  1. Past hour
  2. Just seen a Fender Mexican Player Plus Jazz V on E-Bay £1.6k or best offer. I nearly spat my tea out!!
  3. Diifficult to avoid politics on this one, but basically the British right wing press would have a total meltdown if anyone in government ever mentioned the idea. It'd be wall to wall headlines about 'woke handouts' and 'feckless scroungers'. To be fair I'm pretty confident that there would be huge resistance from the same people to any kind of universal income, even in the face of mass AI induced unemployment, let alone anything aimed at subsidising creatives. Which has a certain irony, given that journalism is one of those creative sectors that's already taking a hammering from AI.
  4. Yeah, but the price... From memory, a shaped bass case was £170. Now, €310. Even accounting for the exchange rate, that's a 50% price rise.
  5. Today
  6. Must be passive or have the option to switch from active to passive. Prefer short scale as I have small hands but if I have to make a sacrifice somewhere then standard scale. I dont like woodgrain finishes. I play a rnage of genres and current basses are Sterling ray34's. Ive looked up the following: Rapier Saffire Schecter Banshee Sire Marcus Miller Budget is around £500 so any suggestions. I dont mind used but am very wary of scams so it sort of puts me off of ebay etc
  7. Hi! As far as I know they were bought by polish company that manufactures innovative guitars (RUF guitars - https://www.rufguitars.com/models) and are going to start building cases soon. You can get some (very little) info in polish here:
  8. Thanks. Im just wondering if its the battery clip as the connector that goes to the red wire is really tight (broke my nail trying to get if off) while the other connector came off really easy. Maybe its too loose?
  9. Maybe, I just saw a fleck of red under the refinish. I'll pop some more photos up tomorrow
  10. Oooh! I have one of those combos itxs imaginatively called a 1110 (gp11 + 10" speakers). Mine sounded a bit rough and needed the matched transistors in the front end of the power amp replacing. It's also got the 'wrong' psu from new, so I was able to add an extra pair of NOS mosfets to unleash unimagined power levels... I'll add more to the story. It had Eminence Beta 10s (maybe not the best choice) fitted and one was reverse polarity so swapping its leads around greatly helped. It weighs about 96lbs so I added 50mm castors, which lasted a couple of months. So I fitted heavy duty 75mm ones. Bought it from a lad in the midlands. He had a mate there who had helped him move it. They offered to carry it to my estate, and where aghast when the old fart picked it up and put it in on his own. Sometimes it's not strength it's just knowing how to lift safely, but 'it made I larf'.
  11. Do You think it was orinally Dakota red?
  12. Hope it all turns out for the best.
  13. Yesterday
  14. Basschat, thy work is done.
  15. Electronics or pickup issue then. You could try connecting the pickup(s) direct to the jack socket and see what happens to the volume.
  16. No, sorry shouldve mentioned thats been checked and is fine
  17. Yes, his first bass was a left handed Wilson Rapier. It was stolen but when they got their contract he switched to right handed jazz basses which he had switched around and repainted that grey colour.
  18. If this doesn't sell soon I think I might part it out. Shame to do that but if anyone is interested in individual parts please let me know and I can look into that. Ta
  19. Or .. slightly randomly a nice set of golf clubs 🤔
  20. That has just reawakened my PTSD.
  21. Could be the pickup height.
  22. My Favourite Headache - Geddy Lee
  23. She plays better bass than me whilst riding a unicycle (see YouTube) And now I see that she is even more talented than I thought. What’s not to like ?
  24. Another moment of madness, never mind. A November '63 Jazz. Refin at some point in early '70s. I believe it could have been CAR originally. Apart from that all looks good. I had it taken apart to confirm (photos to follow later on this week). Rusty strings, frets aren't great, sounds superb plus some provenance.
