  2. I regularly tell a drummer I play with that he would sound better using a 26" bass drum. He just laughs!!! And I've told drummers I don't like the sound of piccolo snares!
  3. I literally had to Google it 😁
  4. Looks like 19mm at the bridge
  5. I'm wondering how many bassists get to tell the other musicians which instrument to bring along?
  6. EB-0? Bit of an extreme example, no?
  7. These are fantastic. Bought mine as soon as it launched played it for about 10 years before switching to something else. Still miss mine for some of the stuff it does.
  8. Just be aware that's its quite heavy. Other than that, the Sire's are very well respected on here . I had one of the first ones. Other than weight it was fantastic.
  9. Selling this great outboard bass preamp on behalf of my friend Alex Lofoco. The preamp is currently in Rome and can be shipped from there or from London when Alex comes over next. This is the original Sadowsky Outboard preamp which was built by Fishman - this particular unit was made on Dec 14th 1992 and and includes a belt/strap clip and a battery compartment. Any questions, let me know!

  11. Many years ago I was asked to leave my bass at home. I turned up to play in a soul band with a Gibson EB0. They were absolutely right, it sounded terrible. The singer lent me his Danelectro. Sometimes other people's opinions can be valid. That was the first and last time, maybe because I bought a Precision right after that experience.
  12. Great set up. Ran exactly the same rig for a few years pre covid. GLWTS
  13. I don’t think that most of the people I’ve been in bands with would even know what a Precision was, let alone tell me I should be using one.
  14. That's a good point, I made the mistake of going 50:50 blend on an octave up and it was a bit to piercing for my liking. It's seasoning, not the main flavour. My previous pitch shifter (TC Electronic Brainwaves) had two voices, so for the "fake guitar" thing I did +7 and +12 combined 50:50 wet dry which worked well, as I guess the combination of the two higher pitches perhaps mellowed each other out? With the octave alone, it's a bit too shrill at 50:50. Lesson learned.
  15. I do this all the time. Our channel settings have been dialled in on the XR18 for a few years now, so I use the six band semi-parametric eq on the mains to eq to the room. I also save scenes for each venue so I have the last gig at that venue as a starting point. My only other comment is subtractive eq is much more preferable to additive.
  16. Sire is a very good starting point. Particularly second hand will retain its value well too should you not get on with it. I preferred the passive version but that’s my preference in all basses.
  17. Noll with volume (push/pull for active/passive), balance, tone, bass, mid, treble yes it comes with new gig bag

  19. Yes you're not spending enough time around P bass obsessed individuals. Can you sort that out? 😄
  20. Hey all. Looking to get my first 5 string and saw this Sire on bassbros. Just wondered if anyone had any experience with these? I had actually been looking at fanned fret Ibanez's, Dingwalls etc, but now thinking I might have been trying to run before I can walk and that it would be better to get a 5 string at a lower price point in case I don't get on with it. Anyway here's the exact bass in question, seems a reasonably good price? https://bassbros.co.uk/product/2024-sire-marcus-miller-v7-reissue-5-string/ Thanks in advance for your help/comments/condemnation :). Edit - Sorry, just realised I posted this in the General forum rather than the Bass Guitars - I can't see a way to delete it though, sorry!

  22. Nobody has ever told me I should play a P. Am I doing something wrong?
  23. Would you mind measuring the pup dimensions? It would let us see what will fit e.g. maybe the EMG E5W or similar.
  24. ^^ this 100% Have to 'fess I'm actually really enjoying the octave up and bringing it in with an expression pedal (same one as Neepheid is using above, as it happens). Having it set 40:60 wet / dry for octave up and 60:40 for octave down, to make allowance for the higher frequencies cutting through more easily, seems to be a decent mix. Obviously when de-tuning you'll want it 100% wet. Making me think I probably don't actually need my OC-5 anymore! The issue I've now got, is that I'm seriously thinking about upgrading the XS-1 to the XS-100, as I want to be able to quickly switch between songs from: 100% wet, detuned to -2semis or -3semis (depending on the song) 40% wet for octave up 60% wet for octave down And as the XS-100 has it's own expression pedal, possibly either taking the expression pedal off board to free up space or use the dual output with a couple of other pedals. So @Woodinblack if someone wants to sell me their XS-100 used, you may well (finally!) actually end up getting first dibs on mine, haha! But I'll be holding onto my XS-1 until then, for sure - great little pedal and as @neepheid has said, best pitch shift performance either of us have had from a pedal.
