4. Can't say I like those two that much but I love the fact they're named Sauron and Battlestar!
5. "Status" clearly also includes that you must live in England/Wales I beg your pardon, England only at this point.
6. I like a nice clean punchy tone, and I heartily recommend the use of 3 fingers (a la Mr Sheehan) to achieve speed. Harmonically it's pretty straightforward, following the guitar most of the time and filling in around them when they go off on a twin lead odyssey. I also get to do the odd tapping break, and I quite enjoy doubling lead guitar lines (sweeps etc). You can check it out at the link in my sig.

8. Burning Earth- www.myspace.com/onceburningearth Metal! Glasgow Headline or support Most of our songs are pretty long, we could probably do 90 minutes if we had to. The bar would do great business if we did.
9. And, I've just noticed (no, I've not been staring at that ad for eight minutes!), "another quality attribute is the encased and in oil stored mechanic". I've no idea what that means but it sounds filthy.
10. Extra points for referring to one's "massive maple corpus".
11. That seems to be around the going rate for a bass whammy- they're not made any more and the bass model seems somewhat sought after. I think it has some harmony modes that aren't on the red versions.
12. I'd suggest keeping an eye on the classifieds at Talkbass.com- if you can find a seller who doesn't mind shipping you might be able to get an even better deal.
13.
Looks quite functional, whats the amp ?
The preamp is a Boss VF1 and the power amp is a BK Electronics module I bought from Dood on here. The cab is a 1x15" of pretty much unknown provenance but it is rubbish. TBH the cab's the only thing I really want to replace.
14. And listening to Suffocation to get in the mood? -Take a stool if you can -Take a pencil! Even better, take two. -A doughnut or something to stop your spike slipping. -If you're playing as part of a section, just remember that the principal is meant to be blamed for any mistakes. If you're the only one, or playing principal, just remember no one really listens to the basses anyway Do you know what pieces you're playing yet? Let us know how you get on anyway.
15.
Stethescope, taped you your bass. The 'True Tone'. If you think that is silly, there is actually a procust that is effectively that called the butterfly or something.
I think its the Dragonfly? I just tried plugging my Roland headphones directly into my bass- I got nothing, even with my Conklin's 18V preamp maxed.
16. Is there much you can do on as Stick that you can't do on an extended range bass?
17. Basslab make a headphone amp that can be fitted internally, although I think it requires an extra hole to be drilled for another jack. Go to www.basslab.de and click on electronics-->bassxx head.
18. 6 piece, for that epic feel. edit- well, it will be once we find a new drummer.
19. Devin Townsend- not a bassist but a master producer as well as an all round wierdo genius/guitar hero.
20. Trace Elliot- never gotten a tone I liked out of one. Same for Ashdown. Stupidly big and heavy rigs- size isn't everything guys.
21. +1 for the Violin Shop- they have a good range of basses and bows, as well as accessories, and are pretty happy to let you try stuff out.
