1.
Well that all depends on the quality of the workmanship doesn't it. I would be another one for it's your bass do with it what YOU wish.
Still a massive job. Even when badly done.
2. That's a hell of a job to do or free. He sounds like a decent chap.
3. Yes, it's the shadow of the white one!
4. I know what you mean. I want my aria pro ii inazuma back so i can pretend to be 12 again!
5.
i use superglue on any little nicks in necks. just leave it set for 24 hours.file it flush and wet sand it , then get some compound polish and its done .
yep. Or drop fill with laquer if it's a nitro finish. Poly and acrylic wont take touch ups very well so the glue thing is about your best bet. DO NOT use a wet towel and hot iron on a laquered finish. The grain around the area will expand and cracks will abound.
6. For cutting the amount you'll need, any old bandsaw/hand saw blade should do it. A small disc sander is perfect for making nuts in a snip. Bone definately has a different ring to it. Always wondered if vegetarian guitarists are aware of the meaty nature of some of their instruments. I use ebony or cocobolo usually. Bone is cheaper though if you cut from 'raw' stock from the butchers. I think it has to be bleached and what have you.
7. I would never use rosewood for a fretless. I'm sure others may dissagree but imo ebony is the only way to go (more or less). Definately a no to laquer, the strings will scratch it up and chip it off, I'm 100% certain of that. Epoxy is the only option in this case. Horrible stuff but the only thing that is anywhere near hard enough for the purpose.. You'll need a radius block to match your fingerboard (ebay).

9. oh. some shallow pop nonsense then.
10. Look for loose earth wires. Joints that wiggle but aren't obviously broken. The outer pin of the jack is where you need to check first as that sounds like the culprit.
11. Obvious problem is the bass taking up too many low frequencies and knocking out the vocal lows. The crux is this. . do you have a seperate amp for the bass? if not then you have no choice but to go throught the pa. In my experience, make do and mend and be happy with what you get. Unless it's a massive venue theres no problem. Modern venues always have ridiculously high volumes which are unneccessary. Tell the sound guy you want lower levels.
12. akg 404. I wouldn't generally use a condensor for live use. They like to pick up everything. a sure sm57 would be fine i would have thought.
13. Does happen to me also every now and again + new content seems to take a few minutes to appear on the list. Whenever you post, the thread dissapears for a bit.
14. Yamaha dtxpress iii in great condition. Perfect for home studios and such like. Right chaps. I'm afraid my dtxpress iii has to be sacrificed to help recover from christmas/economy slowdown. Just a feeler really but i'm dead serious about selling for the right price. It's a fab kit and has served me very well for midi recording and home rehearsals. I've had it for some years now but it is all in fine condition. I find the pads work very well and you soon forget that it is not an acoustic kit. 8 pads + hi-hat pedal. multi trigger snare/two rim triggers and main pad. 3 cymbal pads (one for hi-hat) no bass pedal although i can throw one in if i really really have to. Just uses any old pedal. No stool or owt like that. Kit only. The brain has some very convincing acoustic sounds and a lot of fun electro and percussion kits, along with a few bizarre and frankly pointless noises. Best used with drum software. Something like bfd, but works fine by itself.. I put this together piece by piece and it cost around 800 to complete. You can google the specs i'm sure. I'm looking for £400 MINIMUM. Pick up only. I'll post pics tonight or tomorrow. I can arrange a courier for £20 plus courier fee. It would be a pain to pack up for shipping but i will do it if needs be. I have an authentic copy of bfd2 that i also wish to shift, along with the 8bitkit package. I'll let that go for £150 which i think is a bargain. Tell me if I'm wrong. pm any interest and i'll get right back to ya. Cheers then. Jon
15.
I noticed a pattern too! 3,5,7,9,12,15,17,21,24 They have dots on them
fixed
16. The part of the pattern that would worry me the most is the getting kicked out part.
17. When i first noticed these i thought there must have been some awful tearout that had to be carved out. A lot of design 'developments' come from material failure.
18. cool bass. not keen on these hollowed out forearm contours you see quite a bit now.
19.
You mean the cellulose finish 'letting the tone out' from an old or Highway 1 Fender isn't heard by the audience and so not a big deal? What about the bright sound of a light coloured maple fingerboard? No? Surely they can hear the gold plating on the plugs though.
Good one. It's all in the ear of the beholder!
20.
check that the bridge is fully tightened against the body of the bass even one loose screw will affect the sound of the bass, also check that your strings are seated properly in the machine heads its amazing how such a small thing can make a difference , another thing to check is that the bridge saddles are sitting straight its easy for these to be off slightly, as you know when you take the strings off the saddle housing can rock back and forth. also check the nut is ok no bits of gunk have got between the nut and the strings, another thing you can do is adjust the poles on the pickups for individual height if one string is sounding louder than another you can get a good balance that way too. last thing to do if none of those things worked would be to adjust the truss rods , i have had problems with brand new rics and i have always managed to fix them . geo
and tighten the tuner fixings.
21. Get some audio samples up.
22. Or charge you 15.000 and call it a fodearer.
23. Who can argue with that? And what a beautiful looking fingerboard.
