1. Back to the top, feel free to make me an offer for this!
2. Yup, it certainly is a nice bass, I can tell I'll feel silly once I let it go, but I just never use it! Give it a couple of months and I want one again! haha.
3. :S I see what you mean! Well we all what this bass looks like, I'll just put the pics of the dent an the little mark on the lower horn, sorry 'bout that fellas! I've no idea how to resize the pics, if you want the pics on the body/headstock then pm me an I'll send 'em to you!
4. Hey there! This is a rather recent aquisition of mine, a wonderful Ibby SR506 (Did the title give it away?). Reason for selling/trading? I just don't get on with 6 strings, the neck is comfy, but still feels weird to me. It's a great bass, in 9/10 condition as faras I'm concerned, there's a TINY mark on the lower horn, never even saw it 'till it came to taking pics! And there's a weird dent in the back near the neck bolts, no idea what caused this, it hasn't muffed up the finish or anything though. It's got an old but mostly unused set of nickel roundwounds on it, can't remember what make they were, maybe Warwick? not sure. specs: Mahogany body bubinga/Jatoba neck /w Rosewood board Abalone oval inlays Bartolini MK1 pups Here's the ibanez page for more info: http://www.ibanez.com/BassGuitars/model-SR506. 99% sure it's got a 16.5mm spacing, thomann seems to think so at least! I've also fited Schaller Straplocks, got the bits that fit onto your strap that'll come with this as well! There's no hardcase I'm afraid, or even a gig bag >.> So I'm gunna say that it's collection/meet up only in North/Central London Selling for £320, seeing as it's hardly been used, bar a couple of minor marks! What I'm most interested in though is a trade! Rickenfakers mostly! although if you've got a modified VM Precision TB with a pup near the bridge then let me know! I'd probably be interested, although I'd have to give it a try out first! Same goes for a CV 50s P with a pup near the bridge. If you've got an OLP perhaps? Or even a beat up old MM! I'm pretty open basically, jsut let me know what you've got! Worse I can say is no afterall! Oh, especially if you've got an explorer/SG shaped bass! Anyway, on with what most of you will be looking at this thread for, the pics! If you've got any questions, please do feel free to ask away! Thanks for looking! Jack. Price dropped to a more sensible price! Don't know what I was thinking trying to sell it for that much, think I was just too used to trying to sell my other bass for 400 Whoops! Anyway, price dropped to what I think it actually a decent price: £320.
5. Bass For Gits? That's one ugly bass in my opinion, whatever team designs the new gibson models has clearly gone insane, or gotten their kids to do the work for them...They've released so much crap recently!
6. Damn...if only you'd be interested in trading the cos jazz for my 5 string LTD! I bought it £750 or so new, but it's a bugger to try an shift on, i've tried...Oooh but I do want it! But I've just bought 3 basses in the past 6 months! so wish I could justify buying another! I just need to say, it's one beauty of a bass, if a little weird, but I'd so love to play it on stage!
7. wow...over 4k and the strings still don't seem to line up with the poles properly...way to go fender *facepalm*
8. Having just bought my own first fretless, I recently went through all this trying out fretless' an stuff. I thought I'd buy a VMJ fretless, since I have a fretted VMJ. I tried one out, it did sound pretty good, I have to admit. My mate pointed me towards a old 80s ibby fretless though which I ended up buying. It sounds like nothing else you can buy for £180!!! I'd say get an old ibby, they tend to go cheap for what they are! Every one I've palyed that's been made from 78-82 has been absolutely brilliant! Easily as good as the early MIJ fenders, but at less than half the price!
9. For £500 that'd be a rockbass...The NT vamps are really expensive, I'm not surprised though, I've only had one chance to play one, and it was one of the best sounding basses I've ever played, like pretty much every warwick I've palyed to be honest! haha. My only qualms are that it was active (loved it at the time, but I'm a passive man at the moment), and the neck was a bit big for my tastes. I love the look of the vampyres to be honest! I'd want one in a sorta dark wood stain, paint of some f holes, try to make it look like a classical instrument
10. Well, too late to suggest it now but you should've gone down the road of the Ibby Black Eagle! Just rout a big swoopy hole in the middle of it!
11. I didn't have my VMJ stock for very long...but it was damn nice stock, I just felt like modding it a bit So all I can really say is this...slam some Wizard 64s in there, with a badass3 and it's a whole new level of beast! haha. I've still yet to get some 500/250k pots installed, but I can't wait till I have. My only 2 complaints is that unfortunately the fingerboard isn't glossed, but it's still very nice to play, so it's not a big deal...And neither is the fact that the inlays look painted on to me, I'm not that fussed, from a distance they look real enough
12. Well damn, that's gotta be the best bass I ever done saw for that kinda money! And as usual, if it's still here by the time my bass sells, I might have to take it off your hands!
13. That's a shame...If I do get the money soon, any chance you'd be willing to sell anyway? It's a long shot, but that bass looks simply amasing!
14. Well, and I know this is a longshot, if you feel like you can wait long enough to save up £200, you could always buy my LTD I've yet to see a bass look more metal, and still look as nice as that bass. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=95446 Apart from that, i'd say go with the RB, I've tried a few and they've always seemed pretty good to me, more than I can say for the one BB I tried, although that may very well have been a bum bass :DEither way, good luck with the bass hunting!
15. Ah, it's this bass again! I saw this on ebay, was very tempted...Unforunately no funds to buy it with, but if I sell my 5string before this goes then expect a PM from me! Couple of things have come to mind...What's up with the finish? The burst doesn't cover the forearm contour, and it's not got a red part under where the pickguard was...Is this a refinish thing? Also, will a fender pickguard fit it? I'd definitely need to put a guard on it, cover up the finish a bit Thanks Jack.
16. Wow! first MM I've ever really liked...Very nice! Is it just me and my dodgey eyes, or are the pole pieces gold too?
17. Bump! Price drop, only 400 now! come on people, it's a bargain
18. I'd probably get the vortex warlock sig...I like the swirl on the front...I'd never play it though, they sound awful in my opinion.
19. My SR506 came with Elixirs on it, not sure what gauge, pretty sure the ibby site says though. If you want more bite, I'd say get new strings, always helps...And for me, when I wanted the same, I just raised the action an dug into the strings a bit more as I played. Saved me buying stuff
20. Always wondered, is there actually any severe tonal differences between the different brands? I'm sure there's minor differences between each neck, but is there anything that really sets a status apart from a modulus, in terms of sound?
