1.
Sorry, I had a Flashback (with 2-tek bridge) and though I liked the sound of it, I just couldn't get on with the aesthetics!
I played it... very heavy indeed.
2. CS rules.... pity no Jon Anderson.
3. Love Niles.... Rhythm-guitar part to Le Freak is awesome...
4. If we're doing individual notes in answer to this question.... here's my vote for 'E': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUWn90y7Kgc
5. He is good and very tasteful... liked Dog eat Dog and Wild Things Run Free. BUT if you're following Jaco you've a Herculean task ahead of you. Ask Victor B who is a great player but will always be compared with his predecessor - more so than anyone else just by proximity. Seemed to recall LK played a BC Rich at one point?...
6. Hmmm.... I could do that EBS_Freak but that implies taste and subtlety. Bit I'm still loving the extremes here: 'ice-pick in the forehead' vs. 'drowning in chocolate' tones. Currently messing with that air-pump 'daisy-cutter' - trouser-flapping bass noise which is used to suppress civil unrest.
7. I'm lucky enough to be the owner of this one! This bass is the end-result of this build thread: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=141577 I will post some sound samples when I get a decent recording and get my bearings around an enormous 35" 5-string fretboard. Visog P.S. Bridge P/U mid-boost Jaco tone is always fun but currently enjoying the neck P/U mid and treble boost for gritty 'Rick-o-tone'. P.P.S. Loving the consistency of tone across all 5 strings P.P.P.S. Use bass boost at your peril! Sorry Neighbs
8. Yes - I have got one. What's your question? (They're big but loud!)
9. Hi Bass Community, Want to tap your collective wisdom. My GB bass (5-string) is nearly ready (http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=141577) and I want an amp/cab or combo to reflect the high-end zing and bass burp these basses can produce. Any recommendations for sound production? I'm tempted by the TC Electronics BH500 + 210 + 212 offers out there for ~£700. What do you think or can you guys recommend something better? Constructive suggestions welcome... (but don't go insane with the budget right? I'm sure anything would sound good through a full SWR stack but I can't afford one and my wife would make me keep it the shed.) visog NP: Jamie Cullum interviewing Pat Metheny on R2
10. The rough-cut doesn't look great but the final shape is worth it...
11. Clamps? Here's 24 of them!
12. Here's one of the top... looking good
13. Hello, Some photos of a bass being born... Can't wait to hear it! Visog
14. 600w! 'home use'!? Anyway, nice cab. Good luck with the sale.
15. Wow! Bump for your playing and your bass's fruity tone
16. What a lovely bass. Really understated but with so many features. Plus you don't have to worry about dinging it (too much). If I wasn't committed elsewhere, I'd bag this for this great price.
17. Good example. I've got one of them too but mine is more... 'abused'.
18. I'd love to come to see him. Thanks for event. Work allowing, I'll be there. Visog
19. > I have no idea how to measure it, drop me a PM please on how to do it and I'll drop a tape on it. It's just the nut to bridge distance, i.e. the speaking length of the string. (Shorter scales have less tension but may sacrifice the fundamental. Opposite for long scale lengths but you sacrifice playability. Note a Dingwall attempts to do it all on the one fretboard. Not played one so I'm not sure how it works out....) visog
20. Good looking... What's the scale length? 34" or 35" visog
21. Wow - that's some action! The strings are virtually lying on the fretboard!
22. Eurosteve, Is it bolt-on or neck-through? visog
23. >There are a few knots of wood on the burl top that have been filed and are noticable on close inspection. What on earth do you mean? (This bass would have been flawless leaving the makers.) Also, does it have ramp by any chance? Visog
24. So if this is too narrow and a Yam's too wide - exactly what string spacing are you after? BTW what is the string spacing on the Carvin? visog
25. Hi, What's the scale length? And whereabouts is the bass? Ta
