1. It's not mine but thought some might be interested: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Akai-Professional-SB...5#ht_952wt_1138 After hovering below £200 all weekend it's just jumped to near the £400 mark... BC "The Price Is Right" sweepstake! How high will the final price be? Closest guess without going over wins a prize.
2. Captain Beyond's "Dancing Madly Backwards (On A Sea Of Air)" Sounds hard. Is, briefly, then isn't.
3. Have a look at www.songsterr.com for tabs as well.

5.
So what did people think? I thought the Boosh were mildly amusing for about 5 minutes and then I could happily have lived without them! ZPZ was a lot more 'structured' than when I've seen them before - obviously helped by playing all of Apostrophe I quite enjoyed it & Dweezil is a fine guitarist but I seeing big Frank up on the video screen just made me wish it was him in person. I saw him live a couple of times and he brought so much presence to the stage that Dweezil doesn't really have. Enjoyed seeing Scott Thunes, looks totally different but moves exactly the same & still throws some cool shapes, lol. Surprisingly high 'twat' ratio in the audience near me. A fight nearly broke out at one point, lot of people really pissed wandering around & one git who was insistent on shouting out lines from the Apostrophe album just before they were actually sung live to show off how well he knew the album. Eventually someone gave him a good talking to to shut him up
An extremely enjoyable evening! It seemed like everyone I'd ever been to a gig with was there - and it was the busiest I'd ever seen the Roundhouse (agree re twat-ratio too, sadly). On-screen Frank worked surprisingly well, and it was cool having him "there" at gig volumes. Has anyone got a full setlist? The Thunes/Moon Unit-assisted Valley Girl encore was just brilliant. I'd seen Moon and daughter Mathilda wandering around the venue earlier, but of course didn't twig who they were until they were on-stage. (Valley Girl clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-48qRb5wefI) Boosh: not as good as I'd hoped. I went along with an open mind, not really having seen them before. (Actually I've seen Julian Barratt more in the audience at the Jazz Caff or the ex-Spitz than I have on telly with TMB).
6.
Thanks guys. Turns out there you can buy etymotic-type ones on Denmark Street. Hurrah!
Which shop did you find them in? I've got some that are getting on a bit, and are a bit ahem brown.
7.
Discontinued + Chris Wolstenholme = More desirable
Wouldn't it be funny if he started using a Markbass Super Synth all of a sudden
8. One of the guys I'm going with has a spare ticket - PM if interested. FV is £32, he's just looking to cover costs.
9. Direct link to cineworld if it's needed: http://www.cineworld.co.uk/cinemas/32?film...bileAgent=false I'd be there BUT I'm booked in to see Tony Levin and Steve Gadd round the corner at Ronnie Scott's - so I could see the film but miss the Q&A. And I'm having my diamond slippers adjusted that evening too.
10. Another +1 for Maiden - but aim for a steady stream of 8th (or 16th) notes rather than the Maiden "gallop". This means you'll have a different finger on the "one" each time, but it'll feel ok after a bit of practice. Start at a comfortable BPM and work up to your target by 5 BPM every day. Don't try to do too much too soon and strain something!
11. The singer's resigned as well now! He can't afford the time from the other bands/gigs he's committed to in the search for a new drummer. In the meantime, guitarist and I will be moping in a pub somewhere in Putney tonight. What tales of band woe have you got to make me feel better?
12. Hello I've just had the drummer of a band resign on the day of a rehearsal - and as I'm sure you know we're liable for 100% of the cost of the studio if we pull out at short notice. It's in Studio 3 at RMS in Putney, 6-11pm, see http://www.rmsstudios.co.uk/studio.html - £45 without drums, £50 with. So, if anyone wants it please drop me a line at [email protected] as soon as poss. Musicians, eh. Tony
13. Good work! Good luck for the final. I lived in Horsham in the early 1990s and my first ever band was in the Battle of the Bands three years running. We came 2nd, 3rd and erm unplaced respectively. Does it still take place in the bandstand outside Waitrose? It were all fields, etc.
14.
I've always felt the same. Not entirely sure why now
Relayer's my favourite Yes album - and Going For The One counts as classic Yes as well. 90125 is a brilliant album, but it's not prog any more. After that it gets a bit patchy until Magnification.
15. Here's Im at the Grammy Les Paul tribute http://video.mail.ru/mail/e.paskalova/12860/19874.html ...with Jeff Beck, Narada and Rhonda in the band. Who's the rhythm guitarist?
16. Stevie should have known better than to attempt performing his own song live without at least 4 clavinets on stage. AND he's not even drumming! pfft
17.
"they should take out the dislike button for all Stevie Wonder songs" Priceless.
Right on. FWIW I like the Sesame Street version:
18. Something you don't hear on Stevie's version: listen to the "horns only" track on the above link, 0m28s in. Bless you!
19. Incidentally, one of my bands is currently working on a cover that's somewhere between the original, the BBA version and Stevie Ray Vaughan's live version. In the SRV version, Tommy Shannon does a great job of picking out the right bits of the arrangement for the bassline. See if you can track down a copy. (Of course it's in Eb rather than E though)
20.
A few years ago, someone here posted a link to a sound analysis of Superstition - the riff turned out to be layer upon layer upon layer of clavinet, all played by Stevie.
Good luck reproducing this lot! http://homerecording.about.com/od/mixingyo...uperstition.htm 16 tracks in all, 8 of which are clav.
21. I got the Eagle Mountain SRV "Note" strap - eg http://www.gjsguitars.com/eagle-mountain-s...essories-straps - I didn't pay that much for it though. Sturdy and comfy on my Jazz bass. My favourite strap is the D'Addario with the sliding shoulder strap. No more shirt-tugs! They're hard to come by these days though - I got my most recent from www.shopoftheworld.com, couldn't find them in a recent search though.
22.
Yeah, you can fit that lot in-there is tons of space in the iGig G515 model. There is plenty of padding between the bass and the pockets, so you don't need to worry. I pretty much never use a hard case anymore.I've had my bass in fully loaded vans,in just the iGig,and it's always been fine.
Brilliant. Thanks for the reply - currently my rehearsals are all in and around London on so I do it all by public transport. The current setup is ageing Stagg (or similar) gig bag plus a Samsonite wheelie suitcase which despite being pretty sturdy is also feeling the strain. I think if I can get my essentials in a sturdy gig bag and ditch the wheelie I'd be on to a winner and more relaxed journey for me and anyone who's sadly been on the receiving end of a bass/wheelie case combination in rush hour. Dear Santa...
23. At least one of each right now, if that helps
24.
I'm almost certain you'd get all of the above in an igig with room to spare. Whether packing all this gear with the bass would compromise protection is another issue: I'm not sure I'd want to try it.
Good point, and something I'd been wondering about. With my current gig bag (a Stagg - pretty good but on its last legs) I put a couple of old folded up t-shirts on the bass body's front before zipping up, just protect against whatever's rattling around in the not-too-generous front pocket. Is there padding between the front pocket and the main compartment of an iGig bag?
