.
I use the 3mm and they are great.. I started on fingers for over 20years and then brought the pick in my arsenal 10 years ago... both is best.. You should able to play any song well on pick or with finger.. then you can choose what is best for the song... some people say they use a pick for volume.. my OP on the that is strengthen your fingers!! I can get some serious volume from my fingers.. I use the pick for a pick style sound.. like someone would use a chorus pedal for a chorus sound..
 20.
hey man thanks for the interest again - did you get my last PM? Right now I'm seeking trades not a sale - cos I'm a feckin contrary bugger (sorry to all those I said Sale Only to the last few weeks) - if I sell then it's hard to justify keeping it for bass money. Trades ease the guilt.
In that case.. would you consider a trade? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/160005-fender-jazz-aeordyne-with-sd-j-pup-for-trade/ Pm me if interested
 21.
That may well be the case and it's also the case that the massive majority of those songs were recorded with a 4-string bass tuned EADG.
yep.. as a preferred 4 string player, I couldn't agree more It's good to be flexible and see this key changes as musical opportunities to improve ones playing rather than then becoming hindrances..
 22.
I don't buy the "it will sound just as good in any key" line. There are some songs that just shouldn't be buggered about with. Many a band have I heard murder some decent covers by executing them in a wholly inappropriate key. I had a five string once and although navigation of the fretboard became less of a problem after some homework, I was never able to fully adapt my slapping style to cater for the narrower spacings and extra fretboard width. I came to the conclusion that if and when I was able to do everything that had ever been done on a four string I would re-consider. I think I've got a long wait ahead of me!
A fair comment, but I would bet money that 99% of songs written are governed by what key the singer wishes to sing. The other 1% was when the writer was a guitarist or bassist who sung. It's all about the range of the singer. I think people forget the musicians are not at the forefront of the songs. it's the singer and the melody. I also think playing in a different key has a lot to do with how good the player is to execute the song, but it may have something to play in it.
