1. would a few bricks do the same job?
2. About as useful as a chocolate fireguard. Sorry. Just wanted to use that saying.
3. Oh what some people wont do is beyond imagination. the jeremy clarkson signature model. whatever next? A jaco jeep?
4.
?? My P is perfectly balanced .. That said I generally play with the neck fairly level. I know from my profile pic, obviously I used to play with the neck shooting up .. but that was a couple of years ago now, .. I'd say that body weight would be a far greater factor than a slightly larger headstock.
Sorry but no. The centre of gravity has everything to do with balance, not weight.
5. or roads.
6.
I did look at those and I'm very interested. But would they sound like a fender? And what about neck dive - would that not be an issue on a body that light?
huh? isn't neck dive a problem with fenders anyway? it isn't the body weight which affects neck dive but the position of the strap buttons and the sheer enormity of a 4 in line headstock.
7. Oh spot on. If you want an antique then buy a wardrobe. New is best.

9. Go with the relic then. You know you want to!
10. Go with your gut. Or buy some sand paper and a toffee hammer!
11.
How old are you? Is it too late for you to age it yourself by having a long an distinguished gigging career?
+1 There is nothing like a guitar that has battle scars that you created yourself. In the words of mcpitman "You're one of them tossers who goes in a clothes shop, buy a pair of jeans that are already dirty"! Seriously though, Only you decide!
12. You could just send it as is if you ask me. Flight case were made for transporting basses after all. You could wrap it up to make it pretty, but that would be the only reason in my book. £15 is damn cheap. Anything under 20kg is ok with royal mail i reckon.
13.
I hadn't tried a different mains cable and that seemed to be a good idea. I just tried it a minute ago and a) the crackling was worse and when I tried to earth myself like before, I started getting shocks between me and the radiator/strings! Hmmm.... I really need to find somewhere else to test my setup.
pops turn to bangs and a large THUD!.
14.
The Cure's Pictures of You has got plenty of baritone guitar on it. Robert Smith is credited with playing "6 string bass" on it.. I very nearly bought one of those korean Gretsch baritones, but I realized that I was never going to take it out of the house just moments before flashing the credit card... It was so pretty in silver sparkle...
one of my favourite songs that.
15. no need for heavy basses. Makers still follow the fender traditions that are imo extremely outdated. There are plenty of folk who make very lightweight instruments, thank god! Great big straps etc just make it even heavier.
16.
Never mind playing it, tuning it must be interesting.....
I was gonna say that.
17.
Er, it's not one of the originals, the name came back into circulation a couple of years bac. I had one of the originals (part of Hagstrom I think?), my 1st bass, £10 in 1973. I was robbed These are far superior to the one I had, and probably cost less than the originals do now.
Aah, I see.
18. futurama (selmer), ace! Collectible. Nitro finishes, lots of crackling, nice! One of the most comfortable guitars i ever played. Never ad a go on their basses mind. Grab it for the right price! A steal at 150. I would but I dont have the space. Easy now.
19. Actually, oh nevermind. Funny how the images on roto packs are of 60's rockers. Get the old mans machines back!
20. OHH. I think rotos are s**t aswell so can i get a free box too? or am i too late?
21. Gave up bass making to concentrate on his chat show career?
22. Compressor, octave, fuzz, chorus, graphic. Bass compression is only vital if you think you need it. I would guess for a synth sound it would be useful.
23. Funny as f**k! Obviously somebody having a public go at their bass 'player'.
24. What do you want to know???? As high as you want them if you mean the adjustable height. The neck pup should be lower than the bridge for volume balance but the bridge can be almost touching the strings. Any good? The actual height of the pups is about 25mm or so.
25. Black is hard to paint. Shows all imperfections badly. You can't paint a guitar without taking everything off first. You will have a hell of a time sanding that polyurethane finish off. In fact no matter what you do it will be a down right beast to get off cleanly. The best way would be to get a polyurethane spray paint from b&q and spray over the existing finish. About 10 coats should do it following the manufactures guidelines regarding cure time etc. Rub the peaks off with wire wool, then tcut. Or summat.
