  1. What a great turnaround from Janek and IMA. btw everyone should go see this on Saturday night https://www.cafeoto.co.uk/events/baba-yagas-hut-kenji-hyakkei/ - just round the corner from the Vortex. And this is on at the Vortex Sunday evening https://www.vortexjazz.co.uk/events/2024-06-01/ and a free jam session downstairs at the Vortex same evening https://www.vortexjazz.co.uk/event/vortex-jam-session-4-2025-03-30-2025-04-13-2025-04-20-2025-04-27-2025-05-18/2025-06-01/ (I might cancel my holiday for all this now...)
  2. Great idea. Likewise no skin in the game here, I've always been booked on holiday for June 1st. A central London bass bash would be great - take in Bass Gallery, see how many basschatters can fit in the Wunjo basement, pub crawl around all the Bass Brewery pubs etc
  3. Official announcement at https://www.bassday.eu/
  4. From Yolanda Charles' facebook "Bass Day Europe, set for the 1st of June, has just been postponed" https://www.facebook.com/share/16FF3NGyHH/
  5. Looking forward to your review!
  6. Short notice I know, and I can't make it - but Invisible Airwaves are gigging tomorrow, Saturday April 5th at the Cavern in Raynes Park in south west London, a minute or two walk from Raynes Park station.
  7. On the offchance you've not seen it, online only Bass Magazine is (maybe was) written by folk from the US BP staff, and is usually produced to the same high quality https://bassmagazine.com/issues/
  8. What was properly jaw-dropping was £8.35 for a pint of 3.8% Metro session IPA (despite a false start soundwise, they sorted it out pretty quickly and yeah it sounded pretty good. Much better than last time at Heaven, not as good as the Jazz Cafe)
  9. Have a look at Whitelands. They supported Slowdive on the recent reunion tour and are headlining Gazefest sometime this year.
  10. I've been lucky enough to play at Yolanda's jam night at the Spice of Life. Her current band were the house band for the jam, so that's how scary it was. Also hugely recommended is the No Treble podcast/interview she did, https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2020/03/05/groove-episode-63-yolanda-charles/
  11. I am also here! Being unhip up squeezed against the beer fridge and coffee machine.
  12. Ah yes now the Bass Day EU website says CLS Conference Centre as mentioned above. CLS = City of London School btw, https://www.cityoflondonschool.org.uk/ and some of the event spaces look pretty cool https://www.cityoflondonschool.org.uk/venue-hire/
  13. Magazine by the O2 has been mentioned before https://magazinelondon.co.uk/whats-on/
  14. Steve Lawson has mentioned on his facebook that he's doing a (literal) coffee shop gig in Peckham in February: "London! I've got a really fun lil gig coming up in Peckham. Fri Feb 21st, with beautiful human and fabulous bassist @bassdbler. It's at @ronspeckham, starts at 7pm and tickets are PWYW on the door, but lemme know if you're coming as the place is tiny and we might have to rethink the no tickets thing if a ton of people want to be there 😂. Please spread the word. It's my first London gig since before the pandemic and it's a warm-up for another gig TBA soon. Plus you'll get to see JD and he's fabulous 💜" https://fb.watch/xu0GasRXr6/ https://ronspeckham.com/
  15. Yolanda Charles has "Instramentals just might be doing something at the bass show this year" on her Facebook feed. (not seen much else, admittedly) https://www.facebook.com/share/p/15AVNbrs1R/
  16. Turns out Dave is unavailable: https://www.loudersound.com/news/david-bowies-berlin-trilogy-musicians-reunite-for-european-tour Bonus points for Kevin Armstrong from the Live Aid line-up.

  17. Perfect! Gator Icon does the job. Just need to repack it so Santa can redeliver in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the assist!
  18. As per edited original post and subject line, the price for Basschat readers is now a nice round £2000.
  19. Thanks - do you mean this one? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mono-Cases-Electric-Guitar-Case/dp/B002FKLNKO?th=1 Looks a little small for my JMJ, which is 42.5" end to end.
  20. I think this should be the ultimate for JMJs - the Gator Icon in blue: Best price I've found is £186. Massive Tone love for anyone who can find somewhere to beat that price. Who doesn't love a Black Friday price challenge! (btw Bax doesn't count, unless you can convince me that they're actually legit and worth dealing with)
