  1. Past hour
  2. No problem - I'll happily do the "under 20kg" £40 option if that still stands?
  3. I can only remember two places I have played where the location itself made any noticeable difference to how I sounded. One was a place I used to rehearse in with my dad rock covers band. It was full of reflective surfaces. Absolutely nothing I did to the EQ or positioning of the bass rig made it sound even half way decent. In the end I told them that it didn't matter that the place was free to use, if I couldn't tell what I was playing, practice there was pointless and could we please move back to the previous room which at least had a carpet and some furniture which controlled the sound. The other was an octagonal church hall with the stage along three of the walls. This had the effect of project all the sound out into the middle of hall. On stage everything (especially the bass) was quiet. Out in audience it was deafening. These days I go direct into the PA and use the foldback to make sure I'm in time and tune with the rest of the band and the backing track. The PA does the important FoH sound for the audience.
  4. Location: Teesside (N.E.)
  5. Is that one of the Fujigen Made in Japan ones?
  6. Nice suggestion , cheers. I am grateful for it but I'm probably too Neanderthal to do that . The only reason I want the blend pot is that with two vols I don't have the 'kill switch ' effect under my hand which I use a lot when addressing the assembled Williams. I've never been one to worry too much about tone which might sound strange to many but it's such a subjective thing I don't see a lot of point. Like I'm always saying - Edwin Collins had a massive hit with the world's worst ever guitar sound , so why worry ?!
  7. Oh wow, that's a strong flavour. Not my taste but I do love a bold statement. Enjoy!
  8. I thought about bringing cans last time. If I can make it I’ll bring my little Behringer P1 and equally cheapie in-ears to see if I can hear what I play! This year (if I can make it) I’m hoping to find someone with TI flats to see what all the fuss is about. (Restrung everything with Labella LTFs after last time!)
  9. It's like choosing only some of your children to go to Disneyland though...
  10. This is pretty much how I’ve done it. Nobody expects you to be perfect but they do want you to look like you’re having fun. This list is exhaustive and would be great if I was going to the bass seat in Jamiroquai but for most of the bands I’ve been in, being friendly, turning up on time and knowing the songs is enough.
  11. Never played a Rick. Would love the chanxe to channel my inner (David) Lemmy.
  12. There will be a good number of people with a few basses each. That's vastly more than most music shops, and I find I gravitate to just a few. I've noticed that however many basses you bring, only one or two get attention. The rest get ignored by everyone except @stewblack who loves the obscure 😁 This year I might address my prejudices and try playing a g&l and a Ric, if there are any present. I may bring my Amplug and headphones as well.
  13. When I get back from London, I'll drop the back seat down and put my stuff in first and see how much space is left. You are welcome to the glove compartment and that little cubby hole between the two front seats. Oh yes, and the top box 😊 let's not forget that. With the back seats down, there's circa 1620 litres, top box is another 500 litres. let's see how many I can get in and work from there.
  14. Just the one gig in Sept and same for Oct. Now looking at a 2nd band again to fill in the long gaps between Glam gigs. Dave
  15. I haven't firmed up the shipping logistics only because it depends on how much the final necks and packaging actually weigh. But yes, I can substitute any sender address you wish when we get to that point.

  20. 34👍🏽
  21. Combustions and NGs i've had (a total of 5) were 9-10lb, my D-Roc being just under 10lb. My SP-1 was 9lb. I've picked up some Combustions in shops that were 10+, I think wood variation was the issue here. However my ash ABZ is under 8lb, this headless Effigy I would expect to be the same or even less.
  22. I need explanations. 🤔
