  1. You were doing so well there, then you ruined it 😂 I don’t get the bashing Fodera receive from time to time either. Yes, there’ll be the % that have tried them and genuinely don’t like them, much the same as myself and almost anything with Gibson written on it. However, I suspect there a few that haven’t tried them and pigeonhole them as boutique/overpriced which they are far from IMHO. I’ve had a few Foderas and wouldn’t have sold any of them if money weren’t a factor.
  2. Welcome to Basschat Tony.
  3. Welcome to Basschat. I look forward to hearing some of your tales from the road 👍
  4. Aha. I was just watching some You Tube videos for 3D printers and as you say, half the battle is having the file to print. You appear to have solved that 👍
  5. Not a bad shout, but I'm not keen on sticky stuff on my bass. I'm just wondering whether I could copy the one I have with a 3D printer 🤔
  6. I don't find the Stingray scratch plate sufficient to use as a rest.
  7. I find using the corner of the fingerboard is too far forward and I do use a plectrum where required, but most of the time, it isn't.
  8. I have a Zero-Mod thumb rest on one of my Stingray's already and I really like it, but I could do with another one as I don't want to be constantly swapping it over. Are there any good alternatives to the Zero-Mod, because as great as it is, I don't want to pay out £40 (plus whatever taxes I get charged) for shipping another one from the USA.
  9. I’ve just been accepted, it I did it in the band name rather than mine. We’ll see what happens.
  10. Ah, I’ll withdraw that then. It’s a public group so at least you can view it anyway.
  11. I just joined that group as well. Noticed a friends band has put themselves forward. Have messaged him to delete it.
  12. But, did you see the same lad rip it up on a Zon? Both of you may have enjoyed it even more 🤷‍♂️. No disrespect, but this has been round the houses many times. Put a great player on a cheapo bass and he/she is gonna be great whatever. Put a crap player on an expensive bass and he/she will still sound crap.
  13. Well done mate. What a way to crash out of this years challenge! Bravo 👏👏👏👏
  14. Just looked up the conversation I had with our singer about it (I was actually considering buying it) and it was £2750. Yeah, a bit of a mark-up I think.
  15. Having said that, I remember Bass Direct had one of those in stock as I saved the photo. I don’t recall it being referred to as a BFR though, but it may well have been. Perhaps they all are? Memory again may not be serving me well, but I seem to remember the price as £2799.
  16. It’s a BFR, so not truly indicative, but I was £100 off.
  17. Handed over my Stingray IV 30th to Trevor today ☹️. Sad day for me, happy day for Trevor. Great guy to deal with and thoroughly recommended. Basschat at its finest.
  18. Poor bloke can’t win. Gets hammered if he lip syncs at gigs and the same happens when he sings live 😂
  19. As a former Dingwall Leland Sklar Signature owner, I can say that they are quite different basses. Those mando frets really are something else and I think they are a large part of it for him because, as you say, he plays with a light touch, but can easily ground the string due to the mando frets. If I had bought the Mk2 three pick-up version to start off with, I wouldn't have sold it.
  20. Love those plain ebony boards. Good luck with the sale Mart. Someone is going to get a cracking ‘Ray.
  21. No, it's not Egyptian Smoke. It's Inca Silver with a black pearloid pickguard. It has a Status Graphite neck with a phenolic fretboard. Officially introduced on 18 January 2001 at the NAMM. All made within first couple months of 2001. Total of 100 made: 49 stayed in US, 49 shipped to overseas locations, 1 retained by Ernie Ball and 1 to NAMM organisers.
  22. You may to wait until I’m gone and you can haggle with Mrs.H over that one 😜 I do feel very fortunate to have stumbled across this one when I did.
  23. As much as I love a MM bass, sadly I think you’re right. They would have to reinvent the wheel in bass form for me to cough up that amount of money - and I do like a sparkly finish! The Specials were decent enough in terms of spec changes (I don’t like to call them upgrades as I’m not entirely convinced they are) and I did buy in, but I think that will be the last time. As you say, there are other options from independent luthiers where you can tick all your boxes for less money. Might be a bit of a longer wait, but that’s some of the fun.
