  2. Thanks for the link. I will let you know how I get on.
  3. Further reduction for this wonderful Jazz bass...
  4. Seems like people pine for the 15's of old. Back then our sound was limited by the speakers. Our sound was altered by the limitations of the cab. Now we can buy speakers that faithfully reproduce the sound of our basses and amps. I wouldn't want to go back even 10 years in speaker history. IMO we have some great cabs being designed and made right now, and 2 of the best are being made in the UK.

  6. Have some unused valves knocking around that aren't going to get used. They were purchased a while back as spares for the Fender Tweed Deluxe kit I built. I have tested them this morning in my amp and all are working fine with no noises of any kind. The EHX preamp valves are 1 x 12AX7 and 1 x 12AY7 - one has the original box the other one doesn't for some reason, but both are unused and have been sat in my drawer. The 12AX7 is now sold Looking for £12 posted for the 12AY7 please. The rectifier valves are 2 x NOS Brimar 5Y3GT and 1 x NOS Pinnacle 5Z4GT - The Pinnacle can be used as drop in replacements for a 5Y3GT. I bought all of these as New Old Stock and they come with the original boxes but do have signs of wear on the cardboard. The Brimar valves have a corrugated cardboard and tissue paper protective cover that come with age appropriate smell 😂 Looking for £15 each posted please. Happy to arrange local meet-up with price adjustment if needed.
  7. From the User Names, I would hazard a guess that the three members created since Jan 23 are 'dummy', 'test' ID's. I may be wrong.
  8. Sadly, I need to let go of my very special Spector NS Pulse II 5-string bass. Asking price is £1,000. I replaced the Tone Pump Jr pre-amp with a multi-coil filtering pre-amp from Lusithand Devices. Stock EMG pickups, not had a chance to swap them out with an actual multi-coil pickups but sounds amazing even without. If you are after the Wal sound, this setup will get you very close. Excellent condition, no scratches or dings, low action, no buzz, straight neck etc. UK buyers only. I'd prefer collection in person, but happy to post it via UPS or similar service (no evri) at the buyer's expense. Hard case included in price. Any questions, let me know! Specs: Body Wood: Solid Swamp Ash Neck Wood: 3-piece Roasted Maple; Bolt on Fretboard: Macassar Ebony Number of Frets: 24 Inlays: Dots Nut: Graphite Nut Width: 1.75" Scale: 35" Neck: EMG 40DC Bridge: EMG 40DC Bridge: Hi-mass Locking Tuners: Sealed Die-cast String Spacing at Bridge: .66"

  17. Chris Hillman was (and is) originally a mandolin player, and prior to joining the Byrds he never even picked up a bass (hence his rather melodic style: he approached it as a very big mandolin with very thick strings). That bass was loaned to him to mime in a TV appearance, he thinks it was a Fender body with a homemade neck, and it was absolutely atrocious. He later used a sunburst P-bass with transition logo on Monterey, which was then stripped and stained in brown, and used furher in the Burrito Bro's. As for that '63 P-bass, it has a rosewood fretboard, so I'd suspect that someone took a hacksaw to the headstock, and reshaped it. Also because a true <57 P-neck had the square heel just like the Telecaster, which doesn't fit in the curved neck pocket. Hence you can install a curved neck in a square pocket, but not the other way around.
