Ive got to play this live soon filling in ...spotted this version by the Black Crowes and loved it..awsome groove..whos that plying the Sadowsky? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09WlrVnramo
That's half of Dave Letterman's house band: Paul Schaffer on keys, Anton Fig on drums, and Will Lee on bass.
 2.
A recommendation (that I should do myself) in addition insurance, which I have through MU & Hencilla Canworth, is to get a UV marker pen and write you post code in assorted places, such as in the control cavity.
Good tip - although I'd also/alternatively use something more individual like your national insurance number, birthday (DD/MM/YYYY format) or passport number, for example.
 3.
I tried Music Guard, but it's a very rare instrument so MG want a valuation from a recognised dealer, though they wouldn't say who. I'm still waiting for over a year for "Vintage & Rare" to get back to me, so for now I'm running a big risk.
I had to ask V&R for valuations for a couple of my older guitars, luckily I work round the corner so I could go in on a regular basis and pester them. You'd think for the amount a valuation costs you'd get a quick turnaround. While we're on the subject, can anyone recommend anywhere else to get valuations done?
 4.
Check the policy cover very carefully and if you have any doubts call the company in question. I'm not sure original receipts are necessary, depending on your type of cover (again, check with your company). Anyway, you don't really care about how much you paid for something, you care about the cost of replacing it. Photos of the item, with yourself in the picture, are always a good idea. My wife recently lost the stone out of her engagement ring - we had no receipt (what do they expect after 30 years!!) and we had to rely on photos to prove our ownership and the value of a replacement diamond. I suppose it helped that we still had the ring itself. Insurance claims can be tricky things.
I agree with this - I have Musicguard cover on some vintage and valuable equipment. Much of it was bought second-hand, so receipts are rare. I asked MG for clarification on proof of ownership, they said photos of me with the equipment would be ok, I have pictures of my schedule printed out with the equipment. if you move house, take new pictures in a room which can obviously be identified as being in your new place.
 5. Big prog fan here. Who cares where the line is drawn: Genesis, Yes, Rush, King Crimson, Phish, Umph, Caravan, Hatfield, Soft Machine, Dream Theater, Transatlantic, Marillion, Porcupine Tree, Jethro Tull, ELP, Camel, Focus. Gear: Rickenbacker 4001, 2x Shergold double-necks, Fender Jazz Geddy, Moog, Novation bass synths, Takamine 12-string electro-acoustic
 6. Novation Bass Station or something by Moog?
 7.
The last one was with Ernest Tibbs.
I think Allan must have been back to the Jazz Cafe with Ernie since I saw him with JJ. Any ideas who was in the band before Jimmy Johnson (not this time, last time). Hope that makes sense...
 8. Great gig last night - lots of notes and a very loud drummer. Nice to see AH and GH in the pub over the road beforehand! Also, we hung around afterwards - JJ helped me understand his amp-less setup, and I helped him with his pronunciation of "Hereford". Fair swapsies there I think. (btw the last-minute nature of the gig was because the Hereford gig of the tour originally scheduled for Sunday night was cancelled). Help my failing brain: I'm sure I've seen AH twice at the Jazz Cafe - once with Chad Wackerman and JJ, another time with Chad Wackerman and another bassist. Who was the mystery bassist whom I've forgotten?
 9. Very sad news. Full story on http://www.mickkarn.net/ - including a link to paypal to give your donations of support.
 10.
Haha, yeah I had to do a double take too! They are playing at Ronnie's on Friday and Saturday but not keen on that place...
I'm going. £37 at Ronnie's, £12 at Sutton FC Social Club. The Kronenbourg is cheaper n'all. I was at the Jazz Caff gig where it was AH, JJ and Chad Wackerman. J was too quiet! Hope they sort that out this time.
 11. Bump. Another Invisible Lead Soup gig this week - this time at Arch 635 in Clapham, just round the corner from Clapham North and Clapham High St stations. We're headlining, but the other bands start at 8.30pm, with first up our chums the Mothers of Memphis - see http://www.mothersofmemphis.com. Here's the facebook event for the evening - http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=113364242028100 - come and say hello if you make it. Also - our first pop music video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgFzayMFNww see you! Tony
 12. Bump! Recycling the thread to promote ongoing Invisible Lead Soup gigs. We're appearing tonight at the Boogaloo in Highgate, supporting Bipolar Empire. Only £3 to get in! Here's a bunch of links - look/listen/sign up/friend request/tweet/say hi as appropriate: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Invisibl...oup/13164197790 http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=111864628845278 http://www.myspace.com/theinvisibleleadsoup https://twitter.com/invleadsoup http://www.thesoup.co.uk Come and say hi if you make it. 13. "while this curve roughly approximates the frequency response of your ears, it is modified by the frequency response of your sound card and headphones" Phew. *head in bass bin*
 14. Hello, I'm hoping some of you might know a keyboard player out there who might in search of a new adventure. I posted a while ago about starting up a new band, (here's the original - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=52638). Thanks again for all those suggestions, I've got ads on most of the sites mentioned. We do jazz/prog/fusion covers, and I've got a drummer, guitarist sax/flute player already recruited and rehearsing, but finding a keys player is proving difficult. You can see a bit more info and the ads on musofinder here - http://www.musofinder.co.uk/digq/92479. Also, if you can suggest any more places to advertise please let me know. If you know anyone who might be interested, please PM me to put us in touch, or email me at [email protected]. Thanks! Tony
 15.
HAHA I think I might well buy one of these - http://www.thomann.de/gb/fullers_unilock.htm
Is that a disco ball finish? Cooool.
 16.
... BIHB: No, I'd prefer you to not mess with my settings Me: So I have to use your rig and play with settings I don't like because you don't think I can get my amp off stage in 15 mins? BIHB: Well yeah I ended up using my rig.
Hah, brilliant. What a loser.
 17.

Drool! I have the SansAmp Programmable BDDI with an XLR cable and M/F converter for gigs with no amp - which has got me out of a sticky situation on more than one occasion. My most regularly-gigging band often does the 4- or 5-band nights on the usual London circuit. The general rule of thumb for me is headline act brings backline. they need to soundcheck first and play last, so it makes sense they bring the gear. If they don't bring an amp (or won't let me use it), I'll DI, and pray for decent foldback. If they do bring an amp and let me use it, they get beer and sweets.
 18.
This is the last time I do a Google search for you guys..... http://www.dipintoguitars.com Pretty ugly guitars though I have to say. Phil
Yeah, well done. Been there several times, the links to the UK dealers are dead ends, unfortunately. I'll know where to come next time I need help with a search engine though! Thanks. As for looks, yes they're all ugly. Apart from the Beveldere Deluxe.
 19.
There were a couple of pics of Jamaaladeen Tacuma in the July Bass Player mag with his DiPinto Belvedere Deluxe bass. I'm keen on buying one of these so just wondered if anyone has seen or played one of these basses?
Bump! Me too - I've had one in the back of my mind since I saw Tom Herbert playing one with Acoustic Ladyland at a gig at the Spitz. Any other sightings or idea where they can be tried/bought? Thanks!
 20. And somehow I forgot one of my own favourites.... the mid-90s version of King Crimson, with Tony Levin and Trey Gunn: (segues into...) and
 21.
Monkeyboy... and err... showaddywaddy? Havent I seen some of the bigboys, like Marcus for example, have a bassplayer play bass whilst they do their thing!?
Good point. Last time I saw Victor Wooten (at the Jazz Caff a couple of years ago) he had Anthony Wellington on 6-string. It may well have been this gig actually:
 22. Last week I saw The Humans play at the Scala in London - the line-up was Toyah Wilcox on vocals, Robert Fripp on guitar, Bill Rieflin on bass, and Chris Wong on bass (see www.myspace.com/wearethehumans for more info). All drum parts (not every song had them) came out of a magic box. What other bands have two bassists? The only ones I can think of right now are Ned's Atomic Dustbin and T*ts Of Death.
 23. Hello - I saw in this week's Time Out that Stu Hamm is playing on March 11 at Dingwalls in Camden Town - see http://www.dingwalls.com/listings/?lgig=4a...p;performance=1 Already got my ticket - thought you lot might be interested as well Tony
 24.
Bump!
Have you got any clips? Can't see any on your myspace page.
 25. I've just completed a purchase from fleabag (see http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=75463) - all went according to plan, a very quick delivery and lots of speedy communication about well pretty much anything and everything. Buy with confidence! All thumbs up.
